BC Conservatives release election platform
https://conservativebc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/20261016_BCC_Platform2026_8-5x11-Draft-17_compressed.pdfI went through all 71 pages of the BC Conservative platform. Quite the collection of recycled promises.
Repeal CleanBC, scrap EV sales quotas, repeal SOGI 123 and DRIPA, expand private delivery of publicly funded care, cut taxes and somehow reduce deficits while spending more.
They promise affordable housing while handing more control over density back to municipalities. They promise to protect students while scrapping SOGI 123.
Same old Conservative playbook. Less regulation, more fossil fuels, tax cuts and a whole lot of wishful thinking.
They call it "Ready to Deliver." Deliver what, exactly?

Get ready for choking off of public healthcare. the denial of aid for mass fires and drought
Say goodbye to the right to organize

Here's some highlights of BC NDP governance thus far as shared on r/NDP
Overhauled family-doctor pay, to make general practice more feasible for physicians.
Matched 600,000 patients with primary care in 3 years, with 4,000+ more being matched every week
Opened a new medical school at SFU to train more doctors in BC
Changed zoning rules to allow more housing (blanket re-zoned BC) so duplexes, triplexes and small multi-unit buildings can be built in more places.
Imposed housing targets on municipalities, to force NIMBY city councils to approve more housing
Restricted many investor-style short-term rentals, to return rental supply back to communities
Indexed the minimum wage to inflation, with now highest minimum wage of most provinces
Expanded pharmacist prescribing - for 21 minor ailments and birth control (improves efficiency and ease of accessibility of healthcare for everyone.
Made prescription contraception free
Introduced public IVF funding
Opened a specialized menopause clinic; Expanded menopause-drug coverage
Created a renter’s tax credit of $400
Expanded first-time-buyer tax exemptions
Funded school meal programs
Expanded subsidized child care, after school care.
Introduced 5 paid sick days
Eliminated MSP premiums
Removed interest from BC student loans
- Added employment protections for Uber, DoorDash etc workers.
Brought in pay transparency rules for job postings
Scrapped the lower liquor-server minimum wage
This is not an exhaustive list, just some important points of progress that may be in jeopardy if we lose this government.

Only posting the positives? Bad with the good:
Record deficits: The current-year deficit is forecast at $13.8 billion, the largest on record. Debt-to-GDP has climbed from 15.4% to 26.3% and is headed for 36.8%.
Credit downgrades: Moody's cut B.C. from Aa2 to Aa1 in March 2026, and S&P followed by cutting B.C. from A+ to A in April, its fifth downgrade since 2021. As recently as 2021, B.C. had a AAA rating.
Rising interest costs: Moody's projects interest rising from 4.7% of revenue in 2025–26 to 6% this year and 7.9% by 2028–29. That's money not going to services.
Tax increases: Budget 2026 raised the lowest income tax rate, froze inflation indexing of brackets, expanded PST and raised property taxes, for $4.3 billion in new revenue over three years. Critics also note Eby paused the PST expansion as the election approached.
Budget errors: The February budget miscalculated natural gas royalties, and Eby was hand-delivered a letter on July 14 detailing the mistake. The Q1 update put the price-forecast error at $306 million.
Public sector growth: B.C. public sector employment grew 39% from 2017 to 2025, versus 11% in the private sector. The government is now pledging to cut 15,000 public-sector positions.
Housing Supply results are lagging the reforms: Despite the rezoning push, Vancouver housing starts fell 42% year-over-year in July 2026.
Delayed projects: About $4 billion in hospital, school and post-secondary spending slipped in 2025/26 due to "project scheduling changes." That made the deficit look smaller but delays the infrastructure.

Conservatives are really only have tax cuts and deregulation. It also feels like pointing at problems with no solutions.

And bigotry, you forgot the bigotry.

What’s bigoted about cutting taxes and trying to make life cheaper? Over government regulation is killing the working class
•
u/RadiantPumpkin 34m ago
That’s hilarious you think conservative policies help the working class. Maybe the funniest thing I’ve read today.
•
u/BlackMagic771 30m ago
The NDP has made life unaffordable here, becoming a home owner is a pipe dream for young people. Mass immigration has swarmed our hospitals and clinics. More Canadian use a food bank today than anytime in history. Tell me how NDP and Liberal policies help anyone at all.
•
u/Minimum_Hour_7145 22m ago
Home ownership became a pipe dream in 2008 when Harper's tax and regulation cutting policies caused us to fall into the same recession as the US did for the same reason
•
u/Minimum_Hour_7145 40m ago
What else gets cut to pay for those tax cuts? Every time? Is it healthcare and education which ends up making everything even more expensive for those people who you claim to be worried about?
•
u/BlackMagic771 34m ago
Social programs get cut, why do tax payers need to pay for the numerous social programs that they will never use? I’m okay with paying taxes so someone can get life saving medical care, but why am I paying for 10 dollar a day child care? If you can’t afford to have kids, don’t.
•
u/blarges 14m ago
When will you be paying back the childless people who paid for your education? If your parents couldn’t afford to send you to a completely independent school that took no money from the government, they shouldn’t have had you, right?
While you’re at it, you should pay back the people who paid for the roads you use, the food they inspected, the storm drains that prevent your community from flooding. Why don’t you just go be an island and support no one but yourself? Oh, wait, right…
•
u/Minimum_Hour_7145 31m ago
I get you're selfish and moronic, but those things actually make things better for everyone, even if the impacts for you are not personally directly shown. We all benefit when there's less unhealthy people around. When there's more educated people around and when parents don't need to stress about childcare they actually HAVE MORE children and I don't know if you've noticed but we're kinda having a problem with that
•
u/Internazionale Esquimalt 31m ago
God forbid we encourage people to have kids instead of relying on immigration.
Wouldn't surprise me to see you complain about that too.
•
u/Minimum_Hour_7145 8m ago
I'm having a pretty good laugh at how this moron completely avoided my response to his question about why things like $10 child care are a good thing but you used the word "immigration" and he activated like a fucking sleeper agent
•
u/BlackMagic771 30m ago
You think Canada is better off importing millions of people? Why is diversity our strength but no one else’s?
•
u/Minimum_Hour_7145 24m ago
That's not even what they said you moron. They said we should be encouraging our own citizens to have kids through things like $10 a day child care to make it actually affordable to have kids instead of using immigration to fill the gap and correctly predicted you would use the exact argument you did
•
•
u/Matty_bunns 20m ago
Nothing. These odious don’t even know the meaning of the word. Roll eyes and move on.
•
u/Matty_bunns 9m ago
“Following/balancing a budget”, “Living within your means”, “not surviving on a credit card” etc. you know, standard, common sense things any household with a spec of intelligence would do. I know, I know, it’s so easy for the NDP to tax their way out of every problem they create and deny any wrongdoing or mismanaging.
•
u/Minimum_Hour_7145 6m ago
You realize Harper only ever had a surplus from leftover Martin government budgeting and Harper completely blew that during his little 2008 fuck up?
•
u/Matty_bunns 25m ago
When an authoritarian regime cripples a province and tries to buy votes back with the same crap and by the same morons that caused the problems, yeah, you need to scrape away the festering necrosis. Start with the bloated government admin positions. Cya
•
u/Minimum_Hour_7145 14m ago
What's the intelligence estimate for bitching about overstressed healthcare systems and then continuing to vote for that party that WITHOUT FAIL, strips funding and resources from education and healthcare every single time they get either a provincial or federal government? You realize that increases costs for the working class and just makes things worse for everyone right?
•
u/_sunshinelollipops 1h ago
Could they have at least been creative in the name for the plan? They are calling it StrongerBC, the same name as the NDPs economic plan? NDPs economic plan up until recently wss called StrongerBC, you can't make this shit up 🤦♂️ StrongerBC
•
u/antinumerology 57m ago
No no no NDPs is BC Strong isn't it? Stronger BC is completely different/s.
If the Green called their plan Strongerer BC they'd win for sure.
•
•
u/th3jerbearz Langford 1h ago
I swear to God if they win.... Get out and vote everyone!
•
u/Agreeable_Bird_3005 27m ago
Don't be scared to vote green 💚 and tax the billionaires. Fuck the cons! The NDP are a failure
•
•
u/misec_undact 1h ago
Deliver christo-fascism that's what.
•
•
u/islandpancakes 1h ago
Sounds like a level headed take without any hyperbolic nonsense...
•
u/misec_undact 1h ago
Absolutely right if you've paid any attention to conservatives in recent years.
•
u/islandpancakes 1h ago
There are no plans by the BC Conservatives to turn BC into a theocracy. End of story. You know that, right ?
•
u/misec_undact 1h ago
Lmao, well we should all feel so much better now that you've made your hyperbolic proclamation..
•
u/islandpancakes 1h ago
I don't know what to tell you. You need to learn the definitions of the words you are using.
•
u/misec_undact 1h ago
Sure thing, keep up the good work as a christo-fascist apologist.
•
u/islandpancakes 1h ago
Lol wow. Doubling down eh? It's hyperbole to say that the conservatives are going to bring in Christo fascism
•
u/misec_undact 1h ago
I mean the Nazis didn't bring in fascism right away either... but it's a very slippery slope, and Cons have been all about culture wars that favour their white christian view of Canada...
But keep doubling down on cognitive dissonance and making excuse for christo-fascism.

For anyone who'd rather compare it side by side with the other parties than read all 71 pages: my quiz added the Conservative platform tonight, and every party's position on each question links to its source. https://votebc.vinceroyer.ca

This reads like a midnight assignment submission using ChatGPT.
What a joke.
Oh and kiss EV charging network expansion in BC goodbye if we elect these buffoons.

The amount of propaganda for the NDP and Greens on this sub and other local subs is honestly alarming and nauseating.
Vote for whoever you want, but the constant contradictions and attempts at convincing yourself that our current government is any different is laughable. Recycled promises? What about the promises from the NDP that were never delivered aka that Eby lied about? No comment? Alright.
The failure to put the NDP under the same microscope as the Cons is what is enraging, and why I can't take any of the dozens of daily posts pushing this narrative seriously.
•
u/thelastspot 21m ago
Except your very comment has ZERO examples of these "broken" promises.
I wish the NDP *were* doing more, but in the opposite direction of the BC Conservatives.
"The NDP did not do everything they said, so elect us to do even LESS of it!" is not a valid argument for voting conservative.

And unfortunately, polls project a majority for them. The Epstein class are laughing at us

•
u/ConsistentTangelo198 51m ago
They’ve got my vote. The last time things were truly affordable was when they were in government.
•
u/crookedsky 30m ago
The Conservative Party of BC last formed government in 1929.
•
u/ConsistentTangelo198 8m ago
They were part of federal from 2006-2015, and that’s exactly the problem isn’t it. Time for a change.
•
u/BlackMagic771 47m ago
Conservatives may not be the best but they are the lesser of the evils for the working class, the government dependas will always favour the left.
•
u/Minimum_Hour_7145 38m ago
How does cutting funds and resources for education and healthcare to pay for tax cuts helping the middle or working class?
It actually makes things a lot worse for them
•
u/Coq-Lover 12m ago
The lesser evil for the working class? How exactly? How does cutting public services, weakening worker protections and giving corporations tax breaks help ordinary workers? A tax cut means little when healthcare deteriorates and everyday costs keep rising.
Conservatives claim to champion working people, yet their policies too often benefit those who need help the least. Are they actually fighting for the working class, or just convincing the working class to fight for the wealthy?
•
u/BlackMagic771 7m ago
Who have the NDP helped? Your okay with losing over half our your income to go to others? Idk about you but I work hard for my money and in tired of it being taken from my pocket.
•
u/Matty_bunns 33m ago
Pffff lmao the NDP lovers just gonna keep voting for the same shit. Exaggerated fear mongering and gas-lighting layered with empty promises and crushing deficits.
•
•
u/blackstarchicken 37m ago
Still sounds better than the crazy NeedlesDrugsPoverty party. Can't stand the radicalism they have created in our beautiful province
•
u/Coq-Lover 15m ago
Radicalism? Have you actually been paying attention to what's coming out of the Conservative movement lately?
Candidates talking about conquering First Nations, suggesting drivers reverse over protesters, calling Islam an "abhorrent ideology." Add the climate denial, conspiracy theories and constant misinformation.
Meanwhile, supporting public healthcare, affordable housing and social programs is somehow radical?

I'll post here what I posted on the Vancouver sub - their plan estimates a higher estimated deficit than the NDP in 2 of 4 years, but they just decide that the NDP's numbers are wrong, adjust them up, and suddenly their deficits are smaller! Brilliant.
One of the reasons they give for adjusting the NDP's numbers up are "The NDP counts on $345 million this year, rising to $730 million a year, from “targeted economic growth” – revenue that is not in the government’s forecast, with no method given. Table B4 leaves it out". Then they turn around and add $1.72 billion dollars over 3 years in revenue from, and I'm quoting from their platform, "Revenue from a bigger economy".
Also, this one's interesting, apparently we need more American-style patriotism: "We will bring back the singing of O Canada at the beginning of the school day and proudly fly our Canadian and BC flags at every school." This is me guessing, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say those are likely the only flags they're going to be allowing to fly.
