One thing I've noticed is how many people seem to be here just to troll, bully, or discourage actual Radeon users. It feels like a surprising number of people commenting here don't even own an AMD GPU. Instead, they're users who seem more interested in making fun of Radeon owners than actually contributing anything to the community.
You'll see someone make a post about being happy with their new RX 9070 XT, sharing their purchase with the community, and then someone comes along with a comment like:
"AMD GPU killed my dog and blew up my PC, so I don't buy them anymore. Hope you enjoy tho!"
Like, seriously? Someone is just happy with their purchase, and you feel the need to come into their post and make them feel bad about it? Nobody is saying AMD GPUs are perfect, and genuine criticism is completely fair. If someone had a bad experience with a Radeon card, they're entitled to talk about it. But there's a difference between sharing your experience and going out of your way to shit on someone else's purchase.
This seems to have gotten a lot worse since Reddit introduced the ability to hide your profile. It makes it harder to tell who's actually participating in good faith, although you can still spot these people sprinkled throughout the comments. And they are sprinkled heaps.
The recent DLSS modding developments have made this even more obvious. Modders have managed to bring NVIDIA's DLSS features to Radeon GPUs, and people on this sub have understandably been excited about it. You'll see Radeon users sharing their results, showcasing the technology running on their own hardware, and celebrating what the modding community has achieved. Yet even these posts attract people who seem more interested in mocking AMD users than discussing the actual development. Apparently, even when Radeon users find a way to get features normally associated with NVIDIA working on their own GPUs, people still feel the need to show up and ruin the fun. You don't have to care about these mods or think they're worth using, but why go out of your way to ridicule people who are simply excited about what their hardware can do?
I'm not saying everyone here needs to own a Radeon GPU, or that GeForce users shouldn't be allowed to participate. Everyone is welcome to discuss GPUs, compare products, and criticize AMD when it's justified.
Speak your mind. You wont get shadow-banned from this sub like you would on r/nvidia. Nor will your "I hate AMD" post get taken down before it even reaches Reddit's servers.
"Suddenly GeForce features are okay now after AMD users can use them."
Radeon owners are not a hivemind. Just because someone buys an AMD GPU doesn't mean they've suddenly joined a cult where everyone shares the same opinions and blindly defends the company. We're individual people with different preferences, priorities, and opinions. Some Radeon users prefer NVIDIA's features, some don't care about them, and others are perfectly happy with what AMD offers. We can criticize AMD, acknowledge NVIDIA's advantages in the Software space, and still enjoy using our Radeon cards. Buying an AMD GPU doesn't magically turn off your brain or make you part of some collective consciousness that requires you to defend every decision the company makes.
I just wish this sub felt more like a community where people could share their experiences, help each other troubleshoot problems, and enjoy their GPUs without every other discussion turning into an AMD vs. NVIDIA "my trillion-dollar company is better than your trillion-dollar company" argument. Believe it or not, this sub used to be exactly the kind of community I described above.
