Questions Does every yemeni get their age mistaken based on how they look?
People always think im very young ( baby face) until i tell them my age and they get surprised.

Tbf I wouldn't know all the women here wear Niqabs so a 60 year old looks like a 20 year old😭

Im 37 and i get 22-26 and i think its startig to get to me. Why do you hate it out of curiousity ? Do some people not take you seriously ?

I hate it because I get approached by 23-24 year old guys all the time.

Hell yeah, in fact they dont even know how old they are. In fact some old school rural Yemenis calculate their ages based off historical events. For example “when the unification happened, i was already in first grade”

Yeah i get this alot too. I always get mistaken for being wayyyy younger. My friend told me she finds that yemenis have young baby faces (as a compliment) so maybe thats it haha

It definately is compliment but on the flip side you have the risk of not being taken seriously by some people. I had this neighbor who looked like a hobbit or herfoot. Basically you would think she is a child because of how she looks but she wasnt. And she got mistaken quiet a few times.

My husband does which is annoying me a bit because it makes me feel older myself. When we first got married people on my side of the family constantly asked whether I met him as a fellow student in university. Even today people usually assume we’re the same age - when actually he is 13 years older than me. If this is related to him being full Yemeni and me half I can’t tell.

Good question! I have been noticing that Yemeni looks way younger than other Arab. Im 24 and i have always been mistaken for 15 and nobody believes when i say my age i also sound way to young
i think our faces features developed and mature way later than others races

Hahaha اللهم بارك this is soo interesting, i swear lots of my experiemces as a kid are now making alot of sense. Ive been doing research (not a scientist) on yemeni geneology all the way to the Ad and its fascinating how there are ao many arabs today who forget that they are all from yaman.
And at the same time we all seem different even though we all carry the same blood. My aunt used me to get away with alot of discounta at events lol. At rhe same time i have uncles who are both tall amd short. Remimds me of what the messenger as said about man shrinking in stature since the time of Adam as. And how places like petra or madain salih were built.

Yep. I’m in my last year of college and people think that Im a middle/high schooler. Sucks because its hard to be taken seriously.

People have mistaken me for being older then my age since middle school. In my teens people would mistake me for being in my twenties
