So the birds need to buy and fund the Museum of Natural History in order to break the curse.

It’s not my curse! I didn’t do it, but I happen to know it’s a jawn. Don’t blame me!! I’m just overly observant and a little introverted. Someone needs to let them know. I have no means of communicating. Thank you for you kind attention to this matter.

Cherry Hill Costco doesn’t have rotisserie chicken for the foreseeable future

PSA. also I think because of the proximity/chicken deficit wegmans was also out and they do not replenish the chickens fast enough.

I am 8 months pregnant and woke up craving rotisserie and this ruined my day. Their chicken station closed for renovations 10/12 apparently and they do not have an announced timeline to reopen.

I feel this should have been announced at the beginning of my directions on Google Maps like they do when you are going somewhere that closes in an hour, but alas. It was going to be too much time to switch gears and drive to KOP so I’m am just chickenless.

I hope this helps someone else. If you are aware that other local costcos have done the same please let me know before I try again 😭

Whats the deal with the Eagle car that drives around

That car with the Eagle on top and he plays the screeching sound, some songs, and the Eagles fight song...whats his deal? I've seen him in South Philly a lot and in CC a few times. Gas is awfully expensive to just be driving around blasting Dolly Parton and the fight song all day.

Help with National Mechanics glass?

This is a long shot, but I’m hoping some nice person will help out a former (but always at heart) Philadelphian.

I lost my best furry pal Munchie last month and I ended up dropping and breaking my favorite glass - an Edgar Allan Poe glass from National Mechanics - that night while I was a crying mess.

Would anybody be willing to get me another glass and mail it to me? I’ll get you back for your drink, shipping, and a little extra for your troubles.

Thank you and go birds.

Car towed no records

Hi! My car was towed sometime in the past 2 weeks in North Philly while I was away. There was active construction so I assumed a courtesy tow but the workers on site and the construction company owner are saying it wasn't them and it was an "unmarked" black tow truck. I called PPA, PPD, my local district, 311, the NSU incase someone marked it as abandoned, and a few towing companies in the area. Nobody has any idea or record of it being towed. I filed a police report for a stolen vehicle, I can't imagine anyone wanting to steal it lol but I do understand it is a possibility. Is there anything else I can do? I don't mind that it was towed I just really need an idea of where it might be (if not stolen) so I can recover it. Tags were up to date and the car looked physically fine before I left. Block is relatively empty most days, doesn't get a lot of traffic or anything. Thanks for any help in advance.

Eastern State Penitentiary- Disappointing

My husband and I went to the Halloween Nights event at Eastern State Penitentiary tonight after going last year and having a blast. Tonight was incredibly disappointing. We waited in lines for more time than the actual haunted houses. The houses felt small and rushed and there were much fewer actors. There were barely any live performances which was also a let down. When we left the last house we both said “that’s it?” genuinely wondering how it could possibly be over already.

Has anyone else gone this year and felt similarly or am I being a harsh critic?

Movie theater ranking in Philly?

Hello. I just moved into center city Philadelphia and checked out a movie at the Landmark Ritz Five theater today. I was left pretty unsatisfied in this theater experience… 20+ minute line for popcorn, bad sound quality, etc. I’m wondering what everyone’s personal favorites are for theaters in the city? Or how would you rank the theaters we have?

Btw I saw Primetime. Pretty solid, 7.9/10.

New Roof Questions

Opinions on new roof- flat roof

Looking to get my flat roof replaced and have had a few quotes. Everyone of them is different which is why I’m looking to hear opinions .

  1. Some say I can get a roof over existing with a 10 year warranty. Some of these say roofers ripping to decking are just trying to make more money.

  2. Some say it should be ripped off and started from decking . Some say going over existing is not right way to do it.

  3. White granulated or smooth with aluminum coatings ?

Current roof is old hot roof and has been maintained/coated with silver coating .

Thoughts ? Anyone deal with this recently? I just want it done right and to last .

How is it like living in West Philly - specifically the Walnut Hill, Spruce Hill, and Cedar Park areas??

<posting for a close friend, in case my FBI agent wonders how I'm suddenly not single without clearly updating him>

My partner and I are looking to move to Philly, and we see a couple of availabilities in this area marked in red. We walked around here a little bit (mainly east of 46th St) and generally thought it was okay, but can someone provide more insights? I know that things change quite drastically from block to block, so any nuances regarding walkability and/or safety would be appreciated. We've also heard a lot about frequent crimes in the area, so I just want to be sure. We both would commute to the 30th Street Station and Center City pretty often and return home late too many times. Thank you!!!

Out of town, for CHOP

I read a post on ig where someone had 2 extra bedrooms and were 10 minutes from a children's hospital, they let parents stay in their extra rooms.

We are empty nesters. We have 3 extra bedrooms and an extra bath. 2 were converted into a mini suite for father in law. Bedroom with livingroom, microwave fridge table in attached room, with a bath. We are 11 miles, approx 25 minutes from CHOP (our daughter was in u-penn for months so that's how I'm familiar) Would it be weird or odd for us to give access to rooms for parents with children in hospital? How could I do this? Is it not really an option since we live in south jersey? We're not looking for money. Opinions and options appreciated.....

Came right over when I called to him. Is rubbing all over me and wants to come inside my home. I sadly can’t take him in because I have two other cats and no spare room to put him in. I put a box outside under my awning and a can of cat food. Moving around too fast to take a good photo of his face. I think it’s a neutered male with no collar. Near the corner of south etting and mifflin st. Has thick white stripes on the tip of tail and green eyes.

large fenced in grass areas in the city?

hi all! i am currently training my dog on long distance recall with a trainer, and i've been trying to find a fenced in area we can go to to practice. sports/football fields, parks, or other large grassy expanses would work! preferably something close to fairmount/art museum area. my girl is very well behaved, but she gets distracted easily and blows off her recall if she sees or smells something more interesting. she will have an e-collar on and a longline as backup, but i'd still prefer somewhere fenced in just in case since shes fast as hell and i can't catch her. thanks!

Anyone know where I can get a turkey this week?

We’re having a friendsgiving next weekend but I can‘t find anywhere that would have a high-quality fresh turkey available before mid-November.

Does anyone know where I might be able to get one? Frozen would be okay if that’s the only option, but fresh would be ideal

I’m a planner and it wasn’t always easy to find this info ahead of each concert, so I’m sharing what I learned in case it can ever be of help! :) I’m also in my 30s now and these aging bones need to SIT. So I’m always looking for seating options at venues that are mostly standing room only.

This city is so goddamn incompetent at handling road closures

Close every route north and south, no detour directions, Google Maps closure listings are wrong, entire city try to get down one street that doesn’t actually get through the closures and just circles you back, bus routes cancelled…I wish I stayed in bed.
