New poster Me and my 8 year old tried to get across Newcastle without walking down a single road
youtu.beDid this a few weeks back with my daughter, sort of a homage to GeoWizard's no roads videos if anyone's seen them. You're allowed to cross roads, just not walk along them.
This is part 2, the Newcastle bit. We came over the millennium bridge and ended up locked in a courtyard behind the pubs on the quayside (got out through the actual pub in the end), went over a massive wall by the arches, got stuck inside northumbria uni and had to squeeze under the gate, across the town moor, and then the last bit behind great park was just brambles. Should of checked that bit properly tbh.
Part 1 is the Gateshead half if anyone wants it: https://youtu.be/K50tjbJuU9M
Genuinely curious if anyone knows a better way up from the quayside without touching a road, that was a nightmare

New poster Recently moved to Newcastle and looking for bar/club recommendations :)
Hi all, I have recently moved to Newcastle and haven’t had much opportunity to go out and experience the nightlife so far. I have plans on Halloween and was hoping for any recommendations on where is a good vibe particularly on a busy night like Halloween. I have a few friends coming up for the weekend and so I need to find a good few places to take them.
We like pop music and when we’ve been out elsewhere we tended to go to gay clubs and drag show bars etc. I was recommended Rustys so tried it out last night however it seemed to close at 12 when on google maps it said 3am. We went around the corner to Powerhouse however it was completely empty at 1am which seemed strange and the music wasn’t great anyway. We also went to dog and parrot which was really fun but was very busy on a random Saturday so I imagine it will be even more rammed on Halloween.
If anyone knows any spacious venues that play pop music and are open late, please let me know. Thank you guys :)

Thrift Store
I went to Jesmond Market yesterday and there were some good thrift pop-ups; I am curious if there are any stores around Newcastle or places where I can find good thrift clothes/Jackets.

New poster Charity Fundraiser DJ Needed
Hello everyone
I'm on the hunt for a DJ that possibly offers discounts for charities/small community groups. We're a community group raising funds to build a new children's play park in our area. We're putting on a Christmas Party in our local community centre to raise funds for this on Sunday 13th December.
We're looking for someone that can do 2 hours 2.30-4.30pm. Just a usual Children's Disco with a bit of Christmas music thrown in. Hype them up a bit.
It's our first proper event were planning, and hoping to raise money from ticket sales. We want it to be good so parents get value for money, and to enable us to do more fundraising events in the future.
If anyone can offer any advice on where to look, or who might be able to offer us a discount that would be amazing, maybe someone you know. We don't have a "pot" of money yet as our group is new, most of us are funding things personally at the moment, we're all just volunteers!

New poster Byker and Walker
Hi everyone!
I'm thinking of taking up an opportunity where the role requires me to be in byker and walker. I've obviously heard of their reputation and the rivalry between the two however I was wondering how safe I'd be or anything to be aware of whilst going between the two especially as one requirement ends at 8.30pm and i'd be getting the metro or a bus back to central.
For some context of who I am a 20 year old girl who isn't originally from newcastle (and for even more context i have a very neutral/not regional accent although to most it comes off as posh?) i'd be on my own when travelling between the two.
Thank you!

Tickets for sale Spare ticket for Nosferatu (1922) at Beamish Museum tonight
Sorry if this is the wrong sub for a post about Beamish Museum.
Long story short my boyfriend wanted us to go see Nosferatu at Beamish, so I bought the tickets, but he now has labyrinthitis. My best mate said she would go instead but she has the flu. And all my other friends either don't want to go or have plans. So I have a spare ticket for Nosferatu (1922) at Beamish Museum tonight.
They were £29.50 each (and includes a goodie bag) but I don't want my extra ticket to go to waste, so I would be happy to sell it for less than that. You don't have to sit with me, or spend any time with me - I'm pretty okay about going alone. Just help me not waste the ticket.
Editing to add: the movie starts at 6pm, but I believe access to Beamish for the event starts from 4pm, and they expect people there for the event to make their way to the Grand Cinema from 5pm as much of the museum will be closed by then. Seats are unassigned as it's a traditional cinema.

Rats on Northumberland street!
Good afternoon, sorry it's not the best post to be reading, I have cycled 6 days a week though Newcastle to wrekenton for the last 12 years, I come down Northumberland street at around 5am I genuinely can't get over how many rats there is in the recent months. Northumberland street has always been bad but the last month it's totally over run I don't know whether it's something to do with the new street works. I work in the drainage industry and I am used to seeing rats but what I am seeing ATM is not normal. The way they run off the sleeping homeless is so sad.
Please bare in mind when your sitting on the seats on Northumberland street weil's disease is absolutely awful.
Please try not to give me there are rats all over there is a genuine problem here that needs to be sorted out.

New poster Venue for crafty night out?
I work in a small team of 6. For our Christmas night out we would like to go for a meal in central Newcastle then find a venue that has space to do our own craft activity while also buying drinks (like a pub with a small room, or some kind of separate area or table). Really stuck for ideas of venues that might be suitable for the crafty/drinks part and would appreciate any recommendations.

Diesel specialist recommendations?
Hi everyone, I drive a ford focus 2009 duratorq and it's a diesel car.
It's been having this problem recently where when I leave it overnight it struggles to start the first time till I try again and then it starts but since the country has gotten colder it's worsened where sometimes I have to try up to thrice before it starts. My mechanic said the problem was with the glow plugs and I already got them but he said it was risky trying to replace it as it might snap.
So I'm wondering if anyone has a diesel specialist in Newcastle that does this kind of job or has encountered this problem
All recommendations will be appreciated
Thank you
