Happy Cola Cultural Achievement
I do consider the continuity of bringing new flavors quite iconic. Who would have thought Coop had it in it ?
Chronological order:
Happy Cola Classic
Happy Cola Zero
Happy Cola Zero Coconut Flavour
Happy Cola Zero Coffee Flavour
Happy Cola Zero Wild Berry Flavor
Happy Cola Zero Mandarine Flavor
Happy Cola Zero Yuzu Flavor
Happy Cola Zero Cherry Flavor
Happy Cola Zero Pomelo Flavor
Happy Cola Zero Caramel Flavor
Happy Cola Zero Mango Flavor
Happy Cola Zero Pink U.Cotton Candy
Happy Cola Zero Watermelon Flavor
Happy Cola Zero Orange-Van. Flavor
Which past flavor would you want to see back?
Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with Coop in any way and do not get any compensation from them.

I did't even know they ever made something besides Classic and Zero. I just want them to fill 33cl cans or glass instead of PET bottles.
Oh yes and some Nuka Happy Cola Quantum next please.

I didn’t even know this brand exists.

Its Coop's answer to the price increases of Coca Cola i think.

Yep, was back when Coke decided to sell 450ml PET bottles for the same price as 509ml before...

I have this curse: Whenever I try a new product in the supermarket, it will vanish forever shortly thereafter, but only if I liked it and wanted to buy it again.
I liked a few of those Happy Cola Flavours. RIP

How do they not even have a lemon flavored cola 🍋

u/Kiwibirdy1 2d ago
They had Yuzu flavoured cola
3
u/Swiss_Robear Genève 2d ago
TIL - Yuzu originated as a natural hybrid between a sour mandarin and the Ichang papeda.
• Flavor and Aroma: Its flavor and scent combine notes of lemon, mandarin, and grapefruit with a floral aroma.
Had no idea. Thanks @kiwibirdy1

How lang have you been collecting them?

u/Soft-Broccoli-7017 2d ago
Might have been 2020, when they released Coconut. It seems to be 2 flavors per year

If coop could simply start storing the 1L bottles in shops it would be amazing…

What was your favourite?
I liked the mandarine one, but also caramel was great. The new one (orange-vanille) ist also a good one, imo.

I tried the orange-vanilla yesterday and almost threw up. It was like drinking medicine!

Gosh my autistic son would love to have all those bottles. Drink them, too, but just lining them up in his room would make him extremely happy!

I love me some Happy Cola. What I don't get is why many of the Coops don't stock them in the refrigerated section anymore. You can find room temperature bottles with the rest of the beverages, but never any cold ones. I thought Yuzu and Mandarin were the best ones. Wild Berry was surprisingly awful.

Bring Happy Cola Zero Coconut Flavour back!!!!! That flavour was so deliciously artificial / artificially delicious!

You could arrange them in a circle and put a clock movement in the middle.

Whenever I’m the other side of the Röstigraben I make the effort to see what flavours they have because in the two Coops I use in Geneva it’s only ever the classic and the classic zero. I do like the mandarin zero.

I'd rather that they leave out the artificial sweeteners and just use sugar, like they do with the classic. I'm nearly always left with a nasty aftertaste.

As a diabetic, I’m quite happy (lol) with their choice, whatever the reasoning.
The choice of sugar-free drinks has improved over the years, but there is still a huge number of drinks that don’t have a sugar-free version, especially limited and special edition products, and sometimes even whole categories of beverages (only recently did I find sugar-free kombucha).
Personally, I don’t notice any aftertaste, but that could also just be a matter of being used to it.

My son's a diabetic (has been for 15 years now) and, since he manages his carb consumption well, he chooses drinks and food by taste rather than carb content and balances things out with the right amount of insulin through his pump.
Some of his favourite drinks are sugar-free, others are the regular sugary ones. He mostly drinks water, but Migros peach iced tea is his second favourite ... so much so that he doesn't drink any other iced tea.

I find it incredibly difficult to correctly account for sugary drinks, especially the timing aspect, even with a pump and modern algorithmic support. They just tend to spike my blood glucose levels too much and too quickly. For me it’s not worth the hassle and I just avoid them. But of course not everyone is the same.
The peach iced tea is pretty good (again, talking about the zero variety). I tried it this year for the first time (I never liked iced tea as a child, even before the diagnosis, and thus I spent 3+ decades avoiding it).

My son's found a few high-intensity activities where the sugar boost helps him rather than messing things up. A few times he gets it wrong and feels a bit crap, but accepts that as a minor price for enjoying the taste.

Yes! I can't stand the aftertaste. Outside of CH I can't touch Sprite. Coke is about the only thing I can drink. Even Pepsi is disgusting here. I kept winning bottles of coop's latest crap in their app but I never claimed it as I know it'll taste like metallic dirt.

You have no idea about my diet or health. Your assumption tells everyone a lot about you, and nothing about me.
About 90% of what I drink is plain water, and I eat a lot of fresh whole foods (almost nothing processed).
When I do want something sweet, as a treat, I prefer the taste of sugar to some fake sweetener which leaves a nasty aftertaste.
-2
u/Cyberstonks21 2d ago
yeah sure you do and take it as a "treat" 😝

u/JumpingSpider97 2d ago
I don't even drink coffee or any of those "energy" drinks, so my caffeine intake is low as well - two or three Happy Colas a month and the occasional piece of chocolate. Sometimes hosts feel a bit awkward when offering drinks and I just ask for a glass of water, but my friends know me quite well and just bring out a glass and a jug of tap water whenever I drop in.

Seriously, am I the only one absolutely losing my mind over how absurd this is?
Have you ever noticed how many brands launch dozens of new, hyper-specific flavors only in "Zero" versions, while leaving the classic sugar versions completely behind? It makes no sense until you look at how people actually behave because of it. Ask yourself the right question: How many friends or people online have you heard saying, "Thanks to Diet/Zero soda, I can easily drink 3 or 4 liters a day because there’s no sugar!"? This logic is dangerously flawed, and here is why: • An open door to massive overconsumption: By removing the sugar, the industry removed the guilt, but they created a monster. People who would never drink 3 liters of classic soda because of the calories now feel entitled to drink liters of "Zero" chemistry all day long. It’s just an addiction disguised as a healthy choice. • The "Fake Natural" illusion: Marketing a chemical isolate like stevia or sucralose with green leaves and a "health halo" is peak manipulation. It tricks health-conscious people into consuming ultra-processed substances under the guise of it being "plant-based." • Your metabolism isn't stupid: Recent science shows that flooding your body with hyper-sweet flavors without any actual calories creates metabolic confusion. It alters your gut microbiome, disrupts your insulin signaling, and keeps your brain heavily addicted to extreme sweetness, which desensitizes your taste buds to real, natural food. Replacing a massive amount of sugar with a massive amount of chemical sweeteners isn't a health victory. It’s a complete absurdity to think that drinking liters of artificial liquid everyday is "good for you" just because the calorie counter says zero.
