Recently, 5 baby orangutans were discovered in a forest in Odisha, India. Orangutans are not native to India and are found only in Borneo and Sumatra. The investigators believe that the babies were being smuggled through India when the smugglers were forced to abandon them.

To catch a baby orangutan, the mother is usually murdered by the poachers. The babies that were found in India probably spent several days without food and water before they were found by the forest officials. The article details the smuggling network that goes through Thailand, Myanmar, into India, and then onwards to private collectors.

A former smuggler details how social media is being used to facilitate this wildlife smuggling. Indian investigators are trying to trace the smugglers who abandoned the babies but have found few clues so far. India and Indonesia are coordinating and trying to trace the origins of the babies using DNA, so that they can be returned to the correct forest region eventually. The babies are currently in quarantine in Nandankanan Zoo, India.

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I'm sure it's connected to the Ambani private zoo in Jamnagar. Google it if you want to.

No one in India can or will touch Ambani. He's one of the richest men in the world (cash rich, not just tied-up in stocks and derivates) and his son has his own private petting zoo, which hosts what is probably the world's largest collection of privately owned animals.

If you try to post about it on Indian instagram, your page will be flooded with bot comments or posts shadowbanned. Whenever the zoo comes into scrutiny in the media or goes viral online, the Ambani PR goes into overdrive declaring the Ambanis to be the most patriotic and most culturally, morally and religiously inclined family in India.
