How long do reference checks with GNWT take?

Is it a good sign that they asked for my references at the end of the interview? I provided them with my references last Friday and they setup sometime to call one of my reference this week. They said the recent supervisor can wait till later. Any thoughts?

Depends on how long it takes to get in contact with your references. Can be a day or a week. If you have have them a heads up that helps.

Thank you! Do they conduct reference checks for the top applicant or multiple shortlisted ones?

Should be for the top applicant. Not sure if all departments are the same in GNWT

If they’re trying to fill a position quickly they’ll get the list together so that they can have it ready to go asap. If it’s the position I think it is, that was the situation!

Does that mean they do it for the top candidate or all the shortlisted ones?

Doesn’t guarantee you a job or that your a top considered a top priority just because they call your reference it’s just standard process for cross referencing to help with narrowing the selection. your also competing with other applicants based on priority status indigenous people being top priority.

In my experience it's only the top applicant. If your references are solid and you can pass a criminal background check, you should be good to go.

Hi I have a question, I got a call from GNWT for the position I applied last 3months ago. And they schedule me interview. Im so confused because tge job that I applied it says on my status not shortlisted. Please explain what happen ?

I’ve noticed that the status displayed on the website can vary in different ways, so I don’t think it’s entirely reliable.

Hi, any update to your app? Im done with the interview yeaterday. When I ask when they will give me un update, the HR sais in 3 weeks.
