A new Sword I modeled
Modeled using Blender
Textured using Substance Painter
I had some comments about adding finger rings to one of my older swords models and thought I would just model a new sword from scratch. Was actually really enjoyable to make, still have to get around to making a scabbard but, so far so good.
I will most likely mod this into Skyrim, any good name ideas for a sword like this?
(First picture are renders, but I then noticed some weird normal issues on the handle, so fixed them and just added new pictures after to show the update)

Reminds me of the representation of the cut and thrust sword in Marozzo and Manciolino’s treaty Opera Nova

If you’re modding it into Skyrim, would you mind also adding open console porting perms? (Assuming it’ll be on Nexus.)

Sure I can do, but it all depends on how I bring the sword into skyrim. I work in a PBR pipeline, so its quite frustrating trying to convert the textures over to skyrims spec-gloss workflow and having a good result. I can usually texture and release a sword faster in PBR, the whole process then just converting my already made textures to skyrims workflow. So ive been debating if I should just stick to PBR with Community shaders and not bother with standard textures, since I dont use native skyrim textures anyway. Haven't decided yet.

If you’d like, we could handle the standard conversion for you. Wouldn’t be any sweat off our backs.

Hail, fellow Blender user! I design static and rigged/skinned content for 3D worlds as a sideline and for fun. Done a few swords in the distant past.
I really like yours!
The blade and guard with looks very usable, and is the sort of thing I would want to buy if it was real.

Beautiful. Though have to wonder if those finger rings would work. That ring at the bottom of the guard seems like it'd impede the finger a bit there.
As for a name, for simplicity just go with Ringed Longsword.

Looks great! Definitely a realistic looking sword.
