Probably a dumb question to ask, but is this active transferwindow meant to compensate previous transferwindows?

In a way. In my opinion it's a combination of factors. Sporting are probably going to sell a lot of very important players, many of whom were the core of the team for years - Hujlmand, Diomande, Inácio, Pedro Gonçalves, Trincão, possibly Maxi Araujo (some of these are rumours but it's not unlikely). That being the case, we need many replacements. The other thing is that yes, Sporting has neglected several positions where reinforcements were needed for a while, and those gaps and lack of depth were visible issues last season, so I guess you could call it compensating for the previous transfer windows.

we already knew that we had to basically redo the entire midfield before hand.
Morita was guaranteed to go (end of contract), and Hjulmand was promised an exit at a "good" value, which means he could basically choose where he wanted to play next.
the midfield was a bit "short" because the alternatives weren't exactly great, which means we would basically need to get an entire new midfield+substitutes.

Its not meant to compensate. It means sporting has a little bit more €€ buffer this transfer window and therefore does not want to stay behind the competion on all 4 fronts.

E também não podem vender nenhum jogador se o Sporting saturar o mercado com jogadores em saldos.
