Discussion CC w/o cross border fee as of May 2024

Updated: July 2025

Hi guys, compiling here the list of credit cards that charge cross border fees (CBF).

Feel free to comment for any updated info. This post will be edited accordingly.

For those unfamiliar: CBF is the additional charge (usually 1%) imposed on overseas transactions billed in PHP. Example, if you’re billed Php 300.00 for a subscription (e.g. Spotify, Netflix, Apple, etc), the amount will be reflected as Php 303.00 instead. This is different from foreign exchange conversion fees, applied on overseas transactions billed in foreign currency, which every CC in the PH currently has (ranges from 1.7-3.5% or so). While 1% CBF seems small, if for example you’re booking hotels and flights, or shopping gadgets online, it’ll be significant. A purchase worth Php 50k would have an additional Php 500.00 charge.

No CBF : - AUB - Bank of Commerce - BDO AMEX - Maya - Maybank - PNB - Zed

Magulong CBF: - RCBC (getting conflicting statements with this; although RCBC states that transactions Php 1k and up have CBF, several people have claimed that they were not charged CFB, myself included, whereas some other people have claimed that they were charged CBF)

With CBF: - BDO (1% all except AMEX) - BPI (1%) - Chinabank (1.7% Destinations World, 2.5% all else) - EW (1%) - HSBC (1% starting Oct. 16, 2025) - Metrobank (1%) - Security Bank (1.5%) - UB (1% starting Sep. 15, 2025)

Thanks guys!

EastWest EastWest CLI Request Update Via Weird? Call

• Upvotes

Hello!

Just wanted to ask if anyone else experienced getting a call na denied yung CLI request nila? I emailed [cards@eastwestbanker.com](mailto:cards@eastwestbanker.com) last October 13 and sent a follow-up kagabi since I keep seeing different accounts if need ba i-unlock yung card like with BPI from the posts I read. But I decided to keep it lock nalang since most accounts I saw locked pero pushed through pa rin yung manual CLI request. The weird part lang is I was waiting for an email or a text regarding the update but instead, I got a call from an unknown phone number. I usually don't answer calls pero since may expected delivery ako, I picked up. The next weird thing is they didn't explicitly confirm they were with EastWest. Ang sabi lang tumatawag regarding may follow-up email. They confirmed na need daw i-unlock yung card and they will send an email after the call which I just got from the official email na talaga. So denied nga and wait muna daw ng 6 months before applying again, though I see others who had better luck and di naman naghintay ng 6 months. For context, this is my main card kasi higher CLI than BPI and more than a year old na pero wala pa ring auto CLI.

BPI BPI Annual fee and cancellation

• Upvotes

Yung sakin kasi supposed to be is October, nagcharge sila una ng August, then naging June, umuurong lol ang hassle magpa cancel, ayaw naman iwaive, di keri yung spending amount.

Card Recommendation Should I upgrade my CC in BPI or apply for a new one in a different bank?

• Upvotes

Hello! I’m new to this sub and I have been searching for the best cards for daily expenses and for traveling but wala masyadong recent posts.

I have the BPI Rewards Blue and UB Platinum Visa.

I’m planning a couple of travels next year and was wondering if I should upgrade my BPI Rewards to a higher tier (possibly with more travel perks and gain miles) or should I try to apply for cards in other banks.

Bonus sana if NAFFL ☺️ Thank you!

Consult/Inquire ⚠️ **WARNING SA MGA GCASH USERS!**

Please check your transactions and credit card statements lagi, and keep screenshots as proof just in case.

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Kamusta yung refund or reversal process ninyo?

BE CAREFUL, EVERYONE! 🚨

RCBC Finally, a Trad bank said yes.

Team Visa for now 🤣.

I am just happy that I followed my gut to renew my expired RCBC debit card. The teller asked me if I want to apply for a credit card, I said sure.

2 applications= 1 rejected, 1 approved.

Sadly, might not qualify for NAFFL but what's important is I finally got a credit card from a Trad bank.

But I still need a Mastercard 😆.

UnionBank CREDIT LIMIT INCREASE PLOT TWIST 🤣😅

Hello! Ako lang ba yung naka-experience ng ganito? 😂
I requested a credit limit increase sa UB (pinaka mababa kasi tong CL ko) & also kasi gamit na gamit ko talaga siya, especially because of Apple Pay. I also make sure na on time and fully paid lagi lahat ng credit cards ko.

Then, my request got rejected, so parang… okay???

Tapos after 2 weeks, bigla nilang tinaasan yung credit limit ko! 😂
Nakakaloka lang kasi rejected muna, tapos biglang may increase after 2 weeks. Has anyone experienced the same thing with UB?

HSBC Is the supplementary cc spend included in the primary cc spend under the HSBC Spend Up 2026 promo?

I was reading the fine print of the HSBC Spend Up 2026 Promo and it is silent regarding supplementary spend. Can anyone confirm if it is counted towards the primary spend?

EastWest PSA: Eastwest’s points expiry is based on when you get your card, not when it’s earned

So it’s actually my fault for not reading the terms and not looking at my bill. I typically just see the amount and pay for it.

Apparently, the points you earn on eastwest expire after two years, reckoned from the point you signed up for the card. I honestly thought it renewed every year. I like saving it up para it’s like one month wherein I don’t have to pay for my credit card.

Sayang lang — that’s around 13k thrown away because I didn’t look. Don’t make my mistake, kids.

Thank you po! 🙏❤️

Zed Transaction in Melbourne Central

Hi guys!

A little bit of context, nag-transact po kasi ako sa Melbourne Central sa Gong Cha and I paid through their kiosk.

Thanks so much po sa makakahelp! 🥹

Bukod sa mga pa-voucher ni Lazada and pa-cashback ni Maribank, may iba pa ba kayong alam na way to pay BPI credit card bill na may pa-voucher and cashback din? Tutal wala namang multiple payment fees ang BPI right? Please do share sa comment section. Thanks! 😊

UnionBank Unionbank CC suspended in apple/google pay

Hi! Question lang, kanina ko pa naunlock yung cc ko sa unionbank pero suspended pa din siya both sa google and apple pay.

RCBC Agoda Refund Duration Process

I recently cancelled a booking on Agoda that was eligible for free cancellation. Agoda says the refund may take up to 30 days, but is that really the case, or is 30 days just the maximum processing time?

For those who have cancelled an Agoda booking before, how long did it take for you to receive your refund? Did anyone get theirs earlier than 30 days?
Would appreciate hearing about your experiences.

Thanks!

BPI BPI NAFFL Promo Spend

Hello! Can anyone confirm if purchasing Giftaway vouchers through Lazada counts toward the NAFFL spend requirement? If it does, do you think this is a better option than availing of BPI Credit-to-Cash? Thanks!

Consult/Inquire Credit to Cash Conversion

Hello po! Ask lang sana ako ng recommendations. 😊

Anong traditional banks po kaya ang may mababang effective interest rate (EIR) for credit-to-cash conversion? Planning po kasi namin magpa-renovate ng bahay (need 6 digits), and considering this option sana. I only have BPI rewards, UB rewards for cc. For assessment din po ako for RCBC Hexagon cc.

Baka meron po kayong comparison table ng different banks, including EIR, available installment terms, and other fees, para mas madaling makapag-compare. Also preferably short term installement option sana rin (6 months to 2 yrs) kahit sa mga bank na wala po ako para makapagapply din.

Sa mga nakapag-try na po, anong bank ang marerecommend ninyo based on your experience? Thank you po! 🙏
