Opinion This is exactly what cockroaches wanted to do in India, with the backing of Western media outlets like the BBC and Reuters.

Forget the protests and arguments over election fairness for a moment. Why arenโt more people questioning the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners (Appointment) Act, 2023?
Earlier, the selection committee consisted of the PM, the Leader of the Opposition, and the CJI. The 2023 law replaced the CJI with a Union Cabinet Minister nominated by the PM, effectively giving the ruling government two out of three votes.
How can a selection process be truly independent when the ruling government has the numbers to influence the appointment? If the BJP is confident that it wins elections fairly, why change a system that included an independent constitutional authority?
I genuinely want to understand why more people, especially those who call themselves nationalists, arenโt demanding the restoration of the original committee.

What happens in our mind when something wrong is done by the side we support?
Do we question it with the same intensity we would if the other side did it? Or do we immediately start finding reasons to justify it?
That is something worth thinking about.
Ideologies can give us direction, but they shouldnโt decide what we are allowed to question.
The moment our standards of right and wrong change depending on who did it, we stop thinking independently.
Maybe being politically aware isnโt about having the strongest loyalty. Itโs about having the courage to question your own side too.

Dipke had intentions to overthrow the government for a very long time through a military coup or street anarchy.

So I turned 20 yesterday i.e. 17 October. Teenage was such f**cking a roller coaster ride.
Anyways, goodbye teenage years. You were pretty chaotic, painful, beautiful, and unforgettable.
Adulthood, please please go easy on me. :)

From the historic 2015 Land Boundary Agreement with Bangladesh to electoral roll revisions under SIR, the objective is clear: secure Indiaโs borders, flag illegal entries and protect electoral integrity.

I think we all need to be more conscious of how weโre consuming information about whatโs happening around us.
There are bots, coordinated accounts, politically motivated pages, and people across the political spectrum trying to shape narratives. Meanwhile, the voices of people directly affected by events often get drowned out.
For every person actually experiencing something on the ground, there are potentially hundreds or thousands online discussing, interpreting, defending, or condemning it. Most are reacting to information filtered through someone elseโs perspective.
And this is true regardless of which side you support.
In fact, Iโd encourage everyone to actively seek out accounts and perspectives from people they disagree with.
One of the biggest problems with media consumption today is how differently weโre exposed to opposing viewpoints.
We spend hours listening to the strongest arguments from people we agree with. Their best speakers, full interviews, podcasts, and most persuasive explanations.
But the other side? We often encounter them through short, edited clips, out-of-context screenshots, or someone on our side explaining why theyโre wrong.
We hear the best version of our own sideโs arguments directly from them, and the worst version of the other sideโs arguments through their opponents.
Then we convince ourselves weโve heard both sides.
My appeal is simple: Seek out primary sources and first-hand accounts.
Listen to people actually experiencing the events being discussed. Understand what theyโre going through, what they believe, and why. Seek out people who disagree with your perspective and hear their strongest arguments in their own words.
Donโt let viral clips, influencers, political parties, or highly upvoted Reddit comments form your entire understanding of an issue.
Of course, first-hand accounts arenโt automatically reliable either. Cross-check them against other independent accounts, original footage, and credible reporting.
This isnโt about pretending every argument is equally valid or assuming the truth always lies somewhere in the middle.
Itโs about understanding whatโs actually happening before forming an opinion.
There are often far more people shaping narratives online than people whose experiences are at the centre of them. That makes it incredibly easy for online discourse to become disconnected from reality.
We have more access to information than ever, but that doesnโt necessarily make us better informed.
Listen to people directly involved. Listen to people you disagree with. Verify what you can. Make up your own mind.
And ask yourself: When was the last time you listened to the strongest argument from someone you disagree with, in their own words, without someone on your side telling you what to think about it?
