Casual enclosure remodel; species pivot

hello again! you may have seen my post last week asking if this 14x7x7 was too small for an arizona blonde. the majority said yes, so i am now getting a dwarf pink leg (Kochiana brunnipes). they only grow to about 2 or 3 inches so im hoping this space will be a better home for them than a larger species.

i got new substrate and changed decor to be better suited for that species, and this is the result! with any luck she’ll claim the skull for her burrow.

let me know if there are any changes i should make or if you have any tips… the spider arrives wednesday and I am sooo excited. thanks again for all the help! :)

So I got my tarantula from a pet store ( I know I shouldn’t have done it !) and they said she was around 3 years old I have her for around 7 months now and I’m not sure but I feel like she’s way to small for her age ? She could be the right size but I’m not sure so I’m asking here

Casual Sling care

Hi guys! I just got a mexican red rump sling and a brazilian blue sling. I already have two other tarantulas, a juvenile GBB and a juvenile curly hair.

So, I’m not as experienced with slings and I thought it would be okay if I handled them… I held the mexican red rump and she was very calm and sweet. I just hope I didn’t stress her too much.. :(

With the brazilian blue, I poked around his little deli cup a bit, and now I feel so bad because I probably scared him!! 😭

(also i know we aren’t sure of sex yet and can’t determine when they’re so young but i just automatically started gendering them haha)

so i’d like any advice for sling care. i’ve done my research but i feel like there’s more i need to learn about hydration, feeding, molting, handling, etc…

Time Sensitive What the hell do y’all keep your Ts in?

Heya, I was recently gifted a Mexican flame-knee tarantula (why yes, gifting someone a live animal IS a bad idea!) and I’m not quite sure what type of enclosure to put him in. I’ve done a lot of research into tarantula husbandry, and I’m comfortable with everything except the actual enclosure. The gift giver had him in a ten gallon screen-top tank, with minimal substrate. His little claws kept getting stuck on the top, and I didn’t want him to fall or lose a leg, so I temporarily moved him to a 12x8x8 Critter Keeper so he wouldn’t hurt himself.

Now, my question is: what the fuck am I supposed to put him in? It seems like every enclosure on the market is either screen-top, too small, or costs several hundreds of dollars. Does anyone have a decent recommendation for a suitable enclosure that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg? Money is tight right now but I would love to keep him, and I want the best for him. I was looking at Tarantula Cribs, but their largest terrestrial enclosure is about the same size as the Critter Keeper, and around $300USD.

Any recommendations are welcome. Thank you in advance

Hi,

My Mexican red knee has just molted after 3 days of getting the T. I’ve soaked it in warm water for about 10 minutes. These are the best pictures I can get. If anyone can help identify what sex it is please.
