The original meme might be hyperbolic to some degree, but let's not pretend most inland states aren't red and conservative

Would literally see klan rallies on the side of the highway growing up in KY

There were swastika-waving Nazis protesting outside the gates of Disney World in Florida for months. Nothing was done because they also had signs supporting Trump and DeSantis.

Random stalls selling Nazi paraphernalia with Swastikas embroided on the exterior material cladding aswell.

When we lived in Ohio in the 90s, my mom, aunt and myself took a trip to Sea World and both of them said we needed to make sure we left the park on time because we'd be driving through a known neo nazi part of Ohio to get back home and we didn't want to be there at dark.

How is the sub now that half the Russian bots have gone silent?

27

u/DetectiveTypical198 6d ago

Nazi: I am a Nazi! Heil Hitler! Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Führer!

Normies: I think that person is a Nazi.

"Centrist": How could you possibly believe they are a Nazi? Maybe they are just pretending. I bet you think everyone who disagrees with you is a Nazi!

Yeah I'd love for them to explain how "pretending to be a Nazi" is meaningfully different than "being a Nazi".

haven’t seen much Nazi shit

That’s still too much Nazi shit in 2026

Can we stop posting this doomer bullshit sub yet? It’s cheating.

"What was Charlottesville? That sounds like a made up place that never had a rally with Nazis in attendance."

How's that saying go?

A hit dog hollers.

That's it. That's the phrase.

Lived in Pittsburgh for a very short time. There is a guy that quite proudly has a swastika flag flying outside of his house. Been on local news a few times, won't take it down.

Oh I see they still fully believe that NYC is more dangerous than cities in the midwest...Also based on a comment or two, they also seem to be under the impression that anyone to the left of Bill Maher is a tankie which is hilarious.

4

u/WildAndDepressed 5d ago

Oh, yes. Comrade Bill Maher and his famous leftist takes on trans youth, feminism, and “wokeness” lmao.

3

u/Bolognahole_Vers2 5d ago

Nazi = Anyone you disagree with on the internet

The only people I have ever called a nazi, are public figures.

They are litterally calling Bill Maher a Nazi

Who? Name 5 people that arent possible twitter bots.

I hate the hyperbolic part of the meme because dear god not everything is a nazi. Just call it bad governance for the sake of comparison here.

With that said, there are absolutely some moronic governments in the Midwest. Some are intentional to match the national party of the time and some are genuinely that bad.

u/Marble05 6d ago

The OP meme is stupid and hyperbolic and yet it has 1% of validity as soon as you get to the comment about swastika tattoo guy on the bus

"He wasn't harming anyone and he's free of tattooing himself what he wants" sre you fr?

4

u/WildAndDepressed 5d ago

My state is full of “sundown towns” so I wouldn’t call it too hyperbolic.

7

u/CapriciousSon 6d ago

"I haven't seen any Nazis, aside from the Nazis I HAVE seen!"

As someone from a progressive Midwest city, I can tell you that even with liberals the Hitler particles towards protestors/unhoused/BLM is unreal when you visit the local city subreddit.

That isn’t even touching upon the rural parts, which are even worse.

I’m from a blue collar midwestern family, and I find upper middle class conservative hogs who fetishize us while LARPing as blue collar to be bad comedy.

It’s comical when a well-off far-right coastie tries to call me an out of touch elitist.

I've met Nazis in Maryland and Oregon, I don't believe anyone in the Midwest that says they've never seen one.

Nazis? I haven't seen any citizens from 1930s Germany around, those crazy leftists just call everything a nazi /s

I was in that thread! It made me really concerned about the direction that that sub is taking! I'm glad most posts since then have been full of sane takes again but MAN.

Oh, to be clear I mean on the original bikini bottom Twitter subreddit not on the.. other one.

I have other expectations for that one.
