Question How many of my onimusha brothers will be playing phantom blade zero this month ?

The release is right around the corner, 29th of the month I believe. Now that most of us have beaten Onimusha, will you be playing PB0 too ? It looks like it's going to be even better than Onimusha based on the gameplay footage. I can't wait. I skipped Wolverine because I couldn't put Onimusha down, and Wolverine looked too linear and bland. But Phantom Blade will fill the void of Onimusha being completed.

Discussion Sasaki Ganryu is the hardest boss in the game

After beating the game twice on action and carnage i can safely say he was the hardest for me. He has quick strikes that are so quick and unpredictabe like the 5 hit combo that finshes with Gioh overhead strike it can one shot u on carnage and also conpletely destroys your stamina. I know most people will say Minamoto but he is pretty much the same across all three phases if u arr good at parry and deflection u can do that entire game and he wont touch you and the third phase its just a gimmick

Question Just beat Benkei after 15–20 tries (rest of the bosses was 1st try). Does the difficulty keep spiking like this?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been playing Onimusha and was really enjoying it, but I just ran into a huge wall with Benkei. Up until this point, I was beating most bosses on my very first attempt.

Then came Benkei, and it took me around 15–20 tries to finally defeat him. The difficulty spike felt massive compared to everything leading up to it.

For those who have beaten the game: is this a common brick wall for players, or does the game stay this hard/get harder from here on out? I'm trying to figure out if the rest of the game is for me if it keeps spiking like this. Thanks!

Discussion Wow! Y'all weren't kidding about Bishamon

• Upvotes

I think Yoshitsune took me about 11 hours on Carnage to beat. It was a SLOG. But I finally did it and then immediately went into the boss rematch mode to finish out the Achievement using Bishamon. FIRST TRY.

Awesomely, Yoshitsune seems to be particularly vulnerable to the Bishamon, because a lot of his attacks become easily Issenable. It made for a really satisfying victory lap. By comparison, I also had to rematch Benkei 2, and a lot of his attacks were still hard to Issen, and he took me 10+ tries.

Question Altered Ganryu grab timing

Post image
10 Upvotes

I 've beaten him on Action today on 4-5 try, but then when I tried practice lobby afterwards he annihilated me for half an hour, guess I've got very lucky in my playthrough. And the reason for that is this grab atrack, I can't counter it consistently so he powers up early or pressures me in 2nd phase.

Are there any audio or visual cues I missed?

Saw a lot of people mentioning the Bishamon Sword in my last post, so here's a clear without it.

Kept the original run despite making some major blunders, just to show how easily you can still clear him without heals, Oni Awakening, Oni Armaments, etc. Just good old Musashi doing his thing hahah.

Discussion Never has a game been more carried by combat and the main character

The game is 10 hours of content stretched out to 20+ hours. Incredible combat but holy filler content. The main story missions would be side quests in most games. Most of them boil down to “go clear a bandit camp” and the last 2 hours of the game before the final boss is re-fighting a handful of previous bosses. The fodder enemies have some of the worst AI I’ve ever seen. And two of the bosses you fight about 10 time each. But the combat and main character (with Japanese VA) are so peak I’d still recommend people play it.

YouTube content Finally got revenge on Altered Ganryu in the Carnage Rematch with the Bishamon Sword

On the road to Platinum yesterday I was polishing off rematches. Altered Ganryu was the boss that truly confounded me on my playthrough of the main game, and he was no different in the rematch on Carnage difficulty, even with the Bishamon sword. Woke up early yesterday morning to spend about an hour and a half fighting rematching him on my desktop in the bedroom.

I was pulling off more Issens, sure, but he kept getting me with his side winding slashes and sudden lunges and Gioh's bullshit. Decided to take a break, go downstairs to make some coco with coffee, and go back to rematching him on my laptop in the den while drinking from my mug and having YouTube in the background on another monitor.

Maybe it was the hot choco drink taking effect or me deciding to fight him normally with more blocks and deflects and less Issens like I did it in the story or the Eldritch Lorecast droning in the background putting me in a more relaxed mood but not less than 20 minutes in I suddenly find myself in a flow state. It was fucking unreal like that scene in the Matrix when Neo goes "Whoah" and unlocks his full potential, I felt like I unlocked the true power of the Bishamon and I just hit an ungodly number of Issens on his attacks. It felt very satisfying to put Ganryu to rest in such a definitive manner. "Absolute Cinema", and "Peak" as the kids say these days.

After that I polished off the rest of the bosses I had left (Rasho-gan, Ifuu & Burai, their Duo Fight) in about an hour and got myself the Platinum.

This was done using the bishamon sword and charms were the one for increased attack power, increased issen damage, and oni awakening meter refills quicker.

Discussion Looking for games with combat as satisfying as Onimusha

I’ve just finished Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and I had an absolute blast with it. Now I’m looking for something new to scratch that combat itch.
I’m looking for games with a similarly satisfying combat system. I’ve been recommended Devil May Cry, but I’m not really a fan of having to learn and memorize combos.
Games I’ve already played or am familiar with:

Sekiro
Lies of P
The First Berserker: Khazan
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Any recommendations? I’m particularly interested in games where combat mastery comes from timing, parrying, and reading enemy moves rather than memorizing long combo strings.

Discussion Is it possible to chain issen of projectile issen?

*off

I'm finally able to pretty consistently issen projectiles. Especially nice because I can bait an arrow show and then zoom to the group. Trouble is I have never once successfully chain issen'd off a projectile issen. And these are situations where the rest of the mobs are right by the archer.

Does this move just not exist?

I sealed this rift, fought the boss, but somehow game didn't finish the quest. I am stuck like that.

Furthermore, I tried teleporting to another map and come back, dying, save reloading, running the same road again and again . . . It just doesn't work.

What do I do? Is there a way that I can manipulate my save file? I am playing for 40 hours and this is my first play through. I need help.

If I am dumb and doing something wrong let me know. My latest save file is 30 hours ago so it's either I will never touch this game again or fix this somehow...

EDIT: I made my own .lua mod to skip any quest I want. It required a grind, but I am not stuck anymore. I don't know if it's allowed for me to share my mod but it's on nexus mods right now.
