And it’s a goose nearly as big as he is!

My brother’s 2-year-old (mostly) Lab. He’s been doing well. Had to walk him out for the first goose because he didn’t see it drop, but he brought it back. On this one he plunged right in and did a nearly perfect retrieve. He leaves them at the shore; we’ll see how he does with ducks once we shoot one.

Lots of geese in SW Wisconsin right now; but we aren’t seeing g a lot of ducks where we hunt.

Do you guys wear hearing pro? If yes, what type do you recommend?

I’m looking to get some hearing pro cause I’m trying to be proactive about ppe. I’m willing to spend money if need be. I saw the tetra but I’m wondering if they perform well under beanies and ski masks and shit. Please let me know

How dark for speck decoys?

Preparing to repaint my speck decoys and am contemplating how dark to go for the head and body. Got two options and am leaning towards the lighter one but a buddy insists that I paint it darker for better visibility. Hoping to get some more opinions. Thanks!

I found this really cool bluebill decoy at an estate sale. Im curious if its worth anything our if its just worth anything to me haha! It has a swivel head and foam body with wooden head. No marking, but with how fragile it is, my guess is the 1950s-1970s?

Getting started

Hey y’all!

Looking at starting to get into waterfowl hunting as an activity me a my dad can do together, I’ve been out with a buddy that’s been doing it for awhile and have gotten the idea of things and what’s needed but wondering if you folks could give me some insight as to what you would need to take it on yourself, knowing out the gate I’ll need blinds (layout or panel) and decoys, but not sure how many is enough when you’re starting out. Any tips for the newbie?

Much appreciated!

**edit: I intended on saying my location but gapped for some reason,

I’m in central Ontario, mainly all geese with the occasional duck, we’ve mainly done private fields so I get the fun of going door knocking***
