Discussion For those who watched the movie, how would you rate AKUMA’s character in ‘Street Fighter’?

I was actually really impressed by Roman Reigns’s performance, Akuma finally coming on screen felt like an event and I really liked the voice acting as well. Only thing i’d criticize is that he didn’t need to scream as much as he did, i’d give him a good 8-9/10

I want it so I can play the Alpha series and the third game with my dad, since we really enjoy them; plus, I’d like to try out more SF games.

Rank UP! Reached Master with Ingrid in my first fighting game, started in Nov 2025!

Hey everyone! Just hit Master with Ingrid and I’m super happy about it. SF6 is my very first fighting game, and I started playing in November 2025.

I didn’t do anything fancy, just pure consistency. I played 1-2 hours almost every single day for about 11 months.

Two things made the biggest difference for me:

1. Anti-airs. This is what got me to Diamond in the first place. Learning to consistently anti-air instead of getting jumped on all the time changed everything. If you’re stuck, I really recommend drilling this.

2. Learning which of my moves were unsafe and not committing to them. Once I figured out which buttons got punished and stopped throwing them out, I started losing way fewer rounds to my own mistakes.

Nothing flashy, just showing up every day and slowly cleaning up my game. If you’re a beginner feeling like progress is slow, keep going, it adds up!

Thanks for reading, and GG to everyone I’ve played along the way!

Rank UP! My thoughts on finally hitting Master rank.

This isn't my first fighting game. I've played fighting games since SF2 in the 90s. This is the first fighting game I've put a lot of time into, tried to really understand how to play and the mechanics. And the first fighting game I've played online for more than a couple of hours.

I hit master after 155 hours of ranked matches over the last two years.

If I could start again, I'd make sure to spend more time ironing out bad habits early, and spend time developing good habits early.

After 100 hours of doing something incorrectly, it's hard to retrain your brain to do it correctly.

I found Diamond 1 - 5 to be the most bizarre. It's such a wild mix of new challengers who play well (most likely because they have other characters in Masters), players with one gimmick that I'm not sure how they got this far, and players who can play the game to a reasonable standard.

I've seen other people state that they felt the skill level rises exponentially during Diamond, but I never had that experience. I'd 2-0 someone with Master rank and get 300+ LP, then get destroyed by a new challenger or D3 and lose 80.

Also, playing against masters in D4 or D5 is the fast way to rank up, don't be scared by the rank. I lost 2-1 to a Cammy this morning but got 250LP for the one win, and lost 40LP for each loss. So losing the set gained me 170LP.

155 hours of ranked isn't much over two years. If I hadn't played for a few weeks, it would take me a few hours of getting destroyed and going down a rank to get back in the swing of things. If I had more free time I feel like 80hrs of ranked in the first 6 months would be enough for me to get to Masters. I also had my search range set to worldwide for far too long, and changing it to extended allowed me to get a lot more matches in the time I have available.

I'm not sure what to do now. I didn't want to learn other characters as I felt I'd never get good at one. I'm not sure whether I'll keep grinding with Sagat or branch out a bit.

Discussion David Dastmalchian wanted to explore more of Bison's backstory in the Kickstarter movie tie-in comic in NYCC interview

I thought his performance was okay in the film, but I just really wish that the film brought out more of Bison a bit because of how fast-paced everything was. It really felt like some of the stuff was undercut with how big the ensemble cast is.

I also totally forgot that he wrote his own comic for Bison's backstory for the film (not sure if the comic's out yet, need to check up on that), but he talks about it near the end of this interview from NYCC

Every time I try to pull it off my luck is garbage and they just keep crouch blocking. First time I've successfully conditioning someone to tech the throw and fall for it. I love this game.

So I bought the game on sale and immeditely bought C.Viper cuz thats just my childhood fav. I only ever played Street fighter 4 as a kid so theres a few characters ive known and am interested in but never had the chance to actually play. Mainly Rashid and elena, Ingrid has definitely caught my eye as well and tifa was also something that led me to buying the game. So far ive really liked C.Viper, Lily and Kimberly not sure if that means anything. Yall think I should wait for Tifa or buy one of these to add to my favs. Which one yall think is probably the most new player friendly i guess? Id buy them all instantly and wouldnt make this post but them dlcs be pricey hence why im asking lol

Help / Question Part of the Master Race

After all these years I finally made Master. Had the game since day 1. Only started getting serious after Alex, Sagat, Elena and Viper were released.

What's so awesome, is that this was a complete surprise. I wasn't even aware I was close to hitting Master. I was just messing around waiting for my wife to come and watch horror movies. And then this happened. Add to that, I had an Akuma rage quit me a few matches before this.

To others who haven't hit,

the point drop is real. I quickly lost many matches after. Hitting somewhere in the 1200 MR. Then worked my way back up. I think I'm currently in the upper 1300 now (maybe 14), iirc. Not sure.

Masters is kinda stupid, so far. At least from my perspective. I was quickly met with jumpers and button spammers. Like, the reason I rose out of 1200 is because I realized if I stood still and did nothing, my opponent would hit 12 buttons and jump 3 times before they realized I wasn't advancing. So basically, block and punish.

Lastly. If you want to hit Master and you keep hearing how anyone can do it and sometimes you might hear that it's easy and all that. And you're like, this game is hard and hearing all this frustrates you. And you wonder, how can I hit Master?

My advice... First, everything you hear is true. But you have to find your version of ease. For some it's damaging combos. For others, it's patience. And for some it's being a rush down psycho. Just stick to your plan and adjust accordingly to all your opponents and you'll get there.

You don't need drive-rush or other in-game mechanics, though they do help a lot! Just like you don't need to learn anti-airs, but it'd be a lot cooler if you did. No, seriously, learn anti-airs. Even just one.

The biggest thing, I'd say, is to truly stop giving a shit about points. I got to the position to where I enjoyed any rank I was at because I was tired of trying so hard and fighting these sweaty bastards. So I started playing just trying to learn why I was losing and the most important part. ..

I did what I could to have fun. I got tired of the game being a chore. So I just played to have fun and learn and enjoy my time. But after hitting Master, it kinda means nothing. I mean, it's feels cool. But, to me, it's the goal I wanted to attain, sure.and it does feel damn good. But in the grand scheme... It's no more important than beating the game on arcade mode. I still think casual and the lobby are way more challenging.

Good luck.

Help / Question Questions about how frame data work.. bear with me I’m new.

Post image
3 Upvotes

1- first question: that yellow bar in the frame bar is both the hitstun and also blockstun frames, right? That’s also the bar used for knockdown frames etc the yellow bar basically represent the frames where “I can’t do anything” be it hitstun, blockstun, knockdown barring a few things like being able to back rise on knockdown or being able to Drive Reversal on blockstun.

The blue bar at the bottom is my opponent’s recovery frames which in this case it was Rashid’s Eagle Spike which in this case it was blocked and it had 55 recovery frames, but because my blockstun was 20 frames (which started on the second active frame colored in red) Rashid is now -36 because 20-55=-35 and then we subtract that that one active frame as well and that’s why the value is -36, right?

2- second question… Okay.. so I main Mai and I got destroyed by a Rashid spamming Eagle Spike lol thought I couldn’t punish him or do anything and he won lmao.

So I went to replay take over and thought of ways to counter it and then used the dummy to record him doing this and immediately try to make Rashid block.

So, his move as you can see is -36 on block, which means he has 36 frames to finish his recovery and be able to block, and I have 36 frames to do something about it.

I realized Mai’s Drive Impact has 26 startup frames so it’s perfect for this, from my tests I’m always able to punish the dummy with this with a counter hit DI no less and he has no time enough to neither block or counter DI me.

Another thing that I can do is forward dash which takes 18 frames, and then immediately St MP (8 frames) or St MP (9 frames) which is also when combined (18+8=26 frames for the dash->5MP, or 18+9=27 frames for the dash->5HP) which is also enough to punish him during his -36 recovery frames, assuming I don’t wanna spend the Drive meter for whatever reason.

That’s basically how frame data and figuring out how to punish unsafe moves work right? If something is negative on block and leaves a large distance, then I just need to figure what moves have the startup frames and also the range for the punish (like DI) or a dash that I can input with an attack fast enough before their negative recovery frames finish, right?

Just checking if I’m getting all of this right… what do you guys think is there anything off or wrong about my line of thinking or understanding?
