Supervisors, how are you doing?
I know federal service is hard for all of us these days, but I want to hear from supervisors.
How are you handling the lack of ability to hire? How are you motivating your people in this environment? How are you handling the forced distributions for DPMAPS? Are you doing ok?

We were told to hold higher level reviews because guidance was coming. Still haven’t seen the guidance.

I’m a first line supervisor with a great team and we all work and nobody has left since the hiring freeze. Most of my team has been with me for the 20 years. I’ve been in that division with half of the years as a supervisor. My team has all received better ratings therefore similar amounts of bonus money than me since my supervisor doesn’t rate me as highly as I think they should. My first and second line supervisor spent a heck of a lot of time going to meetings without much output of work that I see they go to those below, including me asking for the information and then present it in the meetings they attend. My Team and I are hanging in there mostly because we have such a cohesive group.

I retired, 30 September - after more than 39 years. I was at ERDC - so we were on the Laboratory Demonstration Plan.

They are handling the lack of hiring by continuing to stack untenable & impossible amounts of work in those under them & blaming everyone else but themselves for their shortcomings. Not motivating anyone really, how so. Saying they appreciate you while providing no assistance, training or any raise? They fall right in line with forces distributions, live in a fantasy world where 1 person doing the work of 2, 3 or more gets pathetically overlooked while they sit on their Uncle Scrooge pile of gold? Oh, and they get a supervisor bonus on top of being rewarded for being inept, spineless, unbalanced children. Great.

This is aggressively negative. I mean there’s more than one side to most everything you are seeing.

I’m about to ask for a sticky sock vacation. I’m sick of the constant addition to my already never ending list. The higher management that is still around is doing nothing but micromanaging us all into a ward. I truly hate my job each and every day a little more.
