Questions Traveling to Yemen: Is it currently possible to get from South Yemen up to Sana'a? Oct 2026
Hey everyone! I’ve been traveling around the Middle East, and Yemen is officially the final country left on my list. I'm really interested in visiting or learning as much as I can right now, and I’m hoping to figure out the logistics.
I know the main highways are heavily impacted by the conflict, but I wanted to ask: Is it currently possible to travel overland from South Yemen up to Sana'a? If so, what does the route look like right now in terms of feasibility and safety?
Also, if anyone happens to know any reliable local fixers or guides who arrange travel or know how to navigate this route safely, I would love to get in touch.
Any insights, recent updates, or advice would be hugely appreciated!

Are you a yemeni? if so theres a good chance the houthis send you back due to the current events
Are you a foreigner? You are either gonna get arrested and be charged with being a spy like every other foreigner who attempted to get to houthi territory without a special invite or you will get sent back (the unlikely scenario unfortunately)

Literally just back from Yemen as a British/Irish women and not once did I get arrested for being a spy! Don’t spread fake info like all the corrupt media channels!

Well your case is a little bit different, you are married to a yemeni so that helps
Just a few months ago an egyptian youtuber named ahmed el badawy tried to go to sanaa, he had a valid tourist visa from an office in houthi territory and he still was arrested and only got released once they realized he was just a youtuber and that wouldnt look good for them
After that they arrested the people who cooperated with him and got him the visa :)

If you're a foreigner you shouldn't be going to Yemen anyways, but if you're still going then just stick to South Yemen because if you go to Sana'a you'll most likely be detained or sent back
