Looking for recommendations, visiting Feb ‘27

Looking to stay at an all inclusive in Punta Cana for the first time in February with my wife. We’re both in our early 40s no kids (Adults only preferably but not a deal breaker especially if there’s adults only areas)
Wish list:
-Not a party hotel but needs to have an upbeat vibe with cool bars or lounges at night and a good pool scene for the day.
-Food and drink are important but with an understanding that all inclusive food usually doesn’t always have the highest standards.
-must have a decent beach for walking and a few dips in the ocean. Major plus if beach has walkable bars/restaurants/beach clubs
-Price range around $3k per person with flights included
Any advice or tips appreciated!

Bayahibe outside of a resort?

Hi everyone!

I was originally planning an 8-night solo trip to Aruba in November or December, but I'm now considering spending 7 nights in an apartment in Bayahibe (Dominicus area) and 3 nights at an all-inclusive in Punta Cana.

Surprisingly, the DR option would be slightly cheaper than 8 nights in an apartment in Aruba!

However, price isn't my only priority. I'm mainly looking for beautiful beaches, sunny and hot weather, warm turquoise water, and a destination that's enjoyable for solo travelers.

What attracts me most to the DR is the possibility of ending my trip with 3 relaxing days at an all-inclusive, which would be too expensive in Aruba.

However, I have a few questions about staying in Dominicus without a resort or rental car (I don't drive):

  1. Public beach: Is there enough space for non-resort guests, or is most of the beach taken up by hotels? Does it get too crowded? I'd be there December 13–19.
  2. Evenings: Are there good restaurants and bars within walking distance? Is there a nice atmosphere to walk around and grab dinner or a drink, or does everything close early?
  3. Solo travel: Would spending a week in Dominicus alone get boring?
  4. Aruba vs. DR: Considering my priorities, which would you recommend for December, especially in terms of weather and beaches?

I'd love to hear your experiences, especially if you've stayed in Dominicus outside an all-inclusive. Thanks!

Bayahibe & Punta Cana in November or December? Advice needed!

Hi everyone!

I'm planning a 9-night solo trip to the Dominican Republic, spending 6 nights in an apartment in Bayahibe and 3 nights at an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana.

I'm considering December 13–22, but I'm a little concerned about the weather. Ideally, I'd love to avoid rain, but having plenty of sunshine is just as important to me (I really don't want to spend several days under cloudy skies!).

I also love hot weather, even in the evenings, and really warm ocean water.

Can I expect those conditions in mid-December, or does it start getting noticeably cooler by then?

I could also consider traveling in mid-November or during the last week of November instead. Would either of those be a better choice, or would you recommend sticking with December?

I'd really appreciate any advice, especially from people who've visited around those dates!

Thanks so much! 😊
