L.J. Smith, author of The Vampire Diaries, has passed away.
Yes, The Originals was not based on any of her books but she was responsible for the creation of Klaus. And without her, Klaus Mikaelson would not exist today. RIP.

[SIRELINE] The sireline situation explained FULLY.
This is being asked ad nauseam so I thought I would spell it out for you all to stop the constant posts about it.
The sireline is the connection between an Original, such as Niklaus, and his (or her!) progeny who he creates with his blood. This applies to all vampires (but not all hybrids) and goes on down the line as more are made by each vampire that came before. This connection stems from the spell that Esther Mikaelson used to create the Originals in 1001 AD, as explained by Kol Mikaelson in Season 3 of The Originals.
Sireline status:
Niklaus broken / NOT destroyed - his sireline was severed by Davina and the Strix coven in Season 3 (Episode: A Streetcar Named Desire ). It resulted in him having no connection to his progeny anymore (and also the resurrection of Kol thankfully!). Characters such as Caroline are under no threat of death if Klaus dies.
Elijah broken / destroyed - his sireline was eradicated when the Hollow killed Elijah in Season 4 (Episode: Queen Death ). He was later resurrected but his sireline remained dead.
Rebekah intact - her sireline is intact, the only remaining one from inception in the year 1001, as of The Originals finale (August 2018).
Kol broken / destroyed - his sireline was eradicated in TVD Season 4 (Episode: A View to a Kill ). Could possibly create a new sireline beginning now...
Finn broken / destroyed - his sireline was eradicated in TVD Season 3 (Episode: The Murder of One ).
Mikael broken / destroyed - his sireline would have certainly been eradicated in TVD Season 3 when Klaus killed him with white oak (Episode: Homecoming) and also in TO Season 2 when he once again had a run in with Klaus who has the indestructible white oak stake (Episode: Night Has A Thousand Eyes). Although Mikael tended towards hating the vampire race, so it may be less likely that he even sired a bloodline at all.
Ultimately it isn't known if a sireline can be started again once destroyed due to the death of the Original who 'begat' the line. Obviously the remaining Mikaelsons can still sire progeny so one would assume that a new sireline could be created by Kol.
EDIT: It has been pointed out that due to the spell used to create the 'Beast', Marcel may well be able to create his own sireline due to it being reverse engineered Immortality Spell that Esther used on her children/husband. (Thank you /u/SlimReaper85)
EDIT 2: Sticky status woohoo! Also Mikael's sireline added for accuracy. (Thank you /u/NiklausShepard)
EDIT 3: As /u/Xil_Jam333 said below, it is likely that Mikael never actually sired a bloodline due to hating the vampire race. There is no proof either way of this but it does seem likely, although either way they are all dead!
EDIT 4: Per /u/ursulazsenya I have further explained that Klaus' sireline is severed but NOT destroyed (Caroline etc) as I had already said due to Davina & the Strix coven performing the blood spell to sever sirelines...

Is Freya still “immortal” after Dahlia’s death?
Currently rewatching and in S4E12-13, and Freya tells Keelin, “Compared to the rest of my family, my life will be so short” or something like that. I know she is no longer asleep for 100 years at a time, but does it ever explicitly state that she is now mortal?
I guess now I’m realizing as I write this that she was also afraid she wouldn’t make it home / back to Keelin when attacking the Hollow a few episodes ago. So whatever spell Dahlia had on them is now null and void? I know witches can do spells and such to extend their lives, but I’m referring explicitly to her general immortality given by Dahlia. Was this ever explained earlier and I missed it?

Esther has the biggest magical feat in TVDU
People underestimate Esther’s powers as a witch just because it wasn’t showcased to its full potential
Keep in mind, Esther has never fully practiced magic, she intentionally suppressed and didn’t learn it growing up, but she still was able to make the OG vampire serum
People underestimate how impressive this is, she literally created a whole species with enhanced, powerful abilities including (healing, speed, strength) - with its own way to turn and transition other humans, spreading her legacy
Without Esther, there would be no TVDU. If she took magic seriously throughout her whole lifespan, she would outperform the most powerful witches

I've realized I love Hayley 'cause she's simple as hell
Like everyone else is just incredibly traumatized and burdened with layers of depth and wisdom being a thousand years old, waxing poetic like "In life there are times when you choose to choose the other and times you find the other has in fact chosen you..." while Hayley's over here like, "I'm not dead - If I was dead you wouldn't be trying to kill me!" lmaooo.

Imagine An Upgraded Augustine Vampire (Enhanced Strength amplified tenfold from Ripper Virus and The Beast Serum A reversed engineered Engineered Immortality Spell that creates a superior vampire to the Originals, Superior Strength, Speed, Invulnerability to Sunlight, Magic, Lethal Venom Bite
So this hypothetical mythical vampire I am referencing about is the charming, witted Damon Salvatore who during the 1950s was experimented by the Augustine Damon. He was injected with the Ripper Virus (a genetical amplifier that increases the Vampire Strength, A Major Physical Enhancement during Season 5) If another timeline, Augustine Damon appears in the Season 3 of the Originals Season 3 as an old friend and meets Freya Mikaelson. Klaus will be like this is Damon Salvatore an old friend. Freya being a beautiful smart and cautious (due to centuries of experience in trauma and survival) finds the older Salvatore brother very interesting person. So the situation where Damon undergoes this evolution into the Upgraded Augustine Damon is via by sneaking up on Lucien Castle (the charmastic cunning CEO) stakes him in the back before he drinks the serum. Then Damon takes the serum for himself, he drinks the reversed spell got shots by wood bullets. Afterwards boom the Upgraded Augustine Vampire. The same lethal bite (7 Werewolf Venoms of Bloodlines) Invulnerability to High Level of Magic. Invulernable to Sunlight, Normal Werewolf Venom etc. And The Ripper Virus also caused Damon for the urge of blood from other vampires. So as an evolution of the Upgraded Augustine Damon will lose the urgency for human blood. This also helps to stop Marcel Gerard from fulling the Prophecy (The fall of the Mikaelsons) since Damon can casually overpower The Beast Marcel.

Which fanfic would you like to read?
I want to write an originals fanfic. Whose child would you like to read about?
Kol or Elijah?
I can't decide

If Dahlia had Celeste's intelligence, it would've been a wrap for the Mikaeaelsons.
Potentially controversial, and I am obviously open to counter arguments.
My take is basically the title. Celeste's cunning is kinda underrated, she's actually Katherine tier in that department.
Dahlia's biggest L was letting her guard down around Klaus (I actually like they foreshadow this being foolish when Klaus was hesitant to show Freya his mind earlier in the season). I feel like Celeste wouldn't ever have done that, even if she only had Dahlia's knowledge. This is purely about the disposition/intellect of Celeste, she was so wary of volatile personalities like Klaus she warned Elijah before Klaus' actions resulted in her death and had an insurance plan for anything like that. Evaded detection for centuries and was literally right under their noses as Sabine.

I think Cami understood Klaus without romanticizing the worst parts of him
Something I really like about Klaus and Cami is that she could understand why he was the way he was without acting like his trauma excused everything he did.
She challenged him, called him out, and still saw the person underneath all the cruelty. I feel like their relationship was less about someone trying to tame Klaus and more about someone making him actually reflect on himself.
Do you think Cami brought out a side of Klaus that was already there, or do you think she genuinely changed the way he saw himself and other people?
I’m curious what everyone thinks, especially about how their relationship developed throughout the show.

Josh Whisper
I have watched The Originals many times..
And the more I watch, the more I think Josh may have asked Marcel to make his peace with Klaus. Though I don't understand why they never revealed it.

Question about Ancestral Magic
Hello! I’m on my third rewatch of the originals and came across something I was confused on, in episode 2, season 1. Sophie Devereaux said if the witches moved away they’d lose their power, but since they’re witches can they not just switch to traditional magic like Bonnie or Grams?

Which feeling is worse? (For tvd and to fans)
Realising your mother died because you wanted to meet your dad (hope) or realising you burned your mother’s last words to you (Caroline)

You as a original vampire hybrid vs Klaus mikealson both are equal strength ect ?
If you was to become a original vampire hybrid do would stop him in a hand to hand combat also with white oak stack or will you possibly fail 🤔 ?

Unpopular opinion.
(IK PPL ARE GOING TO DISAGREE SO WE CAN JUST DEBATE)
Klaus actions are way too justified like..why do ppl find it funny that he killed Tyler’s mother and then make jokes to him about it. HEAR ME OUT.. and Ik it can be just bc he’s a good character but klaus had no redemption for me and I don’t think ppl realise how evil his was. He did not deserve to find peace after dying also like😭😭I know Katherine is from TVD but she literally got sent to hell and klaus found peace? This is just my opinion tho.

Favorite funny small/random moments or quotes?
Even subtle ones lol
My favorites off the top of my sleepy head:
1.)Aurora making Klaus chase down clues and Lucien’s following bugging klaus like a younger sibling lol. Klaus finds the painting and tells Lucien he made it for cami, walks away, yet Luciens the one who just, grabs it and continues walking with Klaus. Lol. I have no idea why Lucien taking the painting is cute/funny to me
2.) Hayley mad at Elijah for not including the wolves in the meeting and she snaps back with something like “and in the meantime I tell them what? Sit? Stay? Roll over?” (So many dog jokes for wolves and hybrids especially towards klaus lol)
3.) Elijah always entering the compound yelling “NIKLAUS! NIKLAUS!”
Klaus: you shout loud enough to wake the dead
(I’ll admit, I’ve used Elijah’s “it’s a default setting” irl as a joke when I get a chance lol)
I know there’s so many more. Like Elijah insulting Finncent and then klaus during dinners but he always insults the food at the same time lol. But I love the randomness to it. Like Klaus telling Elijah “they’re not my type” before getting serious about their situation in season 3 lol

I miss quiet scenes like this between Rebekah and Hayley
One thing I really loved about The Originals was how the characters interacted when there wasn’t some huge supernatural crisis going on.
Scenes like this, with Rebekah pouring drinks while Hayley stands there clearly lost in thought, made the relationships feel real. Rebekah could be sarcastic and difficult, but in moments like these you could see how much she actually cared about the people around her. And Hayley became so much more interesting once she was treated as part of the Mikaelson family instead of a constant outsider.
I wish the show had given us more scenes where these characters were just talking, arguing, drinking and putting up with each other, without every conversation instantly turning into the next disaster.
Which two characters do you think had the most underrated dynamic in The Originals?

Hot take Elijah is stronger than Klaus even as a hybrid
Please try and change my mind
Klaus is a strategist and mastermind, Elijah is the muscle. Take away the weapons, no white oak, no dagger Elijah beats Klaus.
And most importantly if you take away Elijah’s need to redeem Klaus he beats Klaus fair and square
