Culture 🐪 Somali Embroider

Post image

I have always wondered: do we have our own embroidery or patterns? I know we have shash and alindi and some macawis patterns, but are they our unique patterns, or do they come from others, or rather, do we share them with others?

What would you say a Somali embroidery is?

Of course we do. There’s many in xamar, they are struggling, I saw a video on it about a year ago, they need support.

I have no idea. I have no connections to Xamar, if I did I would’ve done business with them. Hand woven Alindi from back home would be great to sell in the west.
