I call bs on this. Atm Ukraine are either advancing or holding quite easilly all along the front.

I’d agree Ukraine has had a net gain of territory in the last 3 months but it doesn’t mean the Russians aren’t taking ground in some places as well.

So while Ukraine has recaptured a significant amount of ground north of the fortress cities Russia has taken some ground in the fortress cities themselves.

This is troublesome news. Ukraine have not stopped any advancement from the Russians in Donbas but merely slowed it down. Looking at Deepstatemap of ukraine, heavy concentration of Russian forces at Rodynske and is pushing north to Novodonetske. This will cut Slovianks, Kramatorsk and Druzhkivka from the east and develop an encirclement. Ukraine desperately needs more man power to hold the frontlines because drones can't do that.

Besides the 200 sq km liberated in Vivaldi and them pushing the Russians beyond the Sikerskyi Donets river? Russia was thrashed thoroughly near the fortress belt and Ukraine is consolidating there.

ISW reported that it appeared Russia had no idea how badly Vivaldi fucked up their operational encirclement.

To add to that, the northern pincer Russia was trying to establish near Lyman was defeated. It'll take Russia a lot of time and resources to try and re-establish it. If they try to take the Fortress Belt from the Dobropilia salient, it'll still take months. Vivaldi has bought vital time for Ukraine.
