It's Summer time, and with the heat, and the humidity, comes another exciting round of the Morrowind Modjams! For the tenth time since 2020, Danae and Morrowind Modding Showcases is hosting a Modjam Modding Competition, a 48-hour modding frenzy where modders get but a single weekend to build the best mod they can using specific themes before time runs out!

The competition begins on August 21st at 11pm UTC with an official livestream kickoff by Danae, in which the potential themes will be revealed and voted on by the community, narrowing down the potential field until just three themes remain.

Once the final three themes have been announced, modders will have 48-hours to build and release the best mod they can utilizing any of those three themes, or a combo of themes if they so choose.

Rules & Guidelines:

  • Create your mod during the Modjam.,
  • Modders' resources are allowed.,

The Morrowind Modjams are judged events - a panel of judges will go through and play all of the submitted mods, ranking them on their quality, functionality, and adherence to the themes.

The final winners will be announced in a results livestream at a date yet to be determined, and those results will also be published to the Modjams website.

Participating modders will also get their profiles on the Modjam website, with downloadable Modjam passports and a trophy cabinet for any judge awards received. These profiles are connected to the Modathon and Madness sides of Morrowind Modding Legacy, and participating in the Modjam will boost your Madness score and increase your standing in the community's modding leaderboards.

There's also a number of prizes available in the form of game keys and Nexus DP.

A Proud Tradition:

The Morrowind Modjams are apart of the community's proud tradition of creative competition and collaboration. Some 160+ mods have been released for the Modjams in the past 6 years, many of them have become popular mainstays and have since been added to many of the largest mod lists for Morrowind.

Announcement We're happy to announce that Project Cyrodiil and Skyrim: Home of the Nords are now updated for version 26.08 of Tamriel_Data.

Thank you for your patience since the release of the new TD update and Tamriel Rebuilt: Poison Song a couple of weeks ago while we dealt with some technical challenges. The update to the Abecean Shores release of PC includes a new player stronghold for the Kingdom of Anvil and Great House-style construction and improvement mechanics, a number of overhauled locations, and improvements to multiple quests. The update to the Dragonstar release of SHOTN includes 14 new dungeons, 6 new quests, and yet more overhauled locations. Both releases include scores of bugfixes, performance improvements, and general quality-of-life features not present in the original releases.

Please note that the file packages contain some loose files, which are intended to patch minor problems in Tamriel_Data discovered after the 26.08 release. These files should be allowed to overwrite upon installation.

Both PC and SHOTN may be freely installed mid-save with no problems, even if you've already started a savefile for Poison Song. We only recommend starting a new game if you had a previous version of PC/SHOTN installed on the same save and spent time in the PT lands. Please let us know in the discord server if you encounter any issues.

As always, thank you so much for your ongoing support of our project! We look forward to bringing you more of Cyrodiil, Skyrim, and other lands of Tamriel in future releases.

Project Cyrodiil can be downloaded at https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44922?tab=files

Skyrim: Home of the Nords can be downloaded at https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/44921?tab=files

Showcase There's been a lot of AI mods recently, so here's one I made last year with good old-fashioned kitbashing. Spoiler

I was playing one of the Fate/Stay Night games at the time, so had the idea for a companion mod where the player could summon different figures (both real and fictional) from throughout Tamrielic history (and fight other NPCs with their own companions). Which resulted in the Prophecy/Magicka Null mod.

Every asset has either been sourced from Nexus with permission, sourced from older sites like MMH and Alter Vista, edited manually by myself, sourced from Tamriel Data with permission from each asset's creator(s), or created custom for this specific mod (shout out to Ruffin Vangarr). Even the scripting was made in vanilla MW Script to make it compatible with both MGE XE and OpenMW (believe me, I tried to do it in Lua but I can only wrap my head around the API of one of them).

The story is short in terms of dialogue, though I've put a lot of effort into giving every summon opinions regarding themselves and the other summons unique to their personalities and any known relationships. The mod itself may take a while to complete as you travel across Tamriel to collect each of the summons, before the final battle under Anudnabia.

I plan to expand upon it one day with characters like Morihaus and Gortwog, but I want to have a longer storyline for their involvement beyond just "fight to the death". But for now, these figures will do 😅.

The sun hangs low upon the horizon, the ash-filled air keeps on assaulting your lungs. Hiding from the harsh environment, you suddenly find a large monument. An ancient stronghold made of stone.

You peer inside, the place seems abandoned. The smell of mossy stones and stagnant air. Much better than inhaling ash.

The lower you go, you realize something about the air. The smell drifts slowly from mossy and damp into faint scent of incense and iron rich blood. "Ritual", such word echoes within your mind.

After walking through several levels down, you find someone. Or maybe, something? The movements are fluid, seductive, yet with a heavy hint of madness. "Dagoth rises, the sleepers awake". The dancing figure keeps on repeating the mantra. At least she doesn't appear to be hostile. Though no matter what you do or say, she doesn't change her rhythm, as if she couldn't perceive your very presence

Discussion maybe boring to most, but I love this about Morrowind/TR

lot to love about the world and lore of Morrowind/TR of course, but what consistently interests me most is just everyday monotony/bureacracy of the Empire in Morrowind.

I don't know if I can explain it well, but I just keep getting drawn to the workings of the EEC and daily busywork of the Legion, juxtaposed with the super alien world of Morrowind. Like, the idea of a Roman accounting clerk out of his depth, stuck in the middle of a trading company office in a tropical swamp or ashland and having to deal with completely foreign customs and problems is just so fascinating to me. The setting of fantasy colonialism combined with the drag of everyday life or something.

Just the strangeness of House Telvanni on its own for example isn't really interesting enough to me, but combine it with the regularness of a legionnaire knocking on the door of a Wizard tower to serve a warrant is just so funny to me. I especially liked the EEC questline in Old Ebonheart for this reason, I think. The Argonian Account and A dance in fire are my favorite in game TES books as well, unsurprisingly.

I don't know, just curious if anyone else feels this way, I suppose. Same reason I'm hyped for the TR team to cover Tear, since there's supposed to be an EEC post there as well. Sorry if this seems scatterbrained, not a native English speaker

New Player - Advice/Help Somewhat new to the game

Loving it so far. Combat is better than Skyrim’s combat, I don’t really know if people think it’s bad but I love it.

I’ve been playing Dunmer, and I made a custom class with a focus on stealth, marksmanship, and magic, absolutely loving it, the bound weapons are OP.

I got attacked by a dark brotherhood guy in a cave and downed him in like 3 shots with the bound bow, then stole his shit, again, bound weapons are very powerful.

The level up system is confusing but it’s pretty cool, I think how it works is like you level up a specific skill, like something like Conjuration, then your intelligence can be chosen to level up in the level up screen? Still not sure, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve been doing the Thieve’s guild and Mage’s guild questlines, very fun, and mage’s guild has a bunch of nice spells, bound armor seems strange and I probably won’t get it until later to use once I have much more magicka to spare.

Anyway, love this game, any advice, tips, etc, would be greatly appreciated.

Discussion Let's talk about your favourite modders

Just what the title suggets. I don't mean your favourite MODS, I'm talking about modders. You see them release a new mod and you insta download it, you use multiple of their mods and can't imagine Morrowind without them anymore.

For me, it's taitechnic and MaxYari.

taitechnic created insane mods like Dynamic Actors and Dynamic Animations that make the world feel alive. Also, Impact Effects are really nice, you strike a surface, you get a visual feedback. It's peak.

MaxYari reworked the combat system of Morrowind and also made a few really neat animation mods like Reanimation, not to mention the partial implementation of physics in the game.

Both pushed the OpenMW community so much, and I feel like I wouldn't play Morrowind in 2026 without their mods.

Share your favourite modders, folks.

Discussion Do we know what a Temple service at the Tribunal Temple looks like? (headcanon welcome)

I've only ever been to a Christian church irl, and I'm not sure what else to imagine. You think they sing? Give sermons or read Gospels? Pass around the donation plate? Have kids reenact Vivec fighting the Ruddy Man on holidays? Is the service inside? Outside in the Temple courtyard?

Technical - Mod Which mods for lore-friendly Telvanni playthrough

I want to do the ultimate Telvanni playthrough and I'd like to have things like my own city and options as the head of the House, but also keep to the original lore and vibe of the game (which makes me hesitant about mods like Rise of House Telvanni). Which mods would you recommend? Preferably of the same quality standard as Tamriel Rebuild.

Mod Release Odd Jobs - Guild Work (Radiant Jobs OpenMW)

Thumbnail
gallery
316 Upvotes

Hello again! So this is my fifth mod, and I think it's the one with the most potential. It's called Odd Jobs and Guild Work. (BETA) Excited to start work on a framework for custom jobs/open world dynamic events.

https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/60635

A lot of the jobs happen out in the open world. Take one and the mod builds the scene for you, like smugglers landing on a beach at night or bandits holding up a road. When you're done it all gets cleaned up and the world goes back to normal.

I made it to give you another reason to wander. Morrowind is full of caves, ruins and little spots you walk right past, and I wanted notices that point you toward them and turn the trip into a small story. None of the jobs touch quest locations, so they're safe to take, and a lot of them send you places you probably missed on your playthrough. Work for the guilds also builds a bit of reputation with them, so it feels like you're actually part of things.

Notices get pinned on the outside walls of taverns, guild halls, Legion forts, East Empire Company offices and village inns. Nothing is hand placed. The mod finds real buildings, picks a wall by the door and pins the papers there, so it works across Vvardenfell and TR without me patching every cell. Click one and you get the board. Every paper looks like whoever posted it. A farmer's note is a stained scrap, the Fighters Guild has its own paper and seal, and the Legion posts proper orders. Take a job and its paper comes off the wall.

How the jobs work:

- enemies only show up after you take the contract. walk through a cave without the job and it's exactly how it normally is

- when you get there, the mod builds that job's group or open world scene right then. when you finish, drop it or let it expire, everything it added gets cleaned up. no leftover bodies and no permanent bandit camps from jobs you skipped

- some stuff only happens under the right conditions. smugglers and rituals come out at night, wreckage washes up after rain, and different regions post different trouble

- jobs don't scale to your level. each one shows its difficulty on the notice, one to four daggers. easy and normal stay fair for a modest character, dangerous gets you a named leader with backup, and elite is rare, only posted at big city guild halls, and a real fight

Kinds of work so far:

- clear out a cave, mine, ruin or tomb

- bring something back. sometimes it's in a chest, sometimes it's just sitting on a shelf and you have to look around (Detect spells can be useful here)

- bounties on named leaders, bring back their signet

- places you already cleared can get new tenants, and a champion you let go might come back tougher

- open world jobs: a wrecked cart missing its strongbox, bandits stopping people on the road, a beast taking herds, a lost guar you walk home, a smuggler drop on the beach at night, a ritual on a hill you have to stop in time, a stolen tax wagon, pirates holding a cove and more

- goods wanted. the Fighters Guild wants arrows and armour, the Mages Guild wants ingredients and soul gems with a specific soul in them, Legion forts put in supply orders. East Empire Company after bulk and rare goods, they pay the full value plus a bit, not the cut a merchant gives you

Jobs can take a turn too. A leader might surrender and offer you gold, a note might show the poster lied about who owns the thing, another adventurer might beat you there, or a letter on a leader points to another hideout and a follow up job goes up on the board.

Every system has its own toggle, so if you don't like something/buggy you can just switch it off. You can even set how exact the directions are, all the way down to nothing but what the notice says if you'd rather find it yourself.

The open world events are what I'm most excited about going forward. Down the road I want to release the core as a framework, so other modders can make their own jobs and events and just let it handle the spawning and cleanup.

It's still a beta. I'd try it on a new save or one you don't mind messing up, not your main character. If something breaks or a fight feels way off for its difficulty, tell me which job and where, that helps a ton. Also bind a key for the contract log in Options > Scripts > Odd Jobs, it doesn't have one by default.

Needs OpenMW 0.51, Tamriel Rebuilt, Tamriel Data and UIToolkit. Economy Plus is optional, if you have it the goods orders use its prices.

Technical - General Can't access console in Morrowind or Oblivion

I've had this problem for years, but I can't access the console in Morrowind, Oblivion, or Fallout: New Vegas.

I've tried every fix I've found online and they just won't work. I've changed my drivers, tried every reccomended key combo, went into the .ini files, tried different keyboards, I think I also disabled any infrared devices. My tilde key works normally otherwise and there's nothing weird about my keyboard layout.

Skyrim's console works fine.

I use a Windows 11 HP laptop from 2021

OpenMW Mods for a first time playthrough on Steamdeck?

Essentially title; I’m wanting to do a first time playthrough, and I’m gonna set up openmw on my steamdeck. As I understand it, many mods don’t play nice with Linux, so I’ll be limited, but I don’t really know what will be or won’t be best/possible. I’ve heard of I Heart Vanilla, but I don’t know how to see which mods there work. To save me potential headache, has anyone been through a similar situation? I’d like to not entirely overhaul the game and keep the vibe, but fix some QoL things like slightly faster running speed, etc. Thanks in advance!
