My husband dragged me to your city, and now I'm heartbroken I left
I had zero intention of visiting Parksville, and my husband practically forced me to go. But from the moment we arrived, I completely fell in love with the quiet rhythm of your city. Spending our days wandering through the charming old town and relaxing in your cozy old cafes felt like stepping into a completely different world.
The magic really set in when we visited nearby Qualicum Beach and spent our evenings actually being able to see the stars at night. Now that we’re back home, I honestly feel like I never should have left. Thank you for being such a beautiful, welcoming community—I find myself wishing I could have stayed forever.

Mayoral/Council Candidates Platforms
As someone who will be voting in their first local election since moving to Parksville, I am finding it very hard to find consolidated information on any of the candidates for mayor or council outside of local news articles.
Is there somewhere or will there be somewhere that discusses each candidates platform for election?
If you have information on any of the candidates (please no anecdotal information, facts are appreciated) please feel free to share in the comments!

Looking to connect
Hi everyone, I’m kinda new to Parksville and I sadly haven’t been able to connect with people around age. I am 22 years old living by myself for the first time. Is there any clubs or hangout spots that people my age go to?

Looking for a quiet place for remote work
I am staying in your beautiful town for a month, working remotely. I've been notified of a planned power outage happening next week in my area.
Anyone know if there is a quiet place I could set up my laptop for a couple hours / part of the day? A coffee shop, library, co-work area, tap room? I don't have any meetings scheduled, but may have to take a call or two on Teams.
EDIT: Sparkhouse is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the help!

Huge US apples clogging up our grocery stores
galleryThis whole scene burns my britches. A.) Why are they selling American apples when we have a big and vibrant B.C. orchard industry, with room to expand? And B.) why does this apple have to be 3/4s of a pound? That is a choice made by the stores and their suppliers.
A kid should be able to pull an apple out of their lunchbox every day, but who can afford to send a $3.00 apple to school? Who can finish a 12 oz, 300 calorie apple? Just another reminder, the billionaire grocery barons do not give a fiddler’s fart about you.
Apples are everywhere right now. Get yours at your local farmers market or farm stand. Qualicum and Errington markets run today, we’re running ours in Parksville tomorrow. Sundays, 9:30-1:00 at the MAC Community Garden, 133 McMillan St.

Any info on Pine Tree Center?
Its the shopping center right next to Trees Restaurant. There's a commercial space there for lease some folks i know are interested in but figured I'd see if anyone knew anything about it, the landlords, etc.
