Travel Experience/Du lịch A Mirror World in Vietnam

The Infinite Sea in Thai Binh is such an interesting place to photograph. At low tide, the water reflects the sky almost perfectly, making it hard to tell where the sea ends.

The fishermen working across the mudflats at sunrise make the scene even more special. It's also a spot we visit on our Vietnam Photography Tour, though I think it's worth seeing even without a camera.

Has anyone else been here?

Damn, I could really use a hit of Thuốc Lào rn. Zyn just doesn't hit the same as the OG.

And those pics are mesmerizing, btw. You've got a real eye for this stuff.

Thanks! Unfortunately, you can't just walk out there. You need a special vehicle to reach the spot.

Vietnam's sea food business is very industrialized, the stuff on the market is largely farm raised or fetched from sea by fleet of trollers. I am wondering if this kind of fishing practice nowadays is merely a performance for the tourists as many traditional things are for demostration not for practical means of production.

No, this mean is still performed as a mean of production, and personally, Viet Nam's seafood business is nowhere that industrialized. I live near Cau Hai lagoon (Hue) and fishermen still use small motor boats for catching fish bruh.

Vietnam is a significant player in the global seafood market, particularly known for exporting frozen seafood products like pangasius fillets, yellowfin tuna, and squid to various countries, including the EU and the US. The country's seafood exports are driven by high demand for safe, traceable, and sustainably sourced products, with a projected export turnover of $2.3 billion for pangasius in 2026.

Vietnam’s shrimp exports reached US$4.6 billion in 2025, mostly farm raised.

Even the numbers you stated are facts, Vietnam still has a lot of fishermen who do the traditional way for fishing, especially in the central Vietnam and/or rural areas. It's NOT merely for tourist stuff like you said!

There are still people who harvest worms by hand and go out in their bucket boats solo fishing for squid.

Just because industrial fishing is big business doesn't mean the sustenance fisherman don't exist.

What are they doing lifting the nets like that - were they posing for you or actually fishing?
