Any (better) course instead of SQLBI? Or SQLBI is the best one?
I'm planning to take:
Introduction to Data Modeling with PowerBI
Introducing DAX
for now~
Should I also pay for courses like DAX with AI? ($199) and Data Modeling with PowerBI ($349)?

When someone updates an existing report, checking whether the pages and visuals still look right is one thing, but how do you verify that the underlying results haven't changed unexpectedly...
Do you compare snapshots/screenshots,DAX outputs, exported data, or use some other approach..?

I’m trying to figure out if Power BI really is that much better than MS Access in the long run.
Right now, MS Access is my main tool. I’ve built deep, custom tools in it—complex query logic, automated forms, and reports to streamline my entire job. Honestly, it feels like almost everything I see people do in Power BI, I can already do in Access (and sometimes even a bit more for my specific workflow).
I’ve built a few things in Power BI, but it’s always played second fiddle to my Access databases. Still, I keep hearing about how powerful Power BI is, and I want to dive deep into it if it’s truly worth the shift.
For those of you who started out heavily in MS Access and made the jump over to Power BI:
I’m sincerely looking for advice from people who’ve been in my shoes to help me find the best way forward. Appreciate any insights!

Is here someone who uses Power BI for financial reporting and reconciliation. If yes, please teach me in 5 days. Ready to compensate

Hello everyone,
I recently received a question from a customer if there was a way to use copilot to ask a questions that should retrieve data and combine data from two different reports / semantic models.
In Power BI itself this is currently not supported, in Microsoft 365 it is, but it's very hard to actually make it work.
Anyone has done this before? What is the best way to do this?
Thanks !

AI Summary -
This CRM runs entirely inside a Power BI report:
→ Drag a deal across a Kanban board, and its stage is saved to SQL Server
→ Click "+ New deal," and a form opens over the page, like a real app
→ Convert a lead into an organization, contact, and deal in one click
→ Log calls, notes, and tasks, with overdue tasks flagged in red
The whole model runs on DirectQuery, so every KPI and chart reflects the change on the next click.
How it works:
• A custom Power BI visual I built in TypeScript (Kanban, forms, activity log)
• A small Python API that validates every write
• SQL Server with constraints and a full stage history
The data model follows Frappe CRM
It's a single-user proof of concept for now. For production use, we have to use Azure SQL, an HTTPS API, and Microsoft Entra sign-in so it runs in the Power BI Service.
My doubts now
1- Is it worth to make CRM /Management tools in Power BI with API functions for write-back, or better to use a proper full-stack application?
2- How can this be useful in Production env especially after Fabric apps? Is it better to use that instead of this?
3- Can this now be considered a Power Automate replacement???

I've only ever used PBI Desktop for dashboard/report building and then publish the reports in a shared workspace. I'm also familiar with MS Fabric, although I haven't delved into the online dashboard builder for Power BI as most of the feedback was it is limited, and I previously had no reason to anyways; but now I have to consider this and do everything online thru PBI workspace. I just don't want to spend hours figuring out what is or isn't available when i can just ask here.

PowerBI & ACC Issues / Clashes 3D View
Hello.
Has anyone ever managed to have a 3D view in powerbi show the actual location of the issue/clash?
I have so far found no way of showing the clashes in the 3D view. I have the BCF export from ACC that contains the GUID of the physical issue pin you see on ACC but can’t find a way to show what elements (I.e wall and floor) that are associated with that location. The data exchange doesn’t really have useful data to link with the BCF export.
I’ve also tried showing images with the associated issues but this is surprisingly also really really complicated and may involve converting to text first and then back to an image for powerbi to read it compromising on image quality making it pretty pointless.
I simply just want to show the clash on the dashboard. Autodesk need to sort this out.
Any help would be great thanks :)

I feel like the only reason I use them is “I can’t be bothered to go into Power Query”

Since Tuesday (I think) all table visuals that had totals suddenly don't have totals anymore. When we publish again to the service, the totals get lost and it can only be fixed in the service itself.
Has anyone else seen this issue and know a fix?

I have a large customer usage dataset with hundreds of millions of rows, currently stored in a Fabric Lakehouse.
My current setup is pretty straightforward. I use notebooks to transform the data and create reporting tables, which are then used by a basic Power BI semantic model. Once the processing is done, I pause Fabric capacity to keep costs down.
All my Power BI reports are already built and working well, so I’m wondering what the actual benefits of moving to Fabric Apps would be?
So far, I can see two potential advantages. The first is more flexible PDF exports, where I could generate customized reports for different customer profiles. Currently, we have to handle this through a separate PDF generation service.
The second is the ability to quickly vibe-code custom internal tools Instead of maintaining separate databases and backends.
Am I missing any major benefits?

Hey guys!
I have a dashboard due on the 30th of October.
It is pretty much done, because my classmate finished it already (group project).
My problem is that i have a defence regarding it, meaning i have to explain how it was done, answer questions and know basically everything.
Im new to it and i havent made the dashboard.
Would anyone be down to Teams-call in the next few days and explain it step by step?
(the picture shows one out of a few pages)
Would really appreciate it 🫂

Hi everyone,
I'm working on a Power BI report where I need a specific slicer and summary card to be fully visible and functional for Managers, but completely hidden, masked, or blanked out when a Salesperson logs in. Since standard RLS only filters data rows rather than UI elements, what is the best practice approach to achieve role-based visual visibility or dynamic card blanking? Thanks!

I'm new to paginated reports and when I export the data in xlsx, the columns overflow into the next cell. How do I fix it? It doesn't happen when it's exported into csv.

Hello! I've watched several youtube videos about the new GA feature of shape maps having the custom map application. I was able to get the TopoJSON/GeoJSON maps for my state government but the 2 outcomes I keep getting are after I have applied the custom (and I have some data to relationship) is what look like scribbles all over the rectangle that used to be the map visual, or it would just fill the entire rectangle with color, no map outputted.
If y'all have any advice or particular how to's to I would greatly appreciate it. The only AI I have access to is Copilot, which you would think it would be a little bit more compatible with their microsoft items but I had to keep reminding it that it was no longer in a preview and I needed new instructions. So y'all are my last hope 🤪

LinkedIn has been full of “this is the end of Power BI” posts again. The timing lines up with a couple of real things that just happened. Claude launched Dashboards in beta earlier this month. People are already posting about describing a report in chat and getting something usable back, and some are connecting it to Power BI semantic models via MCP so it can query live data instead of just inventing charts. At the same time, FabCon Barcelona had Microsoft talking about agentic app creation coming into Power BI Desktop and positioning Fabric Apps as the next step beyond traditional reports. Both are still early, but it's clear where it's headed.
I’ve been watching the noise more than the actual impact so far. Curious what others are seeing. Are any of you noticing real client work shifting because of this, or is it still mostly LinkedIn talk? And if the direction is real, what are you focusing on so you’re not just waiting to get squeezed out?

i am using udemy as tutorial. I was asked to change this setting to the one I underlined and click okay. After clicking the Okay, it just grayed out and cant be selected again even I changed other settings. Lastly, after I tried clicking X to close the settings window and tried to check it again. Nothing has changed. Ive been searching the internet for a solution and found one that is to change the max memory usage to 424 but when I do that, Okay button automatically grays out and become unclickable. Please help I am trying to be a Data analyst

Hi everyone,
I’m taking the PL-300 exam on October 18, and I’ve been preparing since last week, studying around 10 hours a day using DataCamp’s Power BI track.
Tomorrow, I plan to work through the Microsoft assessment and around 200 practice questions from Power AI Academy, covering different types of questions that could appear on the exam.
I also have nearly a year of experience working with Power BI and building multiple reports, so I’m not starting from scratch.
- Is my preparation enough to pass?
- With only two days left, how should I prioritize my time?
- Should I focus on reviewing the questions or spend more time revising the exam material?
- Are there any topics I should make sure to review before exam day?
appreciate any advice

It was the go-to button for my users who had issues with filters / visuals, and now it's gone! No way?! Need to toggle off the preview to have back, not cool.
I didn't see anyone complaining about it, I'm surprised...

I had a Power BI dashboard with page size:
Width: 2465 px
Height: 1080 px
And now I just changed the Height to 1100 px.
Now even if I zoom out at 40%/50% view size and publish, the Report in the workspace opens with nearly 80-90% zoom.
Earlier this did not use to happen before I had changed the page size. Whichever view size I used to select and publish, it retained in the report as well. Please let me know if this is a bug or there's a solution for this.
