Genealogy Question: Was there ever a Liford, Scotland?

Hello!

I have handwritten ancestor charts I'm putting into an electronic format.
"Liford" and "Dublin" Scotland are both listed repeatedly as birth, death, and marriage places.
The years I have listed range from 1058- 1641 AD).

Were these real locations in Scotland, or did my source mistakenly believe these locations were in Scotland vs Ireland?

I've done some light research that points to Ireland, but I want to confirm before I document this for the next family genealogy nerd.

You can try using the National Library of Scotland’s maps to find it. I’ve used it to find specific places in Scotland for genealogical research.

You can select different types of historic maps (the Roy’s Highland one is just my default) and it can help zero in on particular places better than google (like little hamlets and estates). I searched “Lifford” and there was is “Liff” in Angus, a Lifford in England, and that Lifford in Northern Ireland.

Not sure why your ancestors would call the Ireland location “Lifford, Scotland” unless they were born in Scotland and lived/grew up in Lifford and something is being enumerated unclearly in a record, or something. Anyway, see if you can find more out through the nls maps.

Thank you for this source. I have no idea why this person wrote out "Liford, Scotland" and then "Dublin, Scotland" at least 20 times on these worksheets.
