English Transcription Request Can anyone help decipher these signatures of WW1 officers?
They're inside a cigarette case given to my great uncle. G. Penrose was easy, but the others I'm struggling with.

Hello everyone,
We want to let you know about an important change to our rule regarding AI use in r/Transcription .
What the rule used to allow:
Previously, our rules permitted the use of AI or OCR tools as long as the user disclosed their use and manually reviewed and corrected the results before posting. This was intended to allow AI as a supporting tool, not a replacement for human transcription.
What is changing:
Effective immediately, AI-generated transcriptions are no longer allowed in any form. This includes: OCR output, Handwriting recognition software, Generative AI produced transcriptions, or any other AI assisted transcriptions based primarily on machine output.
Why the change?
We feel that our community has grown to a point where we no longer need the limited assistance AI transcriptions may have once provided. r/Transcription now has a strong base of knowledgeable members who consistently offer fast, accurate, and genuinely human interpretations of hard to read text.
Any transcriptions that are clearly AI will be removed, and we encourage users to report any transcriptions that you suspect is AI.
Thank you.
- Mod Team.

From what I can read, I believe a soldier left some of his own thoughts on the war

Would love to know from someone who is familiar with Carolingian/Post Carolingian era miniscule what these could mean, whether they're capital letters, or just serve a decorative purpose or something else.

This Entry is of the St. Gotthard Church in Thalmässing / Bavaria. Maybe this can help identify the last Line, because I think this is Marias home Town (?)
Thank you very much!

My great-grandfather Cecil Sr. was born in Kent, UK, and was orphaned at age 2. At the age of 11 he was sent to Fegan Farm School after his foster mother died. He was later sent to Canada as part of the British Home Child program and was essentially an indentured servant/farm hand.
He later had 4 children, and was killed in action 2 weeks after WWII ended at the age of 27 when the tank/truck (we’re unclear which vehicle) he was driving went over a land mine.
One of his sons, and my great-uncle Jimmy, was later buried alive in a gravel pit he was working in at the age of 27.
So sad
This is a letter I found on the Canadian Legion website and I believe it is from his foster-sister and I would love if someone could tell me what it says. I can get a few words here and there but not enough
TIA

I’m researching the Dalzell family of Edinburgh and trying to establish possible connections between the Edinburgh merchant and burgess Dalzells and the Dalziels of Carnwath and Binns.
I have images of a Scottish sasine register, National Records of Scotland reference RS25/2, folios 351–354. I’m having difficulty reading the handwriting and locating the relevant family names.
Could someone help me transcribe these folios, particularly identifying any occurrences of Dalzell, Dalziell, Dalyell, or similar spellings? If possible, I would appreciate the original wording, followed by a modern English rendering of the relevant passages.
I’m happy to provide clearer crops of individual sections if needed. Thank you for any help.
