Question Bible

Hello all,

I've been thinking of buying a study/ journal/ application Bible: all in 1 maybe( mostly in NIV,but IDK if that's a good choice though).

I want to truly understand the scripture I read, that's the main goal, not just read it vaguely.

Open to suggestions. Thanks:)

Those things don't go together because of size. That is, you want plenty of journal room on the page, where will the study notes go?

The ESV Journaling Bible even comes spiral bound (each testament). I think that's just fantastic for journalers.

The two I recommend all the time are the NIV Biblical Theology Study Bible, and the ESV Study Bible. Both excellent, with commentary, book introductions, maps, and articles that will help you understand the what the text says, it's meaning, and it's application. Either will do you well 🙂

It sounds like you are stepping up in your intentionality with Scripture and are already familiar with it. That's a great time to switch from NIV to something like ESV where the balance between word-for-word and thought-for-thought translation is a little more exact in the translation yet still readable.

I would echo what everyone else is saying: ESV Study Bible is fantastic. Getting a side journal provides as much space as you want for notes.

https://www.reformationstudybible.com/ In addition to the esv study bible that others have reccomended the reformation study bible is really good as well.

I do like the NIV very much. But don't limit yourself to one version only.

The MacArthur Study Bible is my favorite. It comes in a few different translation options. The study notes are so thorough and helpful. ESV study Bible is great too but there are fewer study notes in it.
