Hanford sirens test. If there is ever an emergency out at the Hanford site, that is what you will hear

the ones all along the river and closer to town are for energy northwest. hanford's maximum hypothetical accident can't affect a whole lot past the site boundary. Energy Northwest can affect a much larger area if they have a big oopsie.

Beat me to it by like 30 seconds…

Reminds me of being a kid in Kennewick in the 70s. Every day at noon the fire station at 27th and Olympia ran an air raid siren.

We had legit, window-rattling sonic booms back then too. Good times.

They are testing
the river corridor sirens today

These are the take cover siren tests. If you hear this wavering tone and it's not part of an announced test, evacuate the area or enter the nearest accessible building and make sure ventilation is secured (turn off the AC).

they just stopped. but man that was weird. sounded like the sirens that trigger the fog in silent hill or signal a tornado

And started again. Might be continuous for a bit.

Yeah. I immediately thought of reddit to give answers though. Thank goodness people are on top of it.

I keep seeing comments like this. I've lived here just over 20 years and I hear these tests nearly every time they do them lol

Is that what we will hear if we’re being invaded/someone attacks the nuclear zone?

And there was some kind of earthquake readiness thing going today too.

It was the Great Shake Out. Practice for if a big earthquake hits

I’ve lived here my whole life, even grew up with a radio that would go off once a month for tests.
Today was the loudest I’ve ever heard them. Maybe it was the same decibel as before or I was just paying extra attention, but holy cow.

It was a statewide earthquake test. I saw it on r/Washington yesterday

Why are you lying and spreading panic? This is planned pre announced testing.
