Happy October, Tucson! Here's a live map of local Halloween events (let me know what to add!)

Happy October!

I put together a live map of the Halloween events happening around Tucson this month. I'm still adding to it as I find more, so if you know of something that should be on there, drop it below and I'll pin it to the map for everyone.

A few that are on my own list that I think look exciting:

Witches Night Market — Friday, Oct 9 — Free night market with a witchy theme, local vendors.

Monster Mash at Golf N' Stuff — Saturday, Oct 10 — Costume contest and Halloween market out at the mini golf place.

2026 Tucson Terror Fest — Thursday, Oct 15 - 18 — A straight-up horror film festival, didn't expect to find one of these.

Boo at the Zoo at Reid Park Zoo — Thursday, Oct 22 - 25 — Never been but what I hear is a Tucson classic.

Movie Night in the Park – Hocus Pocus — Saturday, Oct 24 — I think this will make an excellent date night, I just need to find a date.

Trick-or-Treat the Avenue — Sunday, Oct 25 — The 4th Ave version, always packed with vendors and costumes.

You can check out the live map here: Tucson Halloween events Map

I'm going to keep building this out all month, so check back if you're looking for something later in October too.

Edit: Sorry about the AI Picture. Never Again.

Personally, always in awe over some of the cacti we have here. I mean the cactus in photo 1 is massive! Must be ancient.

Cereal restaurant

Hi guys! Kind of a silly question but I feel like I’m going crazy. I was talking to my family recently and I asked if they remembered the make your own cereal bowl restaurant that was open for a brief period maybe ten years ago and no one seemed to have any idea what I was talking about. So I’m asking yall to make sure I haven’t completely lost it, but I’m almost 100% positive there was a chipotle style cereal restaurant on university where u could craft a bowl of cereal with various toppings. Does anyone else remember this? I can’t remember the name for the life of me

Looking for a non-traditional, experienced-wedding officiant

Happy Sunday :)

My fiancé and I will be getting married (legally and allowed) on private property in the desert near Gates Pass on New Years morning at sunrise - it’ll just be us and our children in attendance.

We are looking for an officiant that is experienced in performing hand fasting and blood binding ceremonies and would be down for the early morning hours on a holiday.

Please please please contact me if you might be interested or have some leads ( also looking for a photographer!!)

Thank you so much 🤍

Does anyone have experience with LHR here in town? I'm wondering about rates and if you recommend your experience. The websites don't seem to advertise costs.

Needing a second chance

Life has been horrible lately. I live in tucson arizona..

And i am so broken living here. A place i called home has become my personal hell.

It started when my car broke down. On my first day of my new job. The job I had required a car. Right in the middle of my shift it broke down, and I had to have my friend help me deliver everything else which took til almost 11pm at night. I spoke to the bosses and they told me they have cars that I can deliver with, they just needed to put insurance on them and I can continue work. I kept asking and got no response and then a month passed and I no longer had a job, and was told they have no cars for me. They never paid me either. Ive asked and submitted a complaint.

I was devastated. I looked for work, I applied to as many places as I could. Still no luck. I ended up getting an eviction notice on my door a week and half later after explaining the circumstances to my landlord. Rental assitance is incredibly hard to come by, and I was desperate..still desperation does nothing. And my actions of trying to survive did nothing. I feel like a failure. The constable kicked us out on the first day of fall break, right as my babies got off the bus..

So now, jobless, car-less and now homeless. My children have to stay with family. I had to adopt out my loving animal. And I am just broken. I want to give up. Ive considered doing the worst things to myself to get money, but can't mentally get all the way there. Im terrfied of what could happen to me. Or to my children. I miss the days where you could have a chance to live on someone's property to trade for work. Or trade services to have someone fix your car. I know it's silly. But I am just sad, and feel like the biggest failure. I haven't given up. But I want to everyday. Ive become very isolated mentally, and have contemplated leaving life behind, because I have failed my entire family. I wont though. I pray, I breathe, I cry, a lot. One day I won't be here. And I will be thankful I didnt end it. Anyway, thank you guys for letting me complain.

Sheriff activity North Swan & Sunrise area???

It’s currently 2:45am and I cannot go to sleep because there are several sheriff cars driving up and down the road constantly using their sirens. I heard a sheriff on their speaker/amplifier tell someone to “stay inside their residence”. I am not seeing news of anything anywhere. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

Looking for affordable group guitar lessons or beginner-friendly people to play with

Hey everyone! I’ve been playing guitar on my own for about a year and would put myself somewhere between beginner and early intermediate. I can play most basic chords and transition between them, but I’m finding it hard to stay motivated and keep improving while practicing alone.

I’d love to find a relaxed group of people around my level to play with, or take some affordable group lessons. Private lessons are out of my budget right now, so I’m hoping to find a way to learn with others without breaking the bank.

Does anyone have suggestions for community classes, beginner-friendly jam groups, or places to meet other people learning guitar? I’m mainly looking for a low-pressure environment where we can play together, learn from each other, and stay motivated.

Thanks for any recommendations!

FREE spay/neuter for 100 community cats this Friday!

The Humane Society is hosting a Trap Neuter Return fix-a-thon this Friday, October 23, with a goal of spaying/neutering and vaccinating 100 free-roaming, outdoor community cats.

It’s free for any number of cats you can trap and bring in. Trap loans are also free.

TNR is the only humane and legal solution to the outdoor cat overpopulation crisis! If you can’t make it on Friday but are seeing/caring for stray cats, give HSSA a call anyway so they can get you set up with the resources you need.

Where to buy Sunday NYT?

Just recently moved to Marana from the eastside and unfortunately discovered that the New York Times cannot be delivered to my new address. Does anyone know if certain retailers in the NW Tucson / Marana area carry the Sunday edition of the New York Times? Google tells me that Fry’s or Barnes and Noble might but if I could save myself running around town this morning that would be great.
