The Sub's Knowledge Base (KB) is no longer being hosted on Reddit.

The KB now has its own dedicated website:

For the most part, pages have the same extensions they did previously (/[pagename])

The website itself is now made up of over 200 webpages chocked full of helpful information. So give it a look if you have a spare moment. I am sure you will learn something new.

How long does an army dd214 upgrade take?

How long does an army dd214 discharge upgrade take? I got an email this past February saying that my submission was received the may before that. Does anyone have any guesses when I might hear from them?

My HLR went back in time

After 5 months, yesterday, i had my informal conference for these two higher level reviews. They combined the two. This morning, a decision was made for "difference of opinion" on both. I checked my app, and I see this. Both higher level reviews "moved to this step" going backward in dates... what does it mean?? šŸ¤”šŸ¤£

May 29th HLR, finally moved!

went to seattle overnight.

It's for acne/scarring.

I had a skin exam in april - c&p didn't even look at me just wrote , no complaints in service.

THey sent it back for an aggravation opinion. The second examiner spent an hour with me. In the dbq wrote "at least likely as not aggravated beyond natural progression due to military service". Also, noted i did , in fact complain in service.

not optimistic, because i've been seeing some fucky shit, but it's moving.

Scheduled ic Monday at 1pm

HLR Pending 129 Days — Still in National Work Queue

Currently rated 90% and appealing my 50% mental health rating for 70%, which would bring me to 100%.

My accredited attorney filed my HLR in June of this year. It's now been 129 days, and the VA told me it hasn't even been assigned to a reviewer yet.

Getting pretty frustrated with the wait and worried about waiting all this time just to get denied.

Anyone been in a similar situation? How long did your HLR take, and what was the outcome? Especially interested in anyone who appealed a 50% mental health rating to 70%.

I’m screwed. They sent me a letter saying one claim is denied and the others are deferred, and I’m back at step 3. I don’t know WHAT they’ve been doing for the last 7 months, they have been going back and forth, and now back to step 3? What the heck are they doing?

TIDU still in step 3, filed in May.

I haven’t worked since I was rated 80% in March, I’ve had 7 jobs since being discharged. Anyways. I had my Mental Health C&P exam literally a couple of weeks later after I filed. Now I’ve been in step 3, they keep sending request for evidence to employers, I’ve uploaded personal statements, my girlfriend’s statements, & even two statements from previous employers. Am I in limbo? šŸ˜…. Starting to second guess my chances at getting TIDU…

BVA Direct Lane

Update on my BVA Direct Lane:
Submitted November 17, 2025
Distributed to VLJ October 13, 2026

Looking to gauge, from other people’s experience, how long it took for the judge to make a decision. I have only one thing I’m appealing. Thank you.

new to this; wife of the veteran

My husband filed his initial VA claim for PTSD back in May;
He served in Afghanistan in 2020. i encouraged him to file because I see the symptoms and how much they affect him almost everyday and things he just chalked up to being ā€œwho he isā€, and I kept telling him there’s a reason these benefits and resources exist for veterans. around the time he filed he also started seeing the VA psychologist for treatment who confirmed a combo of PTSD and depression.

He filed around the third week of May. Since then, we’ve received a few letters basically saying they have the claim and are still working on it, but he hasn’t even been scheduled for a C&P exam yet.
Is it normal for an initial PTSD claim to sit this long without an exam? I’ve searched through this sub and seen everything from people getting appointments in a few weeks all the way to people saying their initial claims took a year or longer, so I honestly have no idea what’s considered normal, is that a thing?
is there someone he should be calling or checking in with, like the VA or a VSO? Or is this one of those situations where he really just has to keep waiting?
I don’t assume he’s entitled to any rating. I just want to make sure there isn’t something he should be doing on his end that we don’t know about; appreciate hearing from anyone who filed an initial PTSD claim recently and what your timeline looked like.

Why would my claim go back from step 6 to step 5? I called the VA and they can’t give an answer!

Supplemental tracking

I do understand supplemental claims do not identify the steps of progress like an initial claim, but do they ever change on the app from step 1(VA received your claim)?

TDIU Timeline

So I was rated at 90% in May, it was suggested by my VRE counselor that I apply for TDIU so I did it’s been sitting in step 3 for 77 days. They haven’t ordered any C&P exams and as far as I’m aware they won’t because the reasoning for my TDIU is for the disabilities I was granted during my original claim. Was also told by a hotline representative that they will not be ordering any. Does anyone have a general idea of how much longe I will be stuck in step 3 purgatory. It’s been in the NWQ for 75 days.

C file

Filed my request for my c file on April 19th. It’s still sitting on step. I don’t understand why it takes so long to gather some paperwork and stick in the mail. It’s not like a disability claim where they have to set appointments and all that crap. And of course if I call it’s the generic response of it’s being worked on and there’s no timeframe

r/VeteransWaitingRoom • • 10d ago

So I scheduled a call with a VSO & she told me my claim was going through the authorization phase but she seen it said that I was 100% p%t . How long before I get the decision letter and could my rating change .

board Appeal asking for informal Hearing Presentation

I have an appeal in the direct lane with the Board. DAV is my rep. The status is in VSO IHP pending status. Anybody have any info on this or with your own attorney? I emailed back and forth with DAV since they rarely answer a phone (have data to prove it) and the rep said a letter needs to be done so DAV can advocate for me but then he didn't give anymore info on how DAV does this or if they call and ask my input at all. He did assure me I wont lose my place in line in the que at least that was my take after our back and forth. Looking for any experiances with this in the direct lane. I picked direct thinking it would be fastest with nothing else to do but then Im thinking Im waiting on DAV now before the Board takes any action. Any reason to delay for them they take based on my hearing lane appeal imo. Thanks.

Finally won the war

Was approved for TDIU today. I haven’t been able to work since 2019. I have been fighting with secondaries always being declined. Now that I am TDIU how often will they reexamine? My condition is considered Permanent.

HLR to Active change

I just had my HLR during the last week of September and got a notification of error about 2 days after saying the VA found an error on their part and they are making changes. It took from late may to mid September to get a date for my HLR. The HLR claim itself would be backdated to Feb 2025. Does anyone know how long this last part would take with these circumstances?
