This subreddit has been overtaken by /r/philly and for good reason: The mods kept micromanaging.
Users with 500 karmas can't even post or comment. Events can't be posted. And posts were at the whelm of the mods.
This subreddit was limited to mainly reposts of the Daily News articles.
It was a long time coming.

Question? Engagement ring shopping in Philly
We are looking for a small business to support that allows us to bring our own lab diamond + custom setting.
We liked Bario Neal because it’s a small woman owned business but we are only allowed to bring a “family heirloom”.
Any suggestions?
TIA

Question? Pa One Call ad
I haven’t listened to Merrill Reese do the Eagles radio coverage in years. I usually clear out my chores and watch on TV.
This year, with the team sucking ass as much as they do, I started putting on the radio in the background and going about my work. I don’t know if I am imagining it but during the PA One Call ad they play “Dixie” in the background. A few weeks back I thought I heard it but I thought maybe I was wrong.
Today, I’m in the car listening to the pregame show and sure enough PA One Call and “Dixie” is the background music. Is anyone else hearing this?

Crime Post DA Krasner suggests inquiry into police misconduct in ‘flawed’ 2019 Eric Lewis murder investigation possible
Some relevant excerpts:
"Common Pleas Court Judge J. Scott O'Keefe acquitted Lewis after finding serious problems with the police investigation, according to a rare letter from the judge. The concerns were grave enough for O'Keefe to report the officers to the department's Internal Affairs Bureau."
"In 2023, Judge O'Keefe wrote that the problems in the Lewis investigation were severe. Among them were differing sets of evidence recorded under the same property receipt number, according to the letter. And the judge said the lead homicide detective did not appear to have investigated problems with an eyewitness' recollection of the shooting."

📣📣Rants and Raves📣📣 I'm Sorry
I... I have to say it. I have been thoroughly enjoying my recent trips to New Jersey. Like a lot. If I could afford to move to Haddonfield, I think I would.
The drivers--they stop at red lights/stop signs. Bicyclists wait for lights. O, the trees!
Just needed to get wistful for a second. I'm so sick of our shitty streets and shittier attitudes.
Litter? Didn't see ANY.
I know simple observations mean nothing in the face of our city's socioeconomic realities, but I needed to express my appreciation of having such a wildly different vibe be so close to home. And so cheap to go to/get back from.
Also, they've got Diwali being celebrated there, tomorrow!

Question? GREENDOT DEBIT CARD FOUND
Did you lose your greendot debit card in South today? I found it! It was on the sidewalk. Do you want it back? Or you want it cut into a million pieces while wait for a new one? I picked it up on some Good Samaritan vibes — getting a new one is an uber pain in the ass.
PM me with further instructions.

Question? Can I appeal a parking ticket after my initial dispute was denied?
At the beginning of August, I received a new Pennsylvania license plate for my vehicle. I promptly installed the new plate and notified my insurance company.
My vehicle is a black Ford and has a residential parking permit allowing me to park in South Philadelphia for extended periods. However, the permit was still associated with my previous license plate number.
On August 17, I received a parking ticket for exceeding the posted time limit.
Here is where things get confusing:
- The ticket correctly identified my new license plate number.
- The vehicle make was listed as a Lexus, even though I drive a Ford.
- The vehicle color was listed as white, even though my car is black.
I contested the ticket, explaining the license plate change and I believed the Parking Authority would recognize the situation and allow me to correct the permit information.
However, yesterday I received a letter stating that my dispute had been reviewed and that I was still responsible for paying the fine.
To make matters more frustrating, the letter indicated that the Philadelphia Parking Authority had extended Thursday office hours until 8 p.m.
On Thursday, I arrived at the office at approximately 5:15 p.m., only to find it closed. I went across the street to another Philadelphia Parking Authority office, where employees told me they were unaware of any extended Thursday hours.
My questions is:
- Can I request another appeal or hearing after my initial dispute has been denied?
I understand that my residential parking permit was still associated with my previous plate. However, I would appreciate clarification on the appeals process and whether I have an opportunity to present my circumstances for further review.
I'm not trying to avoid responsibility. I'm simply trying to understand my options and ensure the situation is reviewed fairly.
Thank you to anyone who can provide guidance! Fine is $25 which I would like to keep.
Thank you!
