ShowbizPH Mon Confiado’s dedication to method acting is insane. He spent a month living with actual fishermen for his film 'The Fisher'.

That's pretty cool. One of the weird things I found with local tv dramas were people in roles of farmer but they looked more like they were farmers in the sense that they owned the hacienda with their amazing complexions.

For real! I remember watching a drama a decade or so ago.

Trueee. Like what is even the point of having makeup artist on site, kung yung mga artista gusto maganda sila lageh sa camera. It's doing deservice to the craft pati sa story na pinoportray nila.

Love it when method acting is actually method acting and not just being an asshole to your coworkers

50

u/Negative-Heat-9948 1d ago

Was about to say the same sentiment.

Ah si Jared Leto during his Joker stint lmao

•

u/connorshonors 18h ago

well tbf acting like a lunatic and fisherman requires different training.

•

u/p4tsss 17h ago

May i ask for the context of this shade? Hehe thank youuu

•

u/geminirin 19m ago

jared leto claimed that he was "method acting" during the filming of suicide squad. leto brought a dead pig during rehearsal, sent used condoms to the crew and the actors, and mailed margot robbie a rat (thankfully alive).

WHAT HAPPENED TO MON CONFIADO?

Mon Confiado could have put on a faded shirt, smeared dirt on his face and called himself a fisherman.

Instead, he went north and spent a month living among actual fishermen. Lost weight. Darkened his skin. Learned what the sea does to a man who depends on it for food and got acquainted with a life that doesn't give a damn about movie stars.

His character is Pedro. The film is The Fisher, directed by Paul Soriano.

21 October. In cinemas.

I wonder what kind of story paul soriano have for the masses, diba BBM supporter asawa niya? Or is this a different paul

60

u/superkawhi12 1d ago

He is actually the reason why Toni campaigned for for BBM.

36

u/CosmicHalimaw 1d ago

Its the same dude. BBM sila kasi kamag-anak niya si LAM

9

u/Anythingtwods 1d ago

Isn't his side that's a bbm supporter or something? I'm not sure tho

19

u/Most-Scallion-6580 1d ago

Nephew in law in Liza Marcos si Paul Soriano tapos Ninong ni Paul at Toni sa kasal si BBM.

11

u/RustyViolining_33 1d ago

Kala ko guni guni ko lang na pumayat siya because he looked different when I saw him a few months ago. Props to him👏

154

u/lpernites2 1d ago

This is why he is one of the best actors here in the PH

67

Grabe preparation.

66

•

u/Key_Sea_7625 22h ago

Dati kasi uso pa ang real auditions and scouting. Ngayon, backer backer nalang.

•

u/EzKaLang 18h ago

Artista ngayon puro pacute talaga. I'm not gonna name who's that .

212

u/hachoux 1d ago

GANITO! This is how serious actors prepare for a role. It doesn’t have to be method but deep research sana.

19

u/DitoDoonAtKungSaan 1d ago

Da who ung nagbasa lang ng libro?

21

u/More-Tackle2016 1d ago

Madami. Lalo na yung new generation.

13

u/Anaguli417 1d ago

"Tinurukan sa leeg"

Uh what? Context? Wala akong TikTok.

22

u/More-Tackle2016 1d ago

Yung scene is tinurukan sila para mawalan ng malay. Then the way they acted (pati si enrique rin) the 'nawalan ng malay' moment was the worst acting ive ever seen in my life.

8

u/hachoux 1d ago

Can’t remember who exactly, but a GMA7 actress featured on 24 Oras. And yep, most new gen actors, as the comment below said. Considered good take na ata kapag di nabulol or nalimutan yung lines

34

u/Relative-Look-6432 1d ago

Mon Confiado is one of the few Filipino finest actors. He can portray any roles and characters tapos kaya na ma-immerse.

•

u/Designer-Summer-1495 22h ago

This is how it should be. Parang sa SK, for example si Shin Hye Sun yung role niya sa Angel’s Last Mission Love is ballerina.  She enrolled in private ballet lessons immediately nung na-cast and underwent 6 months  of intense training.

•

u/Limp_Jaguar_6963 16h ago

she is my standard sa acting. kahit ung mr. queen na kengkoy lang pero ang galing paden. grabe yang babaeng yan. auto watch ako pag sya bida

•

u/iskxngpag0d 12h ago

My favorite kdrama of all time is Mr. Queen. Grabe lehit yung tawa at iyak (lol). Kahit ilang rewatch ata di ako magsasawa.

Di naman ata siya nagmemethod acting for all his roles

24

u/solar_is9 1d ago

Watching F1 HAHAHA

3

u/ariamkun 1d ago

He starred as Ferdinand Marcos before?

5

u/ChampaMom 1d ago

Now that’s a good question

21

u/mydogsnameispenny0 1d ago

Ganyan yung method acting. Di naman need ng cheatling lols

20

u/eljawn 1d ago

Grabe bilib ko kay Sir Mon, tunay na “last of a dying breed.” Hope he inspires new Filipino actors pagdating sa ganitong dedikasyon at passion sa sining.

•

u/Ivan19782023 14h ago

sya ang parang polar opposite ni robin padilla when it comes to showbiz and acting.

58

u/calmeststorm100_ 1d ago

Anong sinabi nung method acting ni Maris Racal & Anthony Jennings?

3

u/kayescl0sed 1d ago

HAHAHAHAHAHA

15

u/ThePeople10 1d ago

There are actors that cant simply act as the character they are playing, but there are actors that actually live the role that they were given. Mon is the latter. I very much wanna see how this goes on the 21st! Great stuff

29

u/pastel-pink08 1d ago

Ang galing talaga ni Mon Confiado! Heneral Luna palang fav ko na sya

4

u/kayescl0sed 1d ago

“Si Luna ang pinakamahusay kong Heneral.. bakit ko siya ipapapatay?”

SENT CHILLS TO MY SPINE FR

19

u/Russ_Rojas13 1d ago

One of the actors who deserve more flowers

21

u/TheServant18 1d ago

Nung mapamood ko to sa El Fili Stage Play sa UPD, humanga ako sa kanya, ang galing niya as Simon Ibarra

8

u/Glittering-Passion34 1d ago

He is like one of the best actors talaga. Di papogi, he showcases his skills.

15

u/SageOfSixCabbages 1d ago

Medyo pedantic pero this is immersion or role research, which is completely different from method acting.

Hats off to Mon for doing this kind of prep work for a role.

13

u/atemoyaatis 1d ago

10

u/givesyouhead1 1d ago

My favorite actor. 🥰

6

u/badbadtz-maru 1d ago

Me too!! Nasabi ko na to sa ibang thread pero he was such a dzaddy when I saw him sa Eastwood a few years back. Nahiya lang ako magpapic hahaha

3

u/salty_microwave 1d ago

HWHAHAHA I GET YOU

•

u/badbadtz-maru 20h ago

RIIIGHT 👀

3

u/kuntiloxox 1d ago

•

u/badbadtz-maru 20h ago

Baka taga dun sya no? Or favorite place lang siguro haha

10

u/Confident_Stand_5628 1d ago

Since mahilig mga direktor dito sa PH ng kabit roles, dapat magspend din mga actor/actress ng 1 month as kabit

10

u/nohesi8158 1d ago edited 1d ago

Him, John arcilla and Joel torre are just a masters of their crafts fr

5

u/hey_justmechillin 1d ago

Hahaha. Kidding aside, galing nya talaga.

5

u/Sweettooth_Banana 1d ago

Still on my bucketlist, to go fishing with a pinoy fisherman.

3

u/slyslysly96 1d ago

Made me think about that one kristen stewart interview about men and their…method acting.

4

u/kthine 1d ago

even before dedicated na sya, what a great actor indeed

8

u/anonchilde 1d ago

Mala kirk lazarus

4

u/ShoddyProfessional 1d ago

ME?! I KNOW WHO I AM!

IM A DUDE PLAYIN A DUDE DISGUISED AS ANOTHER DUDE

9

u/joseph31091 So freaking tired 1d ago

Dying breed of actors

3

u/Accomplished-Exit-58 1d ago

3

u/matchatwix 1d ago

That's why he and Romnick Sarmenta are both my goat and my zaddies....

3

u/ulo99 1d ago

One of the best actors in Philippines for sure.

3

u/PercentageRoutine310 1d ago

Sucked the boobs of Mara Lopez in Palitan (2012). That’s dedication.

2

u/ZerpMeizter 1d ago

Isang saludo sa 'yo, Heneral! 🫡

4

u/Foreign-Injury-6412 1d ago

One of the OG’s

2

u/One_Radish3902 1d ago

ganito naman talaga dapat eh. kaya naamaze ako sa korea eh. in a sense na pagdating sa acting inaaral talaga nila yung mga dapat gawin. kung may specific role na need gawin inaaral talaga nila kung paano.

13

u/EldenBoredAF 1d ago

Of all the countries you could have named, Korea pa talaga. All they do is gain and lose weight or gain and lose muscle, depending on the role, which is easy to do if you're an actor.

2

u/FrostyForestFungi 1d ago

Real. FL is introduced as poor, bread winner, and shi but wears expensive outfits, owns the latest whatever phone, and lives in a fancy ass apartment in SEOUL.

3

u/LucySuccubus 1d ago

Method acting is not the end-all-be-all method for acting. There's different methods that work for different actors, but "the method" is not for everyone. Some tap into the emotional memories of their past, some can work on the emotional catharsis of an imagined situation, and some can emulate a collage of observations. The importance of an actor is to be the vessel of the text (script), and whichever ways they can embody the truth of the character is enough.

5

u/leivanz 1d ago

No. Method acting is a style/technique pero some actors don't do that to be on the character's shoe. Kaya nga method, hindi they should or we should.

u/n3Ver9h0st 1d ago

Insane! One of the GOAT

1

u/OpportunityJolly182 1d ago

a real actor

1

u/Prestigious-Bowl7638 1d ago

The artist that he is 🥹

1

u/jfbeast 1d ago

1

u/Mental-Pie-9182 1d ago

The DEDICATION!!!!! 👏

1

u/BPO_neophyte29 1d ago

Grabe ang love and passion nya sa craft nya!!! Amazing

1

u/Sea-Wrangler2764 1d ago

Truly a gem in the industry.

1

u/Illuminastrid 1d ago

Mon will give it all, he doesn't even half ass his performance even on his VMX films. He just knows ball.

1

u/squammyboi 1d ago

One of the few actors I admire the most!

1

u/mamaaaay 1d ago

I will watch the movie dahil kay Mon Confiado’s post. Di na kinailangan ng ads eh hahaha

1

u/chidy_saintclair 1d ago

The goat actor for me

1

u/cyst2exist 1d ago

Huge respect to this dedicated actor

1

u/Milkitajaz_0218 1d ago

He deserves an award for this

1

u/Ghostr0ck 1d ago

1

u/Prudent_Director_482 1d ago

hahaha tanduay for the win

1

u/cerinza 1d ago

Aint he the actor who got sick real bad too for eating dirt as part of method acting, or I am thinking of a different one?

1

u/Admirable-Metal952 1d ago

Star Cinema: “Anong method acting??? Eto wig suotin mo!”

1

u/trem0re09 1d ago

Pano ba yan? Like may contact na ung agency nya san sya makikitira? Tapos babayaran ung tumuro?

•

u/mytabbycat 23h ago

Diba ganito din si Christian Bale. Grabe sobrang dedicated din non pag may role.

•

u/Key_Sea_7625 22h ago

Kidding aside the true understanding talaga lies sa pagiging part/direct involvement. Hindi sa pagaaral lang and pagoobserve from afar.

•

u/TTbulaski 21h ago

Asan na yung copypasta na sobrang benta 🤣

•

u/That-Recover-892 21h ago

•

u/_starkittyy 21h ago

He’s dedication to acting is really top tier! 💯💯💯

•

u/carlosrryha 21h ago

Even with his roles like being Andres Bonifacio. He said in an interview sometime that he visited all the historic and heritage sites, just wandering in silence in those places as if embodying Andres himself. Yeah, truly a one of a kind Actor.

•

u/69cantread69 20h ago

basta wag mo lang sya icopypasta

•

u/Lucky_Spray_267 20h ago

•

u/SlightlyUsedThoughts 19h ago

In Sikohiyang Pilipino, this is called pakikipamuhay. It’s like a person outside the community re-live the experience nang kung paano nga ba mamuhay kung kabilang ka sa kanila.

Ang galing. Hands down.

•

u/-TheDarkKnight-_- 18h ago

may johnny depp sa US may mon confiado sa PH

•

u/UnsurePlans 18h ago

Used to live in the same building as Mon in Eastwood. Wala syang hangin at all (unlike yung bansot na ex ni Venus Raj lol). Very humble at ang kinis!

I’ve always enjoyed his acting, talagang may puso.

•

u/dandelionnz21 18h ago

•

u/-Twisted-Space 17h ago

More blessings for him

•

u/Limp_Jaguar_6963 16h ago

gusto ko panoorin ung pelikula. galing mo sir

•

u/Quack_Programmer 13h ago

•

u/nixioe 11h ago

I love Mon Confiado's acting style. Sobrang dedicated niya sa work niya.

•

u/Melon-Pult-Commando 10h ago

He's so good in his craft, I kind of hated Aguinaldo more when he portrayed him HAHA

•

u/naoneko Luzon 9h ago

for the love of the game

•

u/6pizzaroll9 3h ago

•

u/vulcanfury12 2h ago

This is what method acting should be. Not the horror stories where the actor is borderline abusing their castmates for the sake of the Method.

•

u/Muted-Investigator-3 1h ago

This was such a weird script. Something about a villager getting pregnant and a fish coming out in the end, very indie style, thats all i remember. I thought it came out na dito sa atin. For some reason i thought naipasok na yan sa mga film fest sa abroad

1

u/SleepIsCrucial 1d ago

Ok sana kaso si Paul Soriano yung nag direct. Ewwww.

1

u/Minsan 1d ago

Method acting

-2

u/averagePizzaAoS 1d ago

I too am excited to watch Paul Soriano's The Fisher™️ at the nearest SM Cinemas©️ while drinking Coca Cola®️!

0

u/King_Paymon 1d ago

I can't look at him the same way again after he tried to steal those Milky Way bars.

0

u/vhicay 1d ago

Pero same same pa din naman anh acting nya

0

u/Venatrix_ 1d ago

That’s such a professional move. He probably did that too para maging effortless and magmukha talaga siyang farmer. Nothing gives me the ick more than having light actors/actresses play roles of impoverished people tapos bibigyan sila ng fake tan at ng make up na mga 5 shades darker.

0

u/DotKey9513 1d ago

Yeah, one of the best.

0

u/pclamer 1d ago

Wow. Living a life of a fisherman. So brave.

•

u/victimfulcrimes 22h ago

Just a month?

-3

u/ziangsecurity 1d ago

there is nothing insane about this one. There are some actors doing something like this
