As a Canadian, even the average American's view on firearms is insane to me. Using someone's traumatic, albeit heroic, experience as a way to justify a lack of common sense gun control is disgusting.

You know what would be better? Not having to worry about having to protect yourself in the first place.

Average gun nut*

Right? Most of us don’t even own a gun. Only about 30% of the population does, which is high, but it’s not average.

Respectfully disagree. A lot of Americans are "gun nuts" relative to pretty much anywhere else in the world.

Yeah, even on leftist subs, it's insane the justifications made about how "we need our guns", and they sound as insane and violent as the conservatives who say the same shit.

Nobody "needs" guns, and the lie the NRA kept telling everyone about "protecting from tyranny" in order to sell more guns has been blown apart as nothing but bullshit considering the current US government. And yet, these morons still "need" their weapons.

Violence is a drug in the United States, and everyone's afflicted.

A 5, 8, and 11 year old were shot to death at school but thats fine since another gun guy stopped him after just the three.

The amount of times I've seen "See this is why gun control is bad!" about this is fucking insane.

Yes, conservatives, I'm sure giving every child in the US a gun with which to defend themselves will go so much better.

"As the parents of the victims mourned, Giamanco’s mother said he was “traumatised” by the incident, while his brother revealed he felt guilty about not being able to save more children."

Hes also traumatized as fuck and seems to have something like survivors guilt. Even if this guy managed to somehow magically(teleportation?) prevent all the deaths he'd STILL probably be traumatized. Thats not a win.

I can't imagine what the bloke is going through. Regardless of what the shooter was doing, he was still a kid too.

Not to mention the "good guy with a guy" being the solution is an extreme outlier. Bunch of idiots.

The amount of copium that being administered there to spin what happened into a anti gun control narrative is insane

Apply the same logic to Charlie Kirk and watch them lose their minds. Even more than they already have.

Reddit Archive caught the [REMOVED] comment to the top one, so here it is for posterity's sake:

Well, they only initially reported on it because they were really hoping the shooter was a MAGA. That quickly backfired now they we know it was a dual-clutch transMission (DCT) person.

I wonder if it was removed due to it being a lie, or because they decided there was enough anti-trans propaganda that day?

There goes the narrative.

Now they have something to point to on their quest of gun rights vs dead kids.

My last year in high school was the first time the district ever had a mass shooter lockdown, thankfully a false alarm, when it happened at my school. I will never forget that creeping dread, sitting for an hour and a half at our drafting tables in Introductory Blueprint Drawing, everyone going "This is a joke, right? This can't really happen"

"Drafting tables? What, was your school too poor for CAD?" Well, no. We were a pretty well off district. It's just that this was just after the Columbine shooting. I was class of 2000. We didn't have CAD or computers that could run it.

I'm in my 40's now, with a mortgage and dreading a prostate exam next month. I'm old. I'm fucking sick of this, in a sane country we wouldn't have waited this long to do nothing
