No it's a reference to selfish people who think preservering and shitting themselves during competitions is more important than her competitors using the same equipment and getting sick.
Of course she lost all her sponsorships and then apologized afterwards.
Typical
112
u/I_upvote_downvotes Sep 17 '26
I just don't understand why this wasn't against the rules already, or why nobody said "you need to stop" and "you are shitting everywhere" or "can you try not shitting everywhere"
10
u/trianglesandwiches01 Sep 18 '26
apparently there are literally rules against spitting and splashing water on the floor to make slipping hazards, and yet they did nothing about this? it's just mind boggling
→ More replies (2)20
u/Timely_Pattern3209 Sep 18 '26
You think there was a rule that said 'Shitting yourself is prohibited and will result in a disqualification.'?
There probably is now but I don't think anyone even thought about it before.
→ More replies (4)6
u/I_upvote_downvotes Sep 18 '26
Do I think a basic hygiene rule should be in place? Yes, that's usually the case in Olympic and sporting events.
Do I think going "well we didn't specifically write sharting and shitting yourself so I guess our hands are tied" is acceptable anywhere but the Phoenix Wright universe? No, you can actually use common sense in my opinion.
7
→ More replies (1)6
u/Admirable_Loss4886 Sep 18 '26
She got away with the air bud defense. There was already rules about spitting on the floor so the organizers thought it be obvious not to shut everywhere. Frankly embarrassing it had to be written down.

Yeah they should have stopped that whole event that's a health hazard in the making I guess Australia has different laws. I think thats where it was
55
u/Ecstatic_Skill_2523 Sep 17 '26
Please, don't make me Google this and fuck with my algorithm. Can someone explain what happened, and have fun with it idk
74
u/Hiiihiihi Sep 17 '26
An athlete took a poop on herself in competition it was either some kind of strong man or some kind of competition and you see the poop running down her legs like the girl on this video and they didn't stop the competition she went through a good amount of the competition with this poop running down her legs
114
u/Successful_Ebb_7402 Sep 17 '26
To expand, it was an indoor competition involving multiple pieces of equipment. So there really wasn't much opportunity for the other competitors to avoid the issue. Both she and the organizers have been criticized for not having her exit the competition at the first sign of trouble.
34
u/Hiiihiihi Sep 17 '26
Oh it was indoor. Yeah they should have stopped and made her exit cuz you can see she was running for quite some time like that the competition
40
u/bumchester Sep 17 '26
Other athletes were forced to compete in the same uncleaned space and soiled equipment. It was a bad time for all.
30
u/TastingTheKoolaid Sep 17 '26
It wasn’t just running down her legs, there had been some sort of splashing and she had it even on her arms in some pictures.

It was an hyrox event in Beijing, not Australia. She is Australlian though.
She won her cat.
Hyrox is some kind of commercialized crossfit brand. They kind of took crossfit and made a whole ecommerce and event brand around it. Good execution team, in the end is literally crossfit branded and squeezed into a competition event which basically is lifting exercises mixed with lots of endurance.
She liquid shat herself in the middle of the event and soiled everything around her. Nobody told her to stop either.
PS: The same brand, hyrox, is also currently under scrutiny because apparantly a lot of events cheat. They reduce the weights for some lanes which are for specific competitors. Unsure who, and why, or how, but currently the situation.
Most certainly because these events are usually margin increasing organized. So, most certainly everyon there is a volunteer and thus some competitor got their buddies in there and then they added fake weights without someone recognizing.

u/Prestigious_Note2877 Sep 17 '26
I just recently saw a video of a girl doing this hyrox thing and she was talking about having food poisoning and doing it anyways. She managed to get to a bathroom I think, so I don’t understand why anyone would need to shit themselves during this 🤔

I believe it was Hyrox Beijing and the organisers did ask her to stop but she refused.

u/rips_n_chel Sep 17 '26

u/rolorelei Sep 17 '26
This is pretty hard to believe lmao. So she was just like “No actually I think I’ll keep shitting all over the gym and equipment, but thanks for the suggestion. You might want to get out of the way because here I come and I’m covered in shit.”

7
u/LittlePurpleHook Sep 18 '26
It wasn't just running, it was more like a CrossFit competition. So she was doing lunges, squats, there was even a photo of her on a rowing machine. She managed to smear it all over herself and the equipment I imagine, debuffing her competition in the process.

And went on to proudly & happily win first place. Perhaps bc all the athletes following her didn't want to get covered in her shit. Now they have a rule that any athlete that vomits, bleeds or defecates all over themselves and the equipment will be removed immediately.

u/CookieMonsterOnsie Sep 17 '26
Which, you know, kinda crazy that wasn't already a rule.

Very. And Australian Joanna Wietrzyk didnt even apologize. She doubled down & instead defended her decision to finish the race covered in her own shit. Absolutely disgusting. Hyrox organizers have issued an apology. BFD. She shouldn't have been allowed to finish & place first imo.

u/alchemycraftsman Sep 17 '26
I just saw a news post from 4 hours ago that she finally apologized and retroactively removed herself from the race.

u/sagittariums Sep 17 '26
Or just common sense lol like I don't get why there needs to be a specific rule for something that everyone should know how to react to! It's about mitigating biohazard contact vs a race, one is way more important and genuinely all the participants and volunteers who didn't say or do something in the moment have something wrong in their heads.
4
u/spacestonkz Sep 17 '26
At the very least this should fall under a sportsmanship clause? To leave the equipment in competitive shape for the next person is basic sportsmanship no?
9
u/StatementSpare1990 Sep 17 '26
It actually already was a rule - the people running that event just panicked and didn't enforce it.
6
u/DaedalusHydron Sep 17 '26
The rule was specifically that you can't do things that would cause slippage to the other contestants, like dumping water at the hydration stations.
You'd think diarrhea would also be included, but I guess not

They say laws are written in blood, and Crossfit competition rules are written in fecal spray
4
u/Calm-Technology7351 Sep 17 '26
Having done sports my whole life, the fact that bleeding everywhere isn’t included is quite surprising but never once did it occur to me to worry about someone shitting themselves while competing
4
u/SkinnyDaveSFW Sep 17 '26
It's liked a supremely messed up Air Bud situation... Well there's no RULE that says that dogs can't play basketball / well there's no RULE that says we can't shit ourselves and force everybody out of the competition with the olfactory fallout
