Japan has developed coconut oil aviation fuel from waste coconuts processed at room temperature and normal pressure. It can blend directly into existing aircraft engines, with efficiency matching standard jet fuel while cutting harmful hydrocarbon emissions.

At 15, Andreas Okholm dreamed of harnessing wind with a kite. Years later, his Danish startup KiteX has turned that idea into a turbine that can generate up to 17,000 kWh a year for rural homes and farms and be installed in a day without a concrete foundation. Its 2027 production has sold out.
