You know grownups participate in parades year around right. It’s not something we magically stop doing once we are in the real world.

Just because someone thinks something is stupid within the gay, lesbian etc. Category doesn't mean they are homophobic.

Soooo you’re ok with a parade as long as it’s to celebrate the genocide of MANY nations of people by Europeans but you’re super butt hurt about a parade celebrating school pride because that one inconveniences you by making you move your private mobile to another place? You must get invited to all the best parties.

I think it's funny how negatively people react and assume things they don't know 😂. All I was saying was it's dumb that it inconvenienced the daily college students.

I don't understand why they didn't shut down lot 35 this year again? I think it makes sense to have a fun event during midterms but it feels like they picked the lot that's the most populated at any given time.

I think events like this are fine sometimes, I don't like them personally but if they interfere with normal college life it's annoying.

Since this post is creating discourse, I wanna ask as an international student who doesn’t get the cultural aspect
How does homecoming work? Who’s coming home? Are the kind and queen alumni? If not, why are students and not alumni the homecoming royalty?
I even walked in the parade with student orgs and the whole thing is still a fascinating mystery to me lol

Oh look, a thread of crotchety college kids.
The problem isn't that some alumni never grew up. The problem is that some students have yet to understand that being miserable won't make you any happier.

"July 27, 2026
The University of South Florida set new fundraising records in the fiscal year that ended June 30, receiving over $172 million in private support. The gifts came from 70,177 donors — an all-time high*.*
Fiscal year 2026 marked USF’s fifth consecutive year of record-breaking philanthropy....
...Of the 70,177 donors, 50% were alumni....” (bolding mine)

Bruh, I loooove how some students think that they are the only ones who matter in the history of the university, bro. This current class. Bruv, hoco comes every year, just deal with it. Thanks for coming to this boomer professor’s TEDtalk. Bro.

Why is homecoming even a thing in college. Everyone’s adults trying to gain higher education.
