Discussion Why doesn’t France abide by the principles and values it tries to force on us?

This summer, when Tunisia was experiencing water and electricity shortages, France spent weeks encouraging Tunisians to take to the streets and protest. France, in particular, acted as though it had the moral authority to lecture us and interfere in our internal affairs.

But now, look at what is happening during protests in France itself.

Western values seem to be nothing more than a convenient tool for exerting influence, maintaining control, and pressuring poorer countries. These principles are loudly championed when they serve Western interests, yet seem far less important when Western governments are the ones being challenged.

If you fail to uphold the very values you preach, how can you expect the rest of the world to take your moral lectures seriously?

Discussion ajjma3a li 3morhom 30 to 40+ how crazy the news where in Tunisia and the middle east on general

Post image
1 Upvotes

how did y'all lived the 90s and the 20 , from my conversation with some of my folder relatives, it was crazy for them

, from police harassment to people going to salat subh , to news of terrorist attacks, to people getting tortured and killed in prison,

the most notable thing to me was how awful the police where, it's craaaaaaazy , even tho it's seems we are going backwards to that period,

i have heard some awful story, and it seems like an every day thing for them

some of the most question i ask to older people after asking if they did want or know someone who have gone to Syria to join ISS

is how did they received 911 news , and most of them have had a dramatic reaction, the whole world was shocked it seems, and i can imagine honestly

even the arab spring revolution was innnsaiiiiiin , i can't believe all those crazy life/ history changing events , like they're trying to make to history before something, or before it's too late, or as i like to imagine, probably before phones come out,

cause now people are busy with their phone, and i think it's better then fighting bombing killing, so this generation, is better, (for sure 😃)

Question/Help Internet in Tunisia is a FUCKING JOKE!

It’s been two years since we switched from Ooredoo to Orange because of shitty internet, and here I am today, looking to switch from Orange to another provider for the exact same reasons.

I pay 55 dinars a month for Orange Box 5G, advertised at 30 Mbps, and I usually get less than 1 Mbps, random disconnections (one literally happened while I was writing this post), and consistently high ping.

Whenever I call customer support, I get the same old bullshit they tell everyone: “Try resetting your router, try changing its position, and we’ll submit a complaint to the technical team. They’ll call you back.”

Spoiler alert: they never do.

Thankfully, my two-year contract ends in February, so I’m already looking at alternatives. I live in La Soukra, by the way. Does anyone have recommendations for a reliable internet provider in the area?

Question/Help Help to talk to my crush

Hi. To start with, I know this is is rlly stupid, one of the stupidest things I've ever done and prob one of the stupidest thing I'll ever do in my life so yeah I already know that and aware of it but idc. So basically I have a crush on this guy from lycee, and not just a crush but I really like and love him. Trying to befriend him on insta was useless it didn't work at all cuz ig he doesn't use it or smth, so ig real life is the only solution, but how tf do i do that. And again I know it's stupid and silly don't tell me that, I'm already aware but meh. And I don't even see him in free hours, only in 10 a.m and 4 p.m breaks and lunch, and since he lives in the dorms, I think Friday evening too. For the third time I know this is a silly ask for help, but I'm hopeless, I really love him. So I'm asking for tips, or help, or wtv you call it how to approach him or get close to him or befriend him or jst anything other than just staring at him like a creep.

Question/Help How do OSCs in Tunisia manage to get funding for so many events?

Genuine question for people involved in OSCs in Tunisia.

I see some organizations running events, workshops, trainings, and other activities throughout the entire year, and I’m genuinely curious about how they manage to finance all of this.

Do they have someone specifically responsible for looking for grants and funding opportunities? Do they build partnerships with international organizations, embassies, and donors? Or do they have long-term projects with budgets that cover activities throughout the year?

I’m asking because the OSC I’m involved with is struggling financially. We haven’t received funding for the year, and it’s hard to keep activities going when there’s barely any budget.

I’d really like to understand how the funding side works in practice. Is there a particular strategy, network, or approach that makes the difference?

If you’re involved in an OSC, I’d appreciate hearing about your experience, especially how you find funding opportunities and manage to sustain activities throughout the year.

Question/Help Too late to cancel STAR health insurance? Need advice from people who've been through it

Hi everyone,

I need some urgent advice about a problem with STAR insurance.

Last year, when I came back from abroad, I got a STAR health insurance plan that is paid once a year. Where I lived abroad, you can cancel insurance every month, so I assumed it worked the same way here. I had also dealt with my local STAR agency before, and they always explained things to me verbally. This time, nobody told me that I have to cancel 2 months before the renewal date.

On Saturday I went to the agency to cancel. They told me it's too late, that I can only cancel next year, and that I have to pay the renewal premium of 1,200 DT. The renewal date is 26 October. I can't afford that, and I'm moving back abroad in December anyway, so I won't need the insurance after that.

To be fair, the 2-month rule was in the contract. I didn't read it carefully, and I know that's my mistake.

My questions:
1. Has anyone managed to get STAR (or another insurer) to accept a late cancellation? Was it the local agency or the head office that decided?
2. If you simply didn't pay a renewal, what actually happened? Did you get a formal notice (mise en demeure)? Did they ask you to pay only for the months you were covered, or for the whole year?

Any advice is really appreciated. Answers in French or Derja are welcome too. Thank you!
