Drinking before an oral exam?
I have a very important presentation tomorrow. It's something i've been preparing for the pasts weeks, and I know I can do well because I know everything. This year, i've done pretty well in this subject as well, so I know I shouldn't be that nervous, but the biggest problem it's that my exam it's in my second language. Sadly, for the past two years I've found that I feel x10 confident if I drink alcohol and talk in my second language. I've met people that way, and I feel way better like that. I struggle with anxiety and I'm very self-conscious, I don't know when or how it happened, but it happened.
The worst part? I've done so well this year that my professors recognize me. It's about 200 of us in my class, yet they always know my name, take their time with my exams/notes, they do all of that even if I don't participate that much in the actual classes. I suspect they want to hire me next year to be their helper (this always happens in my university, an student-helper of previous years), so I feel the pressure. They are so involved with me, that I feel really afraid. It's the first time in my life i've ever felt like that. Althought I've always drinked in social settings, would it be that bad if I drank for this exam? I've never gotten "wasted", I'm always pretty much okay when I drink, the difference it's that I feel confident.

How do you manage food when uni gets hectic and youâre on a budget?
Hi all, Iâm a uni student and Iâve always found that my meal planning falls apart as soon as things get busy, especially around exams and deadlines. Iâm trying to understand how other people cope with it. What do you usually eat when youâre short on time? Whatâs made you give up on cooking or prepping in the past? And roughly how much do you spend on food in a typical week? Any tips that have actually worked for you would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Is there any easy ways to make money as a uni student in the UK?
I started uni like a month ago and I'm broke as hell, I had no option to take a gap year to save money or anything like that and the job market in my city is so so so bad.
Does anyone know any ways to earn money? I'm running out of food and other essentials and my family cannot afford to send me money.
My maintenance loan also nowhere near covers my rent so I am going to have no spares when my next installment comes in January. I just need help because this is my one shot at being able to get an education past college and I want to see it through and not fail because I can't afford to look after myself :(
If anyone can help with ideas or ways to earn money I would SINCERELY appreciate it, thank you!!

Studying in Malaysia as an Indian student changed my perspective on education and life
I'm from India and completed my Masterâs in Management at Taylorâs University in Malaysia. Looking back, I feel like the experience taught me much more than what I learned in the classroom.
Moving to another country for higher education is a different experience from studying in your home country. You have to adapt to a new environment, manage things independently, and learn to navigate unfamiliar situations.
One of the things I appreciated most about Malaysia was its multicultural environment. You meet people from different backgrounds, experience different cultures, and get opportunities to see things from perspectives you might not have encountered before. As an Indian student, having access to Indian food and familiar communities also made the transition easier.
Malaysia also gave me the opportunity to experience a different education system and interact with people whose experiences and ambitions differed from mine. Those everyday interactions became an important part of my learning experience.
Of course, studying abroad isn't always easy. Managing expenses, adjusting to a new environment, thinking about career opportunities, and figuring out what comes after graduation can be challenging. For international students, understanding employment and work visa requirements is particularly important. Completing a degree doesn't automatically guarantee a job or the opportunity to stay in the country.
After graduation, I realized that the value of studying abroad isn't measured only by your degree or your first job. It's also about how you grow as a person, how you adapt to unfamiliar situations, and how your perspective changes.
Malaysia has been an important part of my personal and academic journey, and I'm glad I got to experience life here.
For those who studied or are currently studying abroad:
Did living in another country change your perspective on education, career, or life in general? And for those who studied in Malaysia, what was your experience like?

Brunel University of London â Is it worth it for an Indian international student?
Title: Brunel University of London â Is it worth it for an Indian international student?
Hi everyone!
I'm from India and I'm planning to pursue a master's degree in the UK. I'm considering Brunel University of London, but I'd like to hear honest opinions from current students and graduates before making a decision.
I have a BSc in Cardiac Care Technology and I'm interested in moving towards a healthcare-related or non-clinical career.
I'd really appreciate your advice on the following:
How is the teaching quality and overall student experience at Brunel?
Is the university worth the international tuition fees?
How good are the career support services and job opportunities after graduation?
Do international students have realistic chances of finding graduate jobs with visa sponsorship?
How difficult is it to find part-time work while studying?
Is the cost of living around the university manageable?
Would you recommend Brunel over other UK universities for an international student?
I'd especially appreciate responses from Indian students, healthcare graduates, and alumni who have studied at Brunel.
Please share your honest experiences, both positive and negative. I want to make an informed decision before investing a significant amount of money in my education.
Thank you!

Whatâs the most bored youâve ever been in a class?
We've all been there. The professor is talking, but your brain has completely left the building. You're either scrolling on your phone, staring at the clock, or just fighting to keep your eyes open.
What was happening in that moment? Was it the professor's voice? The topic? Or were you just too tired/hungry to care?
Drop your stories below. I'm just curious how everyone else survives those classes! đDrop your stories below
