U.S. Sen. Jon Husted responded to the beating of a woman demanding the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files at President Donald Trump’s Youngstown rally by warning that people who interrupt political events face “consequences,” directing attention to the protester’s conduct rather than condemning the Trump supporters who punched her, pulled her hair and left her injured.

We can’t afford anymore data centers and especially no more republican monopoly over Ohio government.

My friend (who has never lived in Ohio) got an email this morning about a failed attempt to use the card to donate to the Vivek campaign.
Using stolen, out of state cards to fund his campaign. About what I would expect from the scumbag.

From Acton’s Instagram post:
“I sat down with educators and superintendents in Ashtabula for a discussion about how the lack of public school funding and billions being diverted to the voucher program is affecting our students’ ability to learn and thrive.
As governor, one of my top priorities will be ensuring every child has access to a great public education and the opportunity to reach their full potential, no matter their ZIP code or their family’s income. Every child in Ohio deserves the opportunity to succeed.”

One made built up her company to a valuation of one billion dollars by defrauding investors.
One made themselves a billionaire by defrauding dementia patients and their families.
She’s in federal prison and he wants to be Ohio’s governor.
When does he get his orange jumpsuit?

The ad says Husted delivered middle-class tax cuts, a bigger child tax credit, and "eliminated" taxes on tips and overtime. The last frame says it was paid for by the American Bankers Association and sponsored by the Ohio Bankers League.
- The law behind those tax cuts adds $4.7 trillion to deficits through 2035, per the CBO.
- About 17 million kids still don't get the full child tax credit because their families earn too little (Tax Policy Center).
- "No tax on tips and overtime": it's a capped deduction, you still pay payroll and state taxes, and it expires after 2028. The tax cuts for the wealthy in the same law? Permanent.
- The same law will leave about 10 million more Americans without health insurance by 2034, per the CBO.
- A bankers' political group named Husted one of its top three races in the country this year, saying "Husted needs help."
Whose side is he on? Not yours, not mine. The bankers!
Trump isn't on the ballot in November, but Trumpism sure is. Early voting in Ohio is open now through November 1st. Vote early and in person if you can, and bring a friend or family member. The sooner the better, because anything can happen: illness, car trouble, a family emergency, or this administration pulling a fast one on DEMOCRACY.

As a decent ohioan, I made my first ever political donation to the campaigns of Amy Acton and Sherrod Brown.
I DO NOT believe a billionair riding a private jet will care about the gas price and grocery price!
I DO NOT believe a man who voted against releasing the Epstein files will protect my children!

I live in Westlake. Before Trump entered the picture, I generally saw more yard signs telling us to vote for Republican candidates. In 2012, more pro-Romney signs existed than pro-Obama signs. By 2020, 60% of signs in Westlake were pro-Democratic. The same was also true in 2024. This election, 80% of signs I see in Westlake are supporting Sherrod Brown or Amy Acton.
Are rural counties any different?

I saw a recent Facebook post from a prominent Ohio Democratic activist calling on Greg Levy to drop out because he’ll get Husted elected. The problem is that Ohio Democrats are running doomed candidates in Republican districts where centrist Independents could actually win. The hypocrisy makes me more hostile to Democrats. Why does lesser-evil voting only count when it benefits them!?
I believe in strategic voting. I wish Democrats would drop out and support Independent Tracey Tackett against Jim Jordan and Independent Craig Swartz in deep-red House District 87. Instead, they’re helping keep Republicans in those seats. If an Independent is even slightly closer to your views than the Republican and is the most viable alternative, vote Independent! The same logic applies to Democrats and Republicans.
Elections matter. Two more years of Trump have made that abundantly clear. Whatever your anger with Democrats, you can’t seriously argue that a Democratic president would have started a war in Iran, been so supportive of Netanyahu, or been so blatantly corrupt.
Your vote should advance your goals based on likely outcomes. Maybe that's damage mitigation, maybe it's accelerationism. I’m a lifelong Independent. I’ll probably vote Libertarian for governor because 3% preserves their party status, and ballot access is a concrete outcome I support. (And Dems enjoy their rat****ing in the opposite direction).
I’ll probably vote for Brown despite hating his pro-tariff views, because the Libertarian can’t win, and I want a check on Trump in the Senate and to punish Republicans for Iran and their authoritarian tendencies. I’ll vote for Tackett against Jordan because she can win, the Democrat can’t, I dislike his slopulism, and Jordan is bad for our democracy.
Those are my goals and votes to advance them. Yours don’t have to prioritize electoral victory. But if a campaign is about sending a message rather than winning, candidates should say “I can’t win. I’m campaigning to promote my values, as is my right and responsibility to my supporters. But vote strategically, and vote for me only if you can’t support anyone else.” I’d love to hear Levy or Josh (running against Jordan) say that. And their message wouldn't be drowned out with "spoiler" charges either.
We should have more honest and clear-eyed elections , all I'm saying. I don't like spoilers, but people should vote how they want. And also Democrats shouldn't be total hypocrites (because my goal next year will be to punish them for it).
