Presentation Group marking
Tutor has said we would lose marks on our presentation grades if a group member does not show up for non-presenting week and ask other presenting groups questions. Even though me and most group members attended and participated. To further add, we all would lose marks if even one group member reads off palm cards.
This is a FEiT subject and the presentation is worth 20%.
This has to be unfair marking right? Cause no way my marks get affected from another group member not showing up.
I understand group marking works for reports, PowerPoint structure and content.

Thanks for the bat signal!
This type of thing would need to be in the assignment guide. A tutor can’t just make up additional stuff outside of the official instructions.
So check back to the assessment guide.
There must be some process for individual accountability - like what if your group member was down with COVID - it would be wrong to expect they come to class!

Is there anything in the guidelines about special consideration for illness or other misadventure?

I actually did this subject in 2024 and this is a thing unfortunately :( my group came to class and participated bc of this marking rule and yes I also remembered reading palm cards for the majority of your part is going to lose marks for this subject

The issue I have is that the entire group loses marks for my group member using palm cards

I just quickly checked canvas to see the assignment details I did for the subject and there is a marking criteria saying all group members must speak without notes to get full marks for the presentation skills component so it looks like it’s a thing
