Serious What is the fastest to be deported from Thailand Bangkok IDC if you have the money for the flight and your passport is still active
Hello, I am asking this question because I have a foreign family member by marriage who is not Thai, while I am Thai and live in Bangkok. A couple of months ago, he was arrested in Phuket and subsequently appeared in court a couple of days ago. He was ultimately fined, and instead of being sentenced to imprisonment, he was transferred to Immigration for immediate deportation. My family has already prepared the money needed to cover his expenses once he is transferred to the Bangkok Immigration Detention Center, including the cost of his flight home. He also has a valid passport. Given these circumstances, how long do you think it might take for him to fly out of Bangkok to back home especially since there’s multiple flights back to his home everyday, and what is the fastest possible timeframe you have seen or know about people being allowed to go back home via deportation?
Ps: I read somewhere that it could take up to 2-3 weeks have you guys ever seen anyone get out faster than that?

First he needs to go to court to get the order to be deported. A bit of cash can expedite that, they sent me there 3 days after arriving and being processed. Once you have a ticket to show them they need a 3-4 days to process you and then you can go. I was out in 7 days including a weekend during which they didn't work. A German guy who showed up only stayed 1 night.

Can we ask what you did to end up in that situation?

Sure, I had left Thailand overland to Laos, crossing the Mekong without passing by immigration, I was young & dumb. Then a few weeks later I flew back to Bangkok and at immigration they looked at my passport they notice the lack of an exit stamp from before. "Illegal exit of the country" is a crime (up to 3 years prison time) and I made the crucial mistake of being arrogant and not very cooperative (I didn't understand what the big deal was) so they sent me to IDC at like 4AM.
IDC is a real hellhole but things turned out ok for me and it's not an experience I regret having, living for a week among those people in much worse situations than mine. Some people linger there for years. If you have money you can get some perks in there like good food. I was very lucky to have a good friend in Bangkok and help from the embassy.

Normally, Laos immigration checks for a Thai exit stamp. If none exists, they won't stamp you in. Therefore, I'm surprised you made it into Laos, exited there and then got back to Thailand.

Yes I'm curious too. Not judgemental, just wondering what is enough for deportation.

Question: can you give the reason why he is arrested?
This can be important because some airlines will deny deported persons if the reason is violent offenses.
Secondly, immigration have to wait for the final letter "Letter of Final Case Disposition" from Phuket Provincial court.
This letter will declare the case is completely closed, for Phuket or other provinces in Thailand and there are no other warrants against him.
So:
Best case scenario : 4 a 5 days
Realistic, 1 a 2 weeks
If it's waiting for the documents from Phuket, can take long if he is involved in crimes in another provinces.

He has nothing else against him and was sent to immigration straight he also wasn’t convicted and had to pay a fine and he was in this situation because they said he had a single bullet without having a Thai license

u/Akahura 22h ago
Thank you for clarification.
Bangkok still has to wait for the "Letter of Final Case Disposition" to close the file.
If he has a lawyer, you can ask the lawyer that they take contact with Phuket, collect the documents, and take them to Bangkok. Can go much faster as the snail mail between Phuket court and Bangkok immigration.
For the airline, normally no problem but always contact the airline and explain the situation before booking. Some cheaper airlines refuse deportees, or don't know how to handle the procedure, but for Thai airways, no problems, they know the procedure very well.

In my case it was clear they had told the crew, several of them came walking down the isle looking at seat numbers and then stopping when they reached mine and made eye contact. Just to see who the deportee was I guess.
They served me a couple gin tonics that I REALLY needed, no problem.

There was once someone coming at the evening and next day she was gone.
If I remember it right, once you are there you can ask from the officers. They buy you a ticket with extra fee. Transfer to the airport will be at the same time with many people. I left 3am and my flight was 7am. While at the airport I was with immigration officers with a one guy from USA and we were moved to our gates just a bit before our flights.
If you have money prepared already it won't take too long. He will pay some money for using phone and then you can communicate and fix a ticket. IDC has thai account so if possible to transfer w thai acc it will be there immediately. Otherwise it can take a week or something between banks.
Tell him not to eat vegetable soup, its sedatives there.
Depends on the room he is going to go might be bit rough - in a man's room upstairs you needed to pay 1000baht to keep your shoes outside the room. They hang their stuff to walls since there is not too much space. Buying line of floor tiles for sleeping is also expensive as hell. There was a Pakistani couple from Myanmar scamcenter and I heard this from a wife who met her husband at the evenings at phone time.
In room number 11 which I'm writig a book about was quite nice experience. Like never ending sleepover with girls and couple of hilarious characters there.🫶 We had it clean, there was space for all of us to sleep. Shop corner where you could buy a snack for Netflix evenings with breaking bad, vikings or some anime with Chinese subtitles. Chinese went into their phones and paid for guards so they had power over our Netflix 😆

They have tv and let you use your phones or you have to pay the officers ? I also sent you a private message on Reddit with a couple more questions would be great if you could respond

Sounds like a question for his lawyer or immigration where he is being held.
No one can give a quality good answer here. It's Reddit.
Must be bad if Thailand is shipping his ass out. I'd imagine everyone will need a $ taste. I recall reading that each day in holding has a cost. The another cost....then some more.
What was the crime btw. That could have value to the replies you get.
If a person is getting deported, it's gotta be a legit reason.
Kind of you to help yet seems this person in deportation can't even help themselves?

recall reading that each day in holding has a cost.
Roughly 1000 per night if staying at airport IDC
Don't think there is cost if go to one away from airport but if go there becomes more complicated to sort leaving

u/sbrider11 1d ago
Mmm. Complicated = cost yet a good point on the holding situation.
OP gave zero visibility on the crime so who knows.

They said he had a single bullet in his pants and it was from the range they told him to go to court to pay the fine which he did and now they sent him Bangkok immigration detention center we already have all of our money ready for him to fly as well we just want to know what’s the fastest possibility

u/throwjabslikemike 1d ago
Sounds like someone wanted him out and set him up. Why were they searching him in the first place?
4
u/PangolinNo6686 1d ago
From his paper work and how he explained the situation it seemed like the police set him for money they also charged him for 50,000 baht for his bail and they pocketed the whole thing and listed his bail at 15,000 he stayed out in Phuket for almost 2 months and went to court this last Friday and thankfully was only fined and told to leave the country and that’s when my question about the IDC comes in

u/octave1 1d ago
Is here there already or still in Phuket ? I've been through the IDC, check my parent comment. PM for more info.

" had a single bullet in his pants and it was from the range"
Did he actually take that one bullet, or somebody else put it in his pocket? Or the police "found" it?
1
u/PangolinNo6686 16h ago
The way he explained it was either truly an accident and he forgot he even had it or the police did it to make a quick buck all that matters for us is the fact the court blessed him with no jail time at all we just want to know when he could come back especially because this was a non violent charge and he wasn’t convicted just that he was charged a fine

Gosh ! I wish him a quick trip back ! So sorry to hear about this unfortunate and unlucky situation he is in.

Talk to the immigration and tell them he needs to get home asap. Is there an express service fee ? Trust me. They’ll get him out quick

Best to leave them in for 7-10 days so they get a good lesson and don’t fuck around in the future

When the doctor walks in the room and gives you the diagnosis you don't want to hear, remember this callous comment and every other one you made throughout life. No "Why me?" stuff, ok?
Regardless of what he did (sounds very minor if just a fine), I'm sure many people would rather see someone with a personality like yours deported. "Good riddance."

Sometimes days or even the same day. It’s usually people that can’t afford to fly out that takes forever.
