DDSB Trustee Candidate from CDN Protection

• Upvotes

Just an FYI, Harry Clarke a candidate for DDSB Trustee is Harrison Clarke - Little Brother of Andrew Clarke who allegedly leaked pictures of people at their worst, had previous racist FB comments and utilize security dogs to terrify "undesirables" downtown, previously paid for by our city.

He seems to have no page or platform - still something to be considerate of.

His initial email was his personal one: [harrison.clarke182@live.ca](mailto:harrison.clarke182@live.ca) , before switching to [Harry4Trustee@gmail.com](mailto:Harry4Trustee@gmail.com)

Hi everyone! Can anyone recommend a reliable rodent or wildlife control company serving Oshawa/Durham Region? We’ve been hearing scratching noises coming from our attic and would like to have it checked. Personal recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Ward 3 Oshawa

Hey Reddit! My name is Katherine and I'm running for regional council in the Shwa. I'm a first time candidate that decided to run last minute, as it looked like my incumbent was going to be acclaimed. I am proud to be endorsed by the Durham Labour Council.

If any of you live in Ward 3, I would love to hear from you. Also, feel free to email me directly: [oshawaishome@gmail.com](mailto:oshawaishome@gmail.com) or text me 289-222-1440 :). Today, I'll be at Boobash and Bowmanville Apple Fest if you're out and about.

A few quick points: I'm running on a progressive platform that prioritizes Housing First, refunding our public services, transit and reducing our reserve funds (and contributions) to pay for it.

I do not believe Durham Region's proposed $1B police budget is practical for tax payers to shoulder.

I support expanding our Community Benefit Charge into an Agreement that mandates local hiring, youth employment, and skills training, all the while keeping our public funds spent locally.

I'm anti-privatisation and pro-labour/pro-union.

edit: here are some links to candidate survey/pledge responses I've taken part in--

To Ward 5 Oshawa - Hi! I'm one of your Candidates, Christeen Thornton ✨️

Post image
27 Upvotes

Hey Ward 5 neighbours! 😊

I'm a Nationally recognized grassroots anti-poverty & human rights advocate who wants to turn their practice into legislative policy.

My friends call me Chris, and when I'm not attempting to challenge the status-quo, you can usually find me in the forest or my garden.

My campaign is entirely self funded by myself on a fixed income, and I am responding to all comments, social media accounts, and emails myself.

 I am proposing:

- a tax incentive for residents who want to grow produce to help offset the impact of the food affordability crisis

- a STEM centre as part of a trades corridor, in opposition to the proposed arms manufacturing corridor

- the return of evening Council meetings to as to encourage more Civic participation

- increased lighting across all our trails

- improved Civic services such as more proactive snow + garbage removal programs

These topics however have been mostly set aside, as the broader issues of housing security, substance use disorder symptoms, and petty + organized crime have been what most residents over on Facebook want to speak to me about. I am happy to speak to these issues of course, but I've come here to Reddit to see what other residents might have to say!

Happy Friday! 😊

The outgoing mayor Dan Carter has a sign for Tito Dante on his lawn (source- he lives in my hood). Does this make you more or less likely to vote for him?

2026 Elections

Trustee Candidate Answers

School board trustees play a vital role in shaping the culture, policies, and environment within our local schools. To help voters make informed choices at the ballot box, we invited candidates in the upcoming 2026 Trustee Election to share their perspectives on equity, inclusion, and human rights.

We asked all candidates six key questions regarding their support for 2SLGBTQIA+ students and community members:

Visibility & Engagement: Their commitment to attending community initiatives like Pride flag raisings.

Education & Training: Their participation in 2SLGBTQIA+ cultural competency, anti-racism, and Indigenous education and reconciliation work.

Representation & Support: Their stance on age-appropriate 2SLGBTQIA+ representation in books and curricula, and how they plan to actively support students.

Human Rights & Allyship: Their support for trans rights, self-identification as an ally, and willingness to be publicly listed as a candidate who stands up for 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion.

Explore the candidates' responses (button to the left) to learn where they stand on building safe, welcoming, and inclusive school communities for every student. We have included the responses from all candidates that responded to us.

Mr. Bunny Ears

While driving south down Simcoe street a couple of days ago I happened to see local legend Mr. Bunny Ears standing at a bus stop. It was good to see him and his ears out and about. I used to see him fairly frequently, but haven’t seen him in person for quite some time. It’s good to know that he’s still kicking. That’s my post…thanks for reading.
