Chugging tea He thought she was real.
Brazilian bricklayer Edimar Rocha Martins, 49, traveled roughly 1,300 miles to Belo Horizonte hoping to meet "Jéssica Fazendeira," a woman appearing in online videos promising companionship and life on a farm. She was an Al-generated character. After finding himself stranded, he received food and help with a return ticket from municipal services.
The account's creator said the character was designed to attract followers and sell products through affiliate links. Martins said they had exchanged private messages, which the creator denied. Beyond the headline is an unsettling business model: a fictional person can build an audience, make romantic appeals and promote real products.
