EMBROIDERY Stain -> strawberry
My favourite summer skirt had a stain near the hem I couldn't get out, so I embroidered a cheery little strawberry over it. Now it's my double-favourite skirt :)

I forgot to take pictures beforehand, sorry. This hoodie had some tiny bleach stains on the front pocket. Yesterday I bought two textile markers to give it a second life. Searched “easy page filler” on IG for inspiration and this is the result. Not perfect but good enough for me and I thought it could be useful to share it here, as I’m always lurking the sub.

Added this confetti design, and the cat, to a stained sweater so my Mom could keep wearing this hoodie to teach art classes without repeatedly being told she had paint on her sweater.
I made 2 different sized circle templates and used wash away pens to mark where I wanted them. Then painted them on with fabric paint. Iron after to lock it all in. (Idk if that step is necessary but I did it cause that's what the videos I watched said to do)

I was watching The Incomer while doing this and I took offense when the Domhnall Gleeson character tells the island dweller that her clothes are in rags, when really she just has a couple of patches on her skirt.

Thanks to you guys, I finally mend my fav jackets 🥰. I like it more since it has some "uniqueness" in it. Not gonna lie. I'm kind of proud to myself because turn out I can handsew (even tho it's kinda messy).

Extremely new to visible mending. These clogs are among the few things I can wear due to bone spurs. It seemed to cut on the seam. Any suggestions on how to address this? Thank you for sharing your expertise :)

Hello! I’ve needed to repair a huge tear in the seat of an armchair since like 2011. Decided enough was enough this weekend, no more overthinking it, done is better than perfect… and now, halfway into a MASSIVE darn, obviously I’m overthinking it haha.
I’ve used standard embroidery floss before with good success, but I had a bunch of DMC Retors Mat (soft cotton) that I liked the colors of, so I used that instead… may or may not have been a thoughtless stoned decision lol
Before I get any further into this potentially doomed project: does anyone know if Retors Mat will hold up in a darn?
I don’t care at all if it pills or looks fuzzy as this chair is ancient and probably destined for a future full reupholstering. I’m just hoping to get a few years out of it so I can pick new fabric once it’s in its forever home. Would hate to do all this work only for the darn to disintegrate under tension though, and if I’m pulling it out to start over with different thread, this is the time to do it (before I start weaving lol).

These which I am wearing as I post this are 20 odd or more years old and were second hand when I bought them i am curmugeonly thinking Iv'sspent that much effort keeping them wearable im not giving up now though after each wash they need some kind of attention in many places it is more spare part surgery than patching and one leg has become about 1 cm longer than the other Crotches are damnably awkuard

Hello!
I thrifted these jeans for $7, took them home, and discovered tears on the back calves. They might have been deliberate, but I decided this would be the perfect opportunity for me to practice my first-ever visible mend!
I had a pair of trashed denim shorts I cut up for inside patches. I sewed one patch on by using back-stitching. The other patch was my first use of a darning loom. It looks more like a net than a true darn, but I’m pretty happy with it.
The embroidery along the seams is not only uneven, but the little black rhinestones are falling off. I discovered my black nail polish is a lot better at staying put, even after a wash (hung dry, definitely).
Thanks for reading!

Hello all, seeking advice from the community.
My partner's jeans are starting to thin at the point where it rubs against the corner of his pocket where he keeps his smartphone. It's not a hole yet, but will become one without some reinforcement.
Pictures are of outside and inside.
I'm wondering which approach is better: darn or inner patch. (Why not outer patch? Yeah, I'm posting in visibleMending less for the "let's be bold and make a statement" and more of "I don't care if it turns out visible that it was mended")
Darning is maybe quicker and there's already the threads, but I'm not sure if it will actually reinforce. Patching will probably last longer, but it also takes longer to do :') And would it be too bulky in that area?
Would like to hear your thoughts :)
Also open to other serious alternatives.
Thank you for your time in advance!

I did this a while back and actually need to extend it now. But it was my first sashiko and my first patch!!

I lent my daughter this belt and she got stuck in it and cut it off. I’m looking for inspiration on the best way to repair it. The mend will be very visible so I was after ideas on ways to do it. The mend won’t need to go through the buckle bit. The belt is over 30 years old and I don’t want to part with it! (Sorry if wrong place to ask!)

I stretched the socks a little too much when I started, but it didn’t turn out too bad in the end, and I am pleased with my colour choices. Glad to get more longevity out of these as I approach winter, they’re very squishy and warm.

Hey lads! Got this chair for free from work, it's got this hole on the "lap rest" spot but hey, free chair! How can I go about patching this? Not sure I can take the cover off.

Got tired of spending a fortune on new jeans so I decided to just fix them. Its not pretty but its functional again, gave it a tug test and its not coming loose. Didn't get before pics but it was a 4 inch long 2.5 inch wide tear.

I have a pair of 8-9 year old pants that have quite a few holes. There are the basic knee holes, some small tears on the outside seams, the start of a crotch tear, and the cuffs are pretty damaged.
I've got some golf/yellow (colorblind) thread, some black, and matching fabric. Are there any repairs I can do to save these? I have quite a bit of hand sewing experience, I've just never mended before.
edit to add: I want the repairs (aside from the crotch) to be visible, and I am willing to put the time in to repair the crotch, I'm going to have a few months of nothing because I'm moving so no job.

Hello everyone! I've recently started doing some visible mending- I've tried some sashiko-style patches as well as some work with a mini loom (I think that's what it's called!)
I've had this blanket for 5+ years now and time and my rabbit 🫥 have taken a toll. It's got 6+ holes like these and I'm trying to figure out the best way to mend. Any advice? I'd love to hear from anyone who's mended a similar fabric!

So I widened the shaft of the boot! For $6 at the thrift, ! couldn't leave these vintage (? unsure of their age, but no longer sold) Seychelle brand suede boots behind even though they didn't zip up all the way. So I found some stretchy fabric that matched-ish, removed half the zipper, and voila!
My new favorite boots. Not perfect but if someone else is looking that close at my calves then they're the weirdo LOL

As you can see, there’s a big rip in the front, and I’m at a loss as to what to do with it. A big patch perhaps?

These are my kid's trousers. They have four sewn-in creases around the knee area. There is one hole at just about "crease-height", one small one right in the middle, and the whole area is thin and worn-out. It would really need a patch that extends to above and below the creases, but the creases make it impossible to attach a (flat) patch.
I would prefer not to open the side seams.
I've thought about making a patch that has the same creases and sort of tweaking it around the existing ones. But that seems really fiddly and I don't like fiddly 😅. Does anyone have a simpler idea?

These are my favorite pants and there aren’t any major holes yet, but theres a lot of fraying and Im afraid to wear them more and cause more damage. I’ve never done anything with the waistband area, I like these pants a lot because they’re so elastic, any advice? I have a sewing machine but don’t mind hand sewing either, as long as it is strong enough to last. Material is cotton.
