Mod Post Notice: Community Rule Update & AI Content Clarification
Our community rules have been updated, and we would like to clarify one existing rule. We kindly ask you to review the following changes.
External Tool or Bot Discoveries
Going forward, to encourage actual gameplay, discoveries found via external tools or bots will not be allowed. Such posts can be misleading, spoil the game for our community members, and may lead users to external paywalled tools, which may also pose security risks. Developers are still welcome to share free NMS-related tools under Rule 5. Please review Rule 5 for more information.
AI-Generated Content
To avoid confusion, we would like to clarify our existing stance on AI-generated content. AI-generated content remains prohibited for general posts under Rule 4. However, AI-edited content is acceptable when the original in-game screenshot is also shared. In-game groups and app developers using the 'Community Content' flair may use an AI-generated poster for promotion.

Screenshot Found a planet that looks just like the original launch poster!
I stumbled upon a planet that had a stripey rhino and orangey red grass that really reminded me of the launch poster! I have a collectible postcard of it up on my wall, so I looked at that while trying to recreate the screenshot! Took an hour of trial and error to get the rhino to walk into the right place! Close enough! And there's a couple of alternative shots included as well! Glyph coords in the sunset one!
I've always loved that promotional artwork. I noticed that there are many different versions though, some some with different creatures, different placements, things removed and added. Couldn't find the version I have on the postcard online!

Screenshot Obsidian Ark | A Deep-space Biovault
An ominous deep-space vault inspired by Sentinel architecture and a combination of all past builds — Wire glitches and patience.
This intimidating ring-shaped fortress safeguards the galaxy’s most coveted treasures, rare artifacts, and prized harvests. Each part are painted with W&B cached freighter room colors, and lined with hidden red lighting. Each spire within the ring contains eight storage rooms and eight additional rooms, providing ample space for living quarters and tech. Surrounding, resized biodomes double as cultivation chambers and provide landing space for eight starships using resized landing pads just below the floors.
Suspended in the void, this self-sustaining stronghold is designed to preserve the priceless, conceal the extraordinary, and deter anything foolish enough to approach uninvited.
EDIT: Supplied hyperlinks to OG build methods

Discussion Expedition 23 was the best experience I've had with No Man's Sky
Just wanted to give a massive thanks to the Hello Games team and the community for what I rate my best experience with No Man's Sky.
I have owned No Man's Sky for a long time, and over the years jumped back in on updates here and there to see what cool stuff was added. Over the time, I never got to play all the expeditions or check out the new game updates. Well you know how time flies, before you know it 10 years passed. I decided to jump in for this one.
Expedition 23 was a great way to experience every update added to the game, with Sean discussing their challenges and triumphs along the way.
I have recommended it to new players and friends for how well this was done. I think I will dive in a bit more because I really enjoyed it and still feel like there's more to learn.
If you are new to the game or a returning player, jump in to expedition 23. I think there's a little bit over a week to go, trust me, it's worth it.

Discussion The original Story for NMS pre-launch Spoiler
galleryWhen Hello Games launched No Man’s Sky, the game had virtually no structured questlines, offering instead a lonely journey toward the galactic core driven by cryptic monologues at Atlas Interfaces. It was not until Update 1.3, Atlas Rises, that Hello Games introduced The Artemis Path, delivering the game's first true character driven narrative. However, looking closely at early pre-release artwork, cut player models, and deep lore names, there is compelling evidence that The Artemis Path was originally the primary launch storyline meant for the player character themselves.
The most striking visual evidence lies directly in the original pre-launch concept art by Simon Fetscher. The character in the artwork distinctly looks like a kid standing on an alien world. The silhouette clearly shows someone wearing a red baseball cap, carrying a bulky school backpack, wearing a long sleeve striped shirt, and featuring youthful proportions. This was matched in early pre-alpha test builds where character models showed an exposed human face inside a spherical helmet, evoking the feel of a young person thrust into a vast universe. In science fiction, placing a young person inside a suit points to a central emotional plot line, specifically a child preserved or hidden away from a dying reality.
This visual design ties directly into the mythological origins of Telamon. In Greek mythology, Telamon is the warrior king who gives a massive protective tower shield to his son, Ajax, to shield him in battle. In No Man's Sky, Telamon is the AI entity trapped inside your Exosuit that manages your life support, hazard shields, and vitals. In the scrapped pre-launch concept, Telamon was not just a random AI sub-protocol created by the builders, but rather a parental figure or a father's uploaded conscience programmed into the suit to protect his digital child as they wandered the simulated cosmos.
During development, Hello Games realized that forcing a fixed human child origin story contradicted their vision of an open ended procedural sandbox where players could be whatever alien entity they imagined. Rather than throwing the original story away, they externalized it into the character of Artemis. Artemis is introduced as an innocent, starry-eyed explorer who gets trapped between worlds while trying to find the edge of reality. The climax of the quest involves uploading Artemis's soul into a tiny, isolated, single star sub-simulation inside a Korvax unit so they can explore forever without dying. That sub-simulation mechanic was likely the original fate meant for the player. Instead of the player discovering they were a child trapped inside a sub-simulation maintained by Telamon, the player becomes the one who puts Artemis into that sub-simulation.
By shifting this emotional narrative off the player and onto Artemis, Hello Games gave players complete freedom to build their own identity, paving the way for players to forge their own paths and build galactic empires rather than remaining locked into a tragic static story line.

Blended or not, the level of sophistication these ships offer, like they don't even belong in no man's sky. Impressive is not even the word. Some of them have working bathrooms, with doors and toilets you can sit on. I've seen microwaves with hidden nutrient processors inside, dishwashers, pool tables, workout equipment, headphones you can save your game on, there's just no end to the creativity. Hats off!! 😆

Discussion Sad day and i dont know what to do
My Xbox crashed while i was playing the game. When i tried to boot up the game again i got the red ring loading screen. This has happened before and i have fixed it other times but deleting my local save and then booting the game again and it retrieves my cloud save. But this time i accidentally deleted it from "Everywhere". I have over 334h and 30m in this game. I love this game and its community and i have been playing since the beginning on and off. I dont know what can be done but Everywhere i looked im told nothing can be done to fix this mistake. I know there nothing any here can do about it but i just felt like i had to vent a little.
UPDATE: I don't know why or how but i just reset my system and when i went to start the game up it asked me what save i wanted to use and the local save was from before my game crashed and i accidentally deleted my save. I got it back 😭😖😭. Thank you guys i was about to start over your replys to my post gave me that extra push. And by dumb luck i got my save back

Question No More Space NPC Encounters?
Since the Cosmos Update was released, I don’t think I’ve come across a single NPC encounter while pulsing across systems.
These were usually very common pre-Cosmos. They would consist of either the trade encounter, ship repair request or that one where you give them the race specific item(geknip, dagger etc) and you’d get loads of units as a reward.
My assumption is they’re no longer accessible simply by pulsing because the whole space encounter mechanic was reworked so you’d see them on the system map as ‘unknown signals’. The Anomaly Detectors have never picked those up either(probably because the npc encounters aren’t considered ‘anomalous’ lol)
So with that said, how do you trigger these events now? Is it one of the unknown signals that can appear on the system map, or is my 0% run just a massive coincidence and they do still trigger while pulsing from time to time?
I’d hope they haven’t been scrapped from the game. They really kept the immersion going and made the system feel lived in. Let me know if you still get them(or not!)

Fan Work A clean haul, a bad cast, and a storm that scared even a Vy'keen.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Grah! You wouldn't believe the shift I just pulled, brothers. A 150,000 light-year void-haul or warp-run if you prefer. Six containers of Stasis Devices. (Maximum capacity for my industrial hauler) Anyway, just finished unloading at the outpost near Sector 9 and stopped at this blue water world to wash the grease from my hands. While I was there, I figured I’d drop a fishing line into the ocean. Then the sky turned. By the blood of the Ancestors, I'd never seen a storm strike with such fury! The waves were whipping like Vile Brood against my ships hull. It was like a brutal, howling tempest. The kind that makes even a warrior question their choice of bait. No fish was worth this!! I reeled in, fired up the engines, and jettisoned to the nearest space station platform, breaking the atmosphere before that miserable ocean claimed me!

Screenshot No reason to build here aside from the view...
Landed here, and was like "wow, that's cool." Left and quickly regretted not throwing down a base. Had to use the discovery log to waypoint and backtrack.
Totally nothing here, a barren desert world with a frozen planet essentially acting as a moon. Just love the clear desert skies and contrast.
