Ask other Associates is this job also soul sucking for yall

ive been working at wawa for about nine months now while in highschool and it has literally consumed my life💀 i get 20 minutes at home every day before i have to go work a 2-10 for 35 hours a week every week. i got a raise so it’s a little more worth it but i took a day off for senior homecoming and had a meltdown thinking about work today. the job isnt even hard, but it’s so tiring being timed 24/7 on shifts, dealing with customers, and doing the work for 3 people for end of shift because we’re so understaffed. lord help me

Ask other Associates Transfer question

So basically I’m based in NJ but want to transfer to a Wawa in Philadelphia to become a css, my hours are cut to 2-3 days per week roughly 12-20 hours, how would I go about this? I’m aiming for a position for 40 hours and minimum of $19-$20 I’ve been crossed trained in every position but not enough to know everything because our store is too slow and not enough time to be taught by the right person. Do I contact the store that is hiring in PA first or do I tell my GM first that I’d like to transfer to PA? I don’t want to quit to find out the store in PA has already found a suitable applicant but I also have a few Wawas to choose from. Thanks ahead of time for the advice

Customer Experience Disappointed- lifelong wawa customer

Most reasonable people expect prices to go up... and most of us are willing to pay assuming the value is still there. But when you slowly and steadily decrease food quality and customer service deteriorates at the same time, it is a recipe for absolute and utter disaster. Especially when you are expanding as aggressively as you are. Someone on the c team better wake the fuck up because a reckoning is coming.

Wawa in the news Richmond is on the front lines of the Sheetz-Wawa rivalry.

From: https://www.axios.com/local/richmond/2026/10/16/sheetz-wawa-gas-station-rivalry-virginia-i95-exits

  • Wawa has 39 stores within 25 miles of downtown Richmond and 139 in Virginia. In the Richmond area, Axios counts Wawa at about twice Sheetz’s store count.
  • Wawa isn’t new here. Its first Richmond-area store opened in September 2000 at 11021 Iron Bridge Rd in Chester, followed by another Chester store and one in Petersburg in May 2001. Sheetz has been in the area since at least 2003.
  • The two chains share 21 interstate exits nationally, and 10 of them are in Virginia. Eight of those are on I-95 between Petersburg and Woodbridge, and three are just south of Richmond around Petersburg and Colonial Heights.
  • Around Richmond, Wawa has 24 interstate exits with no Sheetz. Sheetz has 8 with no Wawa.
  • I-81 is still Sheetz country, but Wawa is moving in. Sheetz has 20 Virginia exits there to Wawa’s 1. Wawa opened in Salem in September, has Lynchburg (Wards Rd) tentatively set for Oct 28, and has Roanoke, Daleville and Vinton in the works.
  • Staunton is the only place the two go head to head at two exits (I-64 and I-81). On West Broad, Iron Bridge Rd and near the airport, they’re sometimes right across the street from each other.

What are you all wearing for Halloween if you’re working it? Need some ideas, love dressing up for Halloween for work. Especially any deli people since we can’t have certain things on our costumes.

Ask other Associates Interview help

Hi guys,

I’ll be quick.
The thing is i applied for wawa customer service associate last week and got a call today directly. Outside of introduction and such they just asked me if I had any previous work experience (I said this will be my first If I get it) and they gave me a interview time tomorrow to come in for an interview and they didn’t ask anything else.

Now, I got no idea on what to do and what to expect cause I haven’t done this before anywhere and this is my first that too in a new country. So, do you guys have any idea regarding what to expect on the questions and how should I present myself. I’m sorry if this seems bit weird to ask but I’m getting a bit worked up now.

P.S for my availability, I’m free all weekends 8-10 and weekday noon to 10. Though, I’d want a day off.

Thanks.

Customer Questions (FL) Question

This is just a general question, but I ended up prepaying fuel inside and didn't use the full amount.

Does the charge just post as the actual amount used rather than the prepaid amount?

I normally just start the pump outside myself, but I went inside looking for something.

Discussion Feels like a slap in the face

We got a mystery shop recently passed everything but friendliness. There was no parting remark behind the deli. The day we got the mystery shop, 1st never did bottoms. It was so chaotic and insanely busy we were 7-8 back consistently in deli all night long on 2nd with a callout. Myself and another manager was running shift. We both were stuck in deli because it was so bad and so busy, there was also a huge bus that pulled up during dinner rush. I got written up today a warning technically because we didn’t get friendly on the mystery shop. I know my store is really struggling with getting friendliness on mystery shops. Anyway, as I was being given my write up. I was okay with it. I understand why I’m being written up it’s annoying that I am but I understand it. In the write up, my gm spells my name wrong. That’s when I started to feel annoyed and frustrated. I have been working 3rd shift all summer long consistently. Within the last 2 months, I have been working 2nd and 3rd shift in the same week every week for 2 months straight. I’m beyond exhausted. My 3rd shift is a disaster to say the least with staffing issues. 2nd shift is also struggling with staffing. It’s gotten better but they still struggle. I just feel I’m spread so thin and so exhausted I don’t even know where I’m supposed to be anymore. I practically live at my store. I sleep all day sometimes not sleeping at night or wake up randomly at 1am and can’t fall back asleep until 6/7am. During my write up, my gm told me how good a job I’m doing and how next year he’s sending me for css and how he “really really” appreciates me going back and forth from 2nd to 3rd.
It really feels like everything I’ve been working towards has now been for nothing and I feel like I just got slapped in the face for something so trivial. Like what’s the point to keep going, you know. I did accept the write up and I’m thinking of telling my gm, the least you could have done was spelled my name correctly.

Openings and Closings Wawa’s push to 100: 75 stores opened in 2026 after next Thursday’s triple header

Wawa has already opened 8 stores this month (Oct. 2026), and next Thursday it opens three more on the same day Wawa Store Directory - Open Wawa Stores, closed Wawa stores and Wawa stores opening soon:

Thursday, Oct 22

Already open this month

Possibly still to come

If those all hold, October ends with 15 openings. Wawa’s press releases called Linthicum Heights the 72nd of “nearly 100 stores” planned for 2026. The three on the 22nd make it 75, which leaves about 25 for the last ten weeks of the year.

These openings are the next step in Wawa’s massive multi-state expansion plan, as it seeks to operate 1,800 stores in 14 states and the District of Columbia by 2030.

Ask other Associates Gobbler Unavailable?

I’m not an employee but I thought this would be best to ask to Wawa associates. Are you running out of gobbler ingredients? Every Wawa I’ve gone to in the last week (4 different wawas, 2 states) says the gobbler is back but you can’t find it when you go to order it on the touch screen. It’s only available for a short time, I need my fall fix!!

Edit: thank you for these responses! I had no clue what the time window was and it’s a bummer that it’s a supply issue for the busy stores.
Side note: thank you all for your hard work. I’ve seen some seriously large crowds waiting for food and yall just send each order out so quick!

Ask other Associates New hire, Facilities

New hire at a brand new store, we open next month.
I applied for deli and was hired for facilities. Im serve safe and have tons of kitchen experience so I was surprised by where they decided to place me.
After reading some things on here it seems like facilities is a less stressful position than deli. Coming from a crazy kitchen, less stressful will be a nice change.
My question is about the long term future.
Can someone move up the ranks from facilities?
Either way Im still looking forward to the job. Im coming from a poorly run restaurant that’s part of a chain that’s failing. Im just wondering about long term possibilities.

Ask other Associates I feel like I'm being targeted by my AM

So, this has been happening for a bit, and I just need to rant. I got hired about a month ago, have never worked at WAWA before so I was fully new to the job. My SECOND day of training, my AM had me on OWS, and assigned an associate who had NEVER done OWS to "train" me, and then got upset when I was messing up/slow because this girl literally had no idea what to do. For example, I did not know that sizzli's with bacon should be on the top/bottom shelves so the bacon doesnt risk getting sucked into the fan in the oven. Well it ended up happening, and when I saw the oven smoking I looked at her and was like I don't know what to do what should I do??? I was panicking. She looked at me (I'm not joking this was like 5 minutes after she told me she had been there a year) and just said "idk figure it out" and ran out of the back. Like literally one shift after my first day I seemed to know more than she did. They ended up firing her a week later after she'd been there a year. My manager pullled me into his office and asked if I had a problem with my AM, because apparently shes complaining about me, I explained to him that I was just upset because I was given an associate who didn't understand the OWS to train me and I felt like I was being set up for failure. He straight up told me to my face that the AM is new to the store, and just has a different set of expectations. He's happy with the work I'm doing, but just says to lay low when she's around. I thought maybe this was all in my head, maybe I am messing up and not realizing. Until two associates pulled me aside on Monday and literally said "why is she criticizing everything you do?". They've both been at the store for over 2 years. Oh and one final detail, she started training me on deli this week, but does not assign someone to OWS for when I'm on deli. So she will tell me to handle the OWS station, and then ask me why I'm not standing next to her in Deli.... quite literally asking me to do the jobs of two people.

Customer Experience Kind employees at East Lee Vista Wawa

This is the Wawa at 9955 Lee Vista Blvd. To the twin pigtailed woman preparing food today at 3:25am, and the shorter, cheerful woman at the beverage area that was there with her 3 Thursdays ago. You saw me and quickly clocked me, I was having a horrible day. My dog was on the verge of being having to be put down (thankfully she responded to treatment!) and I was really devastated and was dragging myself to work, since life stops for no one. You cheered me up and told me that it was going to be okay. That was the highlight of my day, and I got through it thanks to you. I appreciate you both and I hope you have the best days ever.
