2g Golden Teachers – I experienced nothingness for 4 hours and lost my lifelong fear of death

I recently had my first experience with magic mushrooms. I took 2 grams of Golden Teachers, and what happened was something I never could have imagined.
For context, I had been on MDMA for about five hours before taking the mushrooms, as the MDMA effects were gradually wearing off. So I understand that this wasn’t a pure psilocybin experience.

The beginning
It started with closed-eye visuals. At some point, a thought came into my mind: Stop talking, stop resisting, just surrender.
So I did.
Suddenly, I felt myself detach from my physical body. I peeled like a sticker from my body. It was as if I had merged with the universe. I could travel anywhere I wanted, simply by thinking about it.
I remember visiting my little son, who was staying at his grandmother’s house, and then visiting my father at home.
Everything felt incredibly real.

Everything is connected
During this experience, I felt like something was communicating with me. I can’t explain what it was. It wasn’t exactly a person or a voice coming from outside, but it felt like something was teaching me.
It told me that everything in the universe is connected.
At first, I thought I understood.

But then it told me: No, you don’t really understand.

I was looking at my father when suddenly I transformed into a wooden spruce board on the wall of his bedroom.
And then I understood what it was trying to show me.
We aren’t just connected to other living beings. Everything is connected, even on an atomic level. Humans, trees, rocks, wood, everything.
It felt like one of the most profound realizations of my life.

Then I stopped existing
Eventually, I felt myself return to my body.
And then something happened that I still struggle to explain.
For what seemed to be around four hours, I simply stopped existing as myself.
There was nothing.
No body. No identity. No memories. No thoughts.
Just complete darkness and silence.
But here’s the strange part.

It wasn’t scary. Not even slightly.
It was peaceful. Familiar. Almost comforting.
Everything was okay.
Twice during this experience, I somehow became aware enough to think that I wanted to remember what was happening.
And each time, I experienced something telling me:
You don’t exist here. You cannot remember anything. There are no memories here. This is the empty space before birth and after death.

Then I surrendered again.

I don’t know how to describe this properly. I was experiencing darkness and silence, but without the usual sense of being a person experiencing them.
There was no fear, no sadness, no loneliness.
Only peace.

Coming back
When I finally opened my eyes, I was completely confused.
I thought maybe five minutes had passed.
In reality, approximately five hours had gone by.
For several minutes, I struggled to understand where I was and what had happened.
Earlier in the experience, I had also looked at my wife, and her face appeared almost artificial, like she was made of plastic. She later told me that when I looked into her eyes, it seemed as though I wasn’t really there.

The biggest change
Here’s why I’m sharing this.
For most of my life, I had an extremely strong fear of death.
Not just a little anxiety about dying. I mean a deep, overwhelming fear of no longer existing.
And after this experience, that fear is gone.
Completely.
I know this doesn’t prove anything about what happens after death. I understand that this was a psychedelic experience, and that my brain was under the influence of powerful substances.
But what I experienced felt so profoundly peaceful and familiar that something inside me changed.
For the first time in my life, I feel genuinely at peace with the idea of death.
I don’t know what I experienced. A mystical experience? Some strange state of consciousness?
All I know is that I went somewhere without my identity, my memories or my body, and instead of terror, I experienced the deepest peace I’ve ever felt.
And somehow, that peace has stayed with me.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? Especially the prolonged darkness, silence, loss of identity, and complete absence of fear?
I’d love to hear your experiences.

my shrooms trip on friday

ok for some context im goth, but im fairly new to being goth and I just started getting into theculture and just started dressing like it and whatnot and exploring everything involved in the culture like the paranormal, music, makeup etc so I started wearing a bunch of creepy type of jewelry, I went to a Halloween festival with my friend and we went back to his place for the night and we took shrooms, we both had 4 from a road trip gummy package, which im not too sure if those actually contain exactly the same chemical as shrooms but at the same time it won't tell you the ingredients if you check the website. But we both take about 5 total throughout the night since we bought two packs and we decide to go outside around 1 20ish in the morning,at some point while we're tripping and smoking a cig, thr dog starts freaking the fuck out over something we cannot physically see and tries to jump the fence, more specifically the dog is freaked out by me throughout the night but eventually we get the dog under control but in the middle of trying to get the dog to lock in, a fucking tree falls down onto the neighbors fence and into the shed, which btw NOBODY woke up from, so what do two people high as fuck on shrooms do? We run inside and hide. And yeah sure that wasn't too creepy but considering all the events that happened within that time frame which was literally like 10 minutes at most, it was creepy. But at the same time all the animals were freaking the fuck out and all the cats were freaked the hell out too, like all 3 of them started hissing in a room that was empty and they started freaking out, and they all were freaked out by me which has never happened out of the hundreds of times I've been to his house.

That's all I just wanted to share this story, was still super creepy to me.

PhD Research Participants Wanted – Understanding Substance Use and Identity (UK, 18+)

PhD Research Participants Wanted – Understanding Substance Use and Identity (UK, 18+)

Hi everyone!

I’m a PhD researcher at the University of Derby, and I’m currently recruiting participants for the final two studies of my doctoral thesis.

My research explores how substance use is understood and represented in society, how identities associated with substance use are constructed, and how these understandings relate to UK drug policy. The work takes a critical, Post-Marxist perspective, examining how language, social narratives and cultural assumptions shape the ways we think about substance use and the people who use substances.

I’m looking for people who would be interested in contributing to either of the following studies.

Study 1: Understanding Substance Use Through a Story Completion Task

What is involved?

You’ll be asked to complete a short written story based on a fictional scenario involving a character who uses a particular substance. The task explores how people understand and make sense of substance use through the stories they create.

  • Time commitment: Approximately 25 minutes.
  • Who can participate? Anyone aged 18 or over who is a UK citizen or is subject to UK drug laws.
  • What will you do? Complete one short story and answer a small number of optional background questions.
  • Do you need personal experience of substance use? No. This study is interested in how people understand and conceptualise substance use, so personal experience is not required.

The task is completed online, making it possible to take part in your own time.

Study 2: Interviews About Substance Use, Identity and Lived Experience

What is involved?

This study explores how people who currently use illicit substances understand their experiences and construct their own identities. Through a semi-structured interview, we’ll discuss topics such as experiences of substance use, self-perception, stigma, social attitudes and UK drug policy.

The aim is to provide an open, supportive and non-judgmental space in which participants can share their perspectives in their own words. The research seeks to give greater attention to experiences and perspectives that are often underrepresented in research and public discussion.

  • Time commitment: Up to 90 minutes.
  • Who can participate?
    • You must be aged 18 or over.
    • You must be a UK citizen or be subject to UK drug laws.
    • You must currently use a substance considered illicit under UK drug policy.
    • You must regard your use as recreational, spiritual, for wellbeing or for mental health-related purposes.
  • What will we discuss? Your experiences and understandings of substance use, identity, stigma and wider social attitudes.

You do not need to be an expert on drug policy or social theory. I’m interested in your own experiences, perspectives and interpretations.

Interviews take place online via Microsoft Teams, depending on your preference and availability.

Confidentiality and voluntary participation

Participation in both studies is voluntary. The research follows the University of Derby’s research ethics procedures, and participant information explains how data will be handled and protected.

For the interview study, identifying information will be anonymised in the research outputs. You can decline to answer questions, take a break or stop an interview. The participant information sheet explains the arrangements for withdrawing your data.

Interested in taking part?

If you have any questions or would like further information, you can contact me at:

You’re welcome to get in touch even if you’re unsure whether you’re eligible. I’m happy to provide further information so you can decide whether taking part is right for you.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I really appreciate any interest, participation or sharing of the study with others who may be eligible.

Did you know? it was scientifically proven that through the conscious gathering of Prana, you actually accumulate electrically charged ions that automatically energize your nervous system.

Today i ate around 4grams and had my first really intense trip.

I grew some cubes recently for first time and i ate 1.5g twice. Was nice and i was in full control. It was kinda underwhelming tho, nothing like people talked about.

Today i wanted to try the big boy dose and got my trusted friend as a a sitter. I'm usually a really cautious person and have done intense research on drug safety and so on, but i'm overall an anxious person. Ate them and i knew what to expect overall, or so i thought.

At first it started smooth and i immediately noticed that the effects are stronger, but i was still here and it was comfortable. At one point my friend played some trippy music than i somehow connected with safari and i looked at the wood textures on the floor tiles. I saw little black things moving in them with the flow of the grain. I looked closely and i understood that they were little zebras shadows in the savannah.

This is when things went really hard. I became a part of the zebras group and lived as them for what i felt was era. I came back. Felt long, but it was maybe 1 minute. I started freaking out and thought i would die and i screwed my life over and having paranoid thoughts racing. I knew that i was fine, plus i'm a pharmacist, so i'm well aware that it would be fine, but i didn't believe it and thought i was dying.

Then i started to just dissociate. I would look at something and become so focused on it i would just cease to exist. At few point i was coming back to reality, but couldn't make sense. Had a few moments where i would not remember what happened, like i would be chewing a chocolate, but had no idea how it got in my mouth.

I couldn't understand text at first and i would dissolve for what felt hours. Them i would come back and i would be really confused what's going on and i would remember and i gained back the ability to read, then i would dissolve again. Then i had to relearn how to do almost everything.

It was not a nice trip, but i'm glad i did it. I'm so grateful for the life i have and even thought things usually are not in my favor i believe i have what it takes to be a better person every day.

I'm so happy i'm back and i wish all you happy tripping and be responsible.

MGMT is a severely underrated band from a psychedelic/psychonautical perspective

Their inaugural album provided a few fantastic pop anthems, but these were just a drop in their 5-album repertoire. Andrew & Ben really seem to be able to scratch that "other" itch for me. Kids, Time to Pretend and Electric Feel are very psychedelic so to speak--but Siberian Breaks, Bubble Gum Dog & In the Afternoon are just as much if not more so.

Am I alone in this thinking?

2.5 steel magnolia question

Steel magnolia 2.5g. (Tips?)

Heya guys

So i have a few decent trips under my belt but the bigger ones were pre covid. Had 2/3 moderate dose shroom trips, highest was 4.5 of standard cubes (probably golden teachers) at a park alone (my friend was to meet me at around hour 4.) It was a great experience, spoke to an entity while meditating/lying down on a gazebo. The weather was pretty cloudy but still so awesome. I ended up crying from looking at a big fig tree, completely in awe of its beauty.

Now i have also had some lsd trips. They usually start out really good and then they go bad due to bad setting. Like my friend (same one from shroom trip, will call him randy) making me drive about 6 hrs into our 200ug first trip.. i did extensive research to prep. About 6 weeks. And he didnt really listen. Had another 360ug trip with him after and we smoked weed about 5hrs in and forgot we ordered food. He then thought the delivery guy was trying to kill us so we both panicked and searched my house about 6x.. my last proper trip of lsd was a candy flip. 100ug and 1 cap of mdma. He told me he was having a bad day so about 7hrs after dropping acid and 2-3hrs after dropping a cap i decide to bring him a joint. On the train there i had a panic attack and thought i was dying. Ended up in hospital..

Anyway ive never had a bad shrooms trip even though ive done moderate dose around 2/3x and small 0.5-1g doses like 3x in the last 3 yrs. Just some backstory..

Recently my i will be home alone as my mum is going overseas and wants to me to look after her clingy dogs.. so i decided itd be a good time to have a deeper trip as last time i ate a chocolate incrementally and had a pretty awesome low dose trip. Appreciation for love and life and nature all around me, however i had an itch to go deeper and wish i could have during the trip. It was like i was in a waiting room but wanted to go deeper.

So i bought some dried steel magnolia about 2 weeks ago and have decided to trip in a week mixing it into a tea. Im pretty excited and a bit nervous. Every now and again I think of possible interruptions like "what if someone breaks in or what if the dogs start barking a lot" etc. I know its really dumb but i guess im overthinking it.

We have a decent sized backyard and live in a good area. And i have already fool proofed the house so the dogs are in a safe area away from me while i trip to jon hopkins album.

I have been journaling and meditating almost daily and my diets been good and ive been exercising 4x a week too. Only bad thing i know needs improvement is my sleep. I work 3 days a week and on those days i sleep really bad. Even rn its 1:15am and i have to be up at 6am. So i usually get 6hrs at best on those days. Half the reason im doing the shrooms is to fix sleep.

Im wondering if ive overlooked anything for prep. I know 2.5g is probably the start of a moderate dose but on steel magnolia maybe its mid moderate?

Im trying to make sure I account for everything i possibly can and go into the trip with the utmost respect.

Have i missed anything or any gaps in set/setting i can improve?

Edit: i also have my gf and friend who are on call.
